31. Delusional People Aren't Always Wrong

I fought with my mother in front of Isic and Roxanne.
I had gone to visit Roxanne because a month had passed and I missed her very much.
We were out on a picnic in front of her house in very warm weather when my mom showed up there out of nowhere. I hadn't seen her in close to three months.
I was laughing at one of Roxanne's joke when my smile, and hers dropped instantly when we met her eyes. I turned my head away.
I wanted to ask her to leave. But didn't know if it was necessary for Roxanne, or even if she was the one who invited her. I knew she didn't like her at the moment, but did she want her gone. I got my answer a few moments later.
She started yelling. "Get away from me ! Get out of here!" it was such a contrast from how I remembered them to be. They were bestfiends. And before she got sick this time, she always kept telling me in the last five years how I shouldn't be too mad, and forgive her.
I was never going to forgive her. or welcome her with her despicable personality now. But what made Roxanne change her mind?
Was it something that she discovered about Cherry that made her hate her?... she had been talking about her when she was having a mental breakdown and Isic called me.
"Wait." Cherry was approaching, palms facing her, and a little crouched. "Give me a chance to talk."
Roxanne was not having it. She was not even listening. She grabbed her head.
"Get away you daughter of a **** GET AWAY. DONT COME ANY CLOSER."
I stood up. "Leave Cherry."
"Mind your business."
Roxanne stood up and was taking steps back. I saw briefly Isic come out of the house. Things were very awkward between us after our recent fight. He hadn't called me since.
"this is my business. And can't you take a hint? Leave. You're not wanted here."
"Exactly." Isic backed me up, crossing his arms. His arm muscles were bulging out. "Leave."
Roxanne started screaming louder. It brought me goosebumps. Her foot was shaking. I knew she only needed a final push to leave. "no one wants you here. Can't you see?"
I passed my hand in front of all of us. We were all angry, and frowning. "you bring the worst in us."
It was like she took a physical blow. She backed away, her eyes welling up. For some reason, her hairband came out. It made her shoulder-length red hair cover her face.
"I'll go see people who actually choose me." She said.
"good." I forced myself to say. I turned around to go comfort Roxanne sitting against the wall. I knew she would be leaving.
She did. Not before coming with something to say. She was obsessed of having the last word.
She wanted to make me feel bad. But I had a comeback ready. The only people that once wanted to her and can want her are family; blood.
"You're insensitive. They don't really want you. Your biggest flaw is you always stick with the people that don't want you. Ever since middle school."
I clenched my fists. How dared she say that? She didn't know anything about me? NOTHING!
I turned around so fast I got dizzy to talk to her. Instead I was met with Isic's eyes. Had he heard what she said? She had just exposed me to people that cared.
Or did he reall-?
"You can't avoid me forever." He said. "We're family and family always finds a way back. No matter our difference, our blood is the same."
I rolled my eyes. He was so in the wrong.
I had a surgery to go to, and a limited amount of energy during the day. I didn't spend any of it arguing with him. Whatever helped him sleep at night.
I wasn't going to lie that he was very delusional. It didn't occur to me once that I might be the delusional one.
