Story is our basic language. It begins before birth, and is the basic building block of our collective human consciousness, society, beliefs, relationships, and self. Everything you've ever been told is a story. Regardless of whether it is "fact" or "truth" it has been expressed as a story. As Di_Rossi said, "Story IS humanity.  It's the fabric of our social existence and memory."

"Your hair is brown," is a miniature story. Whether or not it's true doesn't matter, it still counts as a story.

If you tell yourself, "I'm not good at —-." You've just told yourself a story, which like it or not, could potentially change the outcome of your life.

This is the power of story.

Story has the power to lift us up, teach us how to be kind, show us how to successfully navigate our lives, remind us we are special and beautiful and strong and important. Or it can do the opposite. Stories show us what our society or parents or friends think is important.

Every religion is a story. (Whether believed to be the truth or not- not starting a debate)

Every lie is too...

GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY!!

This means you can be not only the master of your own life story, but all those you write as well. You are all natural storytellers, because you're all human.

Now here's the part about becoming fantastic storytellers!

If you master the elements of story, learn how to construct a story successfully, and have compelling ideas that draw people in, you're well on your way to being a successful storyteller. (I hope I am too 😉)

It's my hope that this book will help you understand the basics of story structure, and how they come together to create powerful stories.

We will explore the 6 elements of storytelling, the mono myth and why it's so powerful, and I'm also going to give you several outlining and editing techniques to apply to your stories so you can save yourself money and time.
