Chapter 6. The Infinite Realms
Okay guys. Confession time. I couldnt pick which art to use for this chapter so im putting both up. One at the begining and one at the end. Sorry.
It had been three days since they had arrived here. Things had started to calm down.
A ghost named ghost writer was even letting the wizards use his library, provided that they didn't make a mess or break anything.
Ghosts from across the realm were keeping them up on their studies but unlike Hogwarts classes were optional. You could either not attend classes at all or ask for a tutor. It's said seventh years were tutored by Merlin himself.
You could even ask a ghost to teach you a craft like blacksmithing. A 4th year had brought in a rough ax to lunch yesterday, saying he made it himself. The only trick was finding a teacher.
Fred and George were getting along fantastically with a child ghost Called young blood
At least, Ron thought so. Apparently only children could see him. So everyone who came of their own free will had to rely on others to know he was there.
Ron was particularly enjoying the company of an adult ghost named Plasmius.
Plasmius delightend in playing chess together, calling Ron a budding young genius.
At first Ron had been intimidated by the vampire like ghost but he soon grew to trust him, or at least challenge him after seeing him easily defeat another ghost at his favorite game.
They played once and their bond was cemented.
Ginny however, to every ghosts surprise, was the first, and only human that Fright Knight, the most loyal and fierce of King Phantom's Generals, liked.
It had all started when Ginny had wandered out to the Stables and was brave or insane enough to feed Fright Knights personal steed, a terrifying demonic alicorn with fangs, an apple.
They've been inseparable since, either sparring with swords, which Ginny loved, or playing Tic Tac Toe. Which Fright Knight hated.
“I am the General of the first army. How am i being defeated by a small child?!” He yelled one night.
Ginny sighed. “Another round?”
“Yes please.”
Ron occasionally saw the black haired, blue eyed first year wandering about the dorms or populated areas, keeping an eye on things.
Ron had not spoken with him since they had arrived and as long as they were okay he was content to leave him be.
A few girls had started learning instruments and were forming impromptu bands with rock battles in the halls.
Rumor has is one particularly talented witch had managed a spell with a guitar and was being personally tutored by Ember.
Rumor was later confirmed when a wall was blown out by a loud G note.
“Oops!” She yelled while Ember laughed.
The king found this hilarious, having personally investigated the noise, repairing the damage with a wave of his hand and high fiving the witch.
“He looks like a 7th year.” the witch had said at lunch. “With snow white hair and glowing green eyes. Ms. Ember called him Dipstick.”
“What did he do?”
“‘'Thats King Dipstick to you.’”
It was a bit of relief to find out their host had a sense of humor.
And it was a good thing too now that Youngblood had helpers who were well stocked.
Apparently Ember had woven a command to pack essentials into her song the night they left.
Most had packed clothes and books, and pets. Fred and George however, had a trunk full of prank supplies and were putting them to good use.
It was mostly the students that were targeted. Ghosts could just turn intangible and avoid the traps.
Yes. Humans were much more tempting.
But that didn't mean ghosts were not caught unawares once in a blue moon.
It's said the King had even joined in once in a while.
Anyways, life was good in the Infinite realms. Even if he did miss his friends. He wished they were here with him.
Harry had been about to come through the portal with Ron but Hermione had stopped him, pulling him away.
Ron sighed and putting away his notes. With his tutors help he was advancing quickly. Especially in Defense and Potions.
He watched through a window as Ginny attempted to cut Fright Knight in half.
He smiled and turned back to his game as he put Plasmius in checkmate.
Meanwhile, the King was in his study with his loyal mentor Frostbite and his good friend Wulf.
“According to Albion and Avalon the wizards have two objectives. One we foresaw and the other our goal. They currently have 5 of the shards, the vessel and the summoner in custody. The summoned is still running, the sixth shard is with him.” Frostbite said.
“We must retrieve him. The shards are useless without him.” Wulf said in his native tongue.
“I know.” Phantom said. “Should we send guards to protect the gate when we open it.”
“My people would be happy to help reinforces troops.”
“I think we should send in Skulker.”
“To track down the summoned?”
“Yes. We may not be able to hurt them any more than they can hurt us but we can still track him. He was the one to find Tom in the first place.”
Frostbite nodded. “We'll have Albion give the message that were sending back up.”
“As for once he is captured, how goes the repairs to the jail cell?”
A white faced ghost appeared from the shadows. “A barrier has been put in place along with reinforcing the walls. He won't go anywhere once we get him.”
“Good. You are dismissed unless you have any other concerns?”
“No my lord.” The warden said, leaving the room.
Phantom turned back to the mirror on the table, the one that relayed everything his spy and herald saw.
Albion was currently following the Headmaster while Avalon was following the Minister of Magic. The two big forces in wizarding Britain.
“Albion. Report.” He said.
A minute later Albion appeared in the mirror. “Reporting. Sorry. Had to find a hiding spot. Im curled up in this rundown house called Grimmauld Place. Its nasty. There are several wizards here. Including one who was supposedly wanted for murder of the summoner but he was released yesterday from that sentence. Now he's in hiding for other crimes.”
Phantom laughed as Albion rolled his eyes. “They have gathered all but the snake and summoned. Its slow going. We may need to step in.”
“We're sending Skulker.” Phantom said.
“Good Idea. Report over. Albion out.”
Phantom made a note and turned to the mirror again. “Avalon. Report.”
The mirror shimmered again and a slim girl in black armor appeared. “Avalon. Reporting. The Ministry are still trying to determine what type of creature we are. They've had a bit of luck there. Apparently Dolores Umbridge, code name: Magical Pink Toad, was told off by a spirit named Peeves when she dared to insult you. This spirit was just taken into custody a few hours ago. I was unable to get close enough to overhear. Its warded pretty heavily against ghosts but I can break through. I haven't as they would notice the wards falling. From.what I can see they are interrogating him.” Avalon shuddered. “Sir. It's horrible. Please. You have to let me help him.”
“It could be a trap. Also, if we do interfere, we will be letting them know Avalon is there. We can't use brute force.” Frostbite warned.
“What about an exchange?” Avalon offered. “A ghost for a wizard or even a few.”
“We run into the same problem. We shouldn't know about this Peeves being there.”
“We cant successfully retrieve him without tipping our hand.”
“What if Albion goes in. He practically the only known powerhouse. The wizarding ghosts are sure to help us. They are ghosts, and say that they told Albion of the situation.”
“That a good idea. But not Albion. Dumbledore. He seems to be likely to not want to antagonize us. From what Albion reports, he also is adept at manipulating the Minister.”
Avalons eyes widened. That’s perfect. They wouldn't want to antagonize us until they have a way to hurt us. So we have a Hogwarts ghost inform Albus to the situation. Hopefully he sees sense.”
“If he doesn't bring down the building.” Phantom ordered.
Avalon smiled. “Can I let out all the prisoners in that wretched department of Magical Creatures instead. That should create enough of a ruckus to get him loose.”
“What would I do without your sense of activism?”
“Crash and burn.”
Phantom laughed as Avalon narrowed her amethyst eyes.
“Signing off for now. Avalon out.”
The mirror went dark.
“Find General Skulker. We’re sending in the Calvary
