20. Target

"Don't shuffle those, Harry!" Louis said as he stood up from the office chair and walked over to Harry, who's shuffling all the files on the file rack. "God damn it." He whispered under his breath as he took the file in Harry's hand.

"Okay, that's enough. Let's go and have a coffee. You love coffee right?" Louis asked as he took Harry's hand in his. He guided Harry out of the office room to the hallway.

"Hello, Mr. Styles." Veronica, who used to be Desmond's private secretary but now Louis' private secretary, greeted.

"Hello, Veronica! We're just going to have a coffee. Check those emails I sent you and please, correct if you found any mistakes." Louis said to the kind lady.

"Sit on the sofa. I'll bring your coffee." Louis said as he pointed towards the sofa in the relaxing room. Harry jumped himself onto the piece of furniture making Louis cringe when it creaked.

Louis made two coffees from the machine and poured one into one of Harry's sippy cups residing there for times like this. The room is a private area made for just the CEO. He put both his coffee and Harry's coffee on the counter, so it'd cool down a little. He went and sat next to the elder boy, who was lost in his own little world while humming and looking around.

"I think we should go swimming sometime. What do you say, Hazzy?" Louis asked trying to grab Harry's attention and successfully doing so.

"Swimming? In the pool!" Harry rocked back and forth on the sofa while twitching his fingers.

"Yes, in the pool. Have you ever been to the pool?" Louis asked, hoping Anne was able to take the boy to the indoor pool in the Styles mansion.

"Yes!" Harry nodded excitedly making Louis giggle.

"That's great!" Louis ruffled the elder boy's hair.

"Floaties." Harry mumbled.

"You wore floaties?" Louis asked just to make sure, so he won't drown the boy in the water. Harry nodded his head before getting up from the sofa and wondering around the house.

"Okay, I haven't seen any floaties around the house. I guess, we'll have to make a quick stop at Target to buy you some floaties." Louis said more to himself before getting up to get their coffees from the table.

-

"Okay, sweetcheeks, we're gonna go inside this okay?" Louis asked Harry over his shoulder as he parked the car in the parking lot of Target.

"Don't get out. Not yet. Nope!" Louis shook his head when Harry tried to open his door as soon as Louis turned the engine off, but the green eyed boy opened the door anyway. Louis jumped out of his seat and immediately took Harry's hand in his, not wanting to risk him running away. He locked the car and went inside the building with his husband.

"Floaties for you." Louis sing-songed as he looked through the floaties, only finding the ones for kids. He sighed and let go of Harry's hand to look better through the shelves.

"Ah ha!" Louis said in triumph when he found a pair for adults and turned around to see that Harry has gone missing.

His eyes widened and he turned 360 degrees, still to find no sign of Harry. He walked to the aisle next to the one he's and sighed in relief when he found the boy sitting next to the toy cars.

Louis let out a sigh when he saw that he has already opened the package of one of the cars.

"Don't ever run off like that, baby! Louis was so scared!" Louis said as he crouched down next to his husband, but Harry was too busy ripping the package open of another car. Louis took the car from the boy's hand to get him to pay attention to him, but it only made Harry whine and he snatched the toy back from Louis' hands. Louis stood up and patted Harry's back twice.

"Okay, let's go. We have to buy those too now." Louis shook his head fondly at the elder boy, as he offered his hand but Harry just reached out to get another car off the shelf.

"No, no. Harry, no." Louis put his hand over the toy Harry was reaching out for, to stop him from grabbing it and ripping it open too. Harry tried slapping his hand away but Louis only caught his hands in his and tried to get him stand up.

"Up! Up!" Louis tried again but failed when Harry snatched his hands away from Louis' grip.

"Okay, sweetcheeks, we are buying you these two and that's enough. You're gonna open the same car again anyway." Louis tried explaining but he knew it's not gonna be of any use.

"No, do not open that." Louis said taking the car Harry grabbed from the shelf and that was it for Harry.

"NO!"

"C'mon, love." Louis tried to ignore the fact that Harry is seconds away from having a meltdown.

"The car! I want the red one!"

"You've got two yellow ones here, darling. It's the same car."

"Want the red one!" Harry demanded making Louis sigh.

"Okay, okay, get the red one too." Louis finally said, wanting to avoid a meltdown. Harry immediately grabbed two red cars and stood up.

"Nope, only one is allowed. You already opened two, so only one red car." Louis pointed towards one of the cars in Harry's hand.

"NO!"

"Darling, please, listen to me. You can only get one red car, but you can have these two yellow ones too which make it three cars." Louis tried to explain.

"But I want two..." Harry whined.

"Okay, get 'em." Louis sighed and let the boy carry two red cars to the registers while he carried the yellow cars and Harry's new floaties. They placed the items on the belt and Louis told the cashier to remove one of the red cars while Harry was distracted by the light above him on the ceiling.

"Don't worry about the open packages. He just ripped 'em open." Louis told the cashier, who nodded with an understanding smile.

"Is he your brother?" The cashier, who seemed to be in her late 40's asked. Louis guessed she didn't know who he is and he was glad about it.

"No, he's my husband."

"Oh." The lady seemed to be surprised for few seconds before smiling at the way Harry is jumping up to reach the light. "He seems like a lovely lad." She said.

"He is." Louis smiled back at the kind woman. Once the cashier is done with ringing their items up, Louis paid and thanked the woman before leaving the building with Harry. The elder lad skipped all the way to the car and kept on jumping until Louis opened the back door for him. He sat and couldn't stay still until even Louis put the seatbelt on him.

"Isn't someone a little energetic today?" Louis said fondly as he ruffled Harry's hair. He closed Harry's door and sat in the driver's seat before placing the bags on the passenger seat.

-

"What's it do you want? I can't get it if you don't tell me." Louis asked calmly as he watched Harry cry on the bed.

"Aw, sweetcheeks, tell me."

The green eyed lad was not giving any explanation to Louis. He just kept on crying while wiping his face on the sleeve of his pajama. Moments like this are the times that make Louis frustrated because he can do nothing to make Harry feel okay.

"How about this car?" Louis asked as he showed Harry the car but Harry just angrily slapped it away. Louis didn't go to try anymore. He decided to do something else until Harry stopped crying. It's not like he has any other option.

He collected the green eyed boy's clothes that are thrown around the room and placed them in the laundry bin in the room. He tidied Harry's table and his book shelf before going to the dining room to see if anything inside it was out of place. They haven't been using that dining room much since they always eat in the main dining room, so there was nothing to clean there.

When he returned to the bedroom, Harry's sobs has stopped but he had silent tears running down his face. Louis sighed at the sight and sat next to the curly haired boy. He carefully ran his fingers through Harry's hair, not wanting the boy to start crying again. Harry immediately got up from his place on the bed and cuddled up to Louis, making the latter smile wide.

"Sh.. you're okay, sweetcheeks." Louis rocked them side to side which had Harry falling asleep in no time. Louis guessed the boy was just so tired and laid the boy down on the bed again before turning off the lights and laying down next to his husband.
