Day 2 (continued)
"One day maybe, for now I'd prefer to date you here."
Samantha stared at him in disbelief. He was actually serious, he wanted to date her in this dangerously claustrophobic room everyday but for how long? That was the most absurd thing she'd ever heard in her whole life.
It was so ridiculous she couldn't help but laugh. She started laughing hysterically, rocking back and forth in her chair. How in the world did he come up with such a ludicrous idea? And it was just her luck to be a part of it.
He stopped eating and looked at her in shock. His grey eyes clearly showing how frightened he was by her sudden outburst. She honestly didn't care, he was the mad one not her.
Then the realisation that she was the victim of this sick cruel joke made her start panicking and soon tears started pouring down her face. So many questions ran through her mind.
What would happen to her family when they found out she had been kidnapped?
How would she be able to continue her studies?
Were there people looking for her at this very moment? Did they even know she was missing?
As she choked back sobs she tried to reason with him. He was looking at her all wide eyed with his mouth agape. He obviously wasn't expecting this hysteria.
"Pleaseeee," she dragged at that word, with her hands kept together as if she were praying to him. "You have to let me g-go. You don't know how hard I've worked to make it this far in med school. How m-much I've suffered. If I miss classes I'll be barred from exams and all my hard work would have been for nothing."
She paused but he just looked at her blankly, not saying anything so she carried on.
"My parents must be worried sick about me by now. They've worked so hard to put me through college. It will all go to waste if you do this. You won't only be destroying both our lives, my family would be destroyed too. Please put yourself in my shoes. Don't you have a family too, how would you feel if you were locked away unable to see them or they you."
The last two lines seemed to have struck a nerve because his eye twitched as she said that. At this point he looked downright sorry and that made Samantha feel a glimmer of hope.
He put his face in his hands and then rubbed at his temples. Then he looked at her, his gaze pleading.
"Please don't make me out to be the bad guy here. All I want to do is get to know you and for you to get to know me properly without any distractions such as cell phones, the internet, other people, you know what I mean," his voice trailed away.
"But how is this fair?" Samantha protested in agony as her new found hope started to dwindle. "I must stay down here while you can come and go as you like!" She regretted saying that immediately, she didn't want to see him all the time. As a matter of fact, she couldn't stand the sight of him.
"It doesn't make sense for me to stay here with you. Who's going to cook for us and buy our food?" he replied earnestly. "Who's going to pay the bills and take care of us?"
Oddly the argument began to sound a lot more like a squabble between a married couple which made Samantha contemplate on her next few words.
"How do I get through to this man," she thought.
"How long do you plan to keep me here exactly?" she asked him with a much clearer voice.
"I'm not sure actually,"he said slowly. He obviously hadn't thought about this. "But I can assure you it won't be permanent, just until I can trust that you won't try to escape.
"Hah!" she exclaimed. "It'll be a cold day in hell before I stop trying to get out of here." She probably shouldn't have said that out loud.
He simply ignored her comment and continued.
"You might even be able to continue your studies once your out. I'm almost certain most universities allow students to defer their studies for a year at least."
A year.
Those two words were all she got from his sentence. He expected her to stay here for a year? Her blood started to boil and she bunched her fingers into fists as she stared at him. She'd never hated anyone the way she hated him right now. There was no use talking to him, she'd wasted so much energy doing something so pointless.
She needed to escape, but how? Then she remembered he had put the key into his pocket before sitting down. She had to somehow overpower him and take it, she couldn't care less if he got injured. Maybe she could lock him in here instead. She smiled at the thought.
"Samantha?" his voice interrupted her thoughts. "What do you say? Will you give me a chance? He looked so pathetic she almost felt sorry for him. Almost being the operative word.
She ignored him and looked around the room. "Come on, come on there must be something here I can use,"she thought. But there was nothing, everything was made of flimsy plastic which wouldn't even cause the slightest amount of damage. She then spotted the plastic fork he had brought down for her.
Would that work though?
"I need to think,"she replied as she picked up her cutlery pretending to eat.
He smiled brightly when he saw her do that. He probably thought she had accepted his stupid ideas. Idiot.
As he bent down to chew on his piece of chicken, Samantha gripped the fork tightly and in a swift movement she jumped at him aiming the sharp end towards the side of his neck. She was hoping it would pierce his skin and puncture his carotid artery but his reflexes were equally fast.
He caught her wrist as they fell to the ground and the fork hit his collar bone instead breaking it into tiny pieces. He winced in pain at the impact but it hardly even made a scratch on him. So much for that.
Samantha lay on top of him now, she clawed at him in desperation with her free hand. He held her other hand tightly as he blocked his face.
"Samantha stop it! This isn't going to work," he cried.
He managed to grab both her hands and he rolled over pining her beneath him with his legs. Samantha gasped for air as she lay there breathless. What was she thinking, she was so weak compared to him she didn't stand a chance.
Their faces were almost touching right now it made her feel so uncomfortable. He didn't move, he just stared at her fascinated like she was some sort of artwork or something and she had no energy to struggle so she just lay there in defeat.
After a few seconds she couldn't take the scrutiny any more. "Are you done?" she asked sarcastically.
Her words jolted him from the trance he was in and he jumped up quickly pulling her up with him.
"I'm so sorry," he said looking her concerned. "I hope I didn't hurt you."
Samantha looked at him in shock. Wasn't she the one who'd just tried to stab him?
He grabbed the plates of food and unlocked the door with his eyes on her the whole time. He muttered "I'm sorry" again before he closed the door. Samantha felt warm tears fall down her face again once she heard the door lock.
"Oh God please save me, please get me out of here," she said kneeling down on the floor to pray.
***
I lay wide awake on my bed thinking about my dinner with Samantha. Truth be told, I felt bad when she told me about her family and her studies. Maybe it was a mistake to bring her here after all, maybe this whole idea was as crazy as she said it was.
But then my cheeks flushed as I thought about the both of us on the floor just now. We were so close, our lips were almost touching. I'd never seen her face up close before.
Her heart shape face was absolute perfection despite the tears and snot coming out of her nose. In fact I lost my trail of thought when we were so close, I forgot that she'd tried to stab me before that.
She'll get around to me soon, I just knew it. The way she looked at me just now, I could just tell that she wanted me. Only she didn't know it yet, I would have to give her time.
"If things start fast they often tend to end fast," my late mothers words echoed in my head reminding me of Olivia and my other ex's.
I knew Samantha was the one from the moment I saw her so I would have to give her time if I wanted this to last. I just hoped it wouldn't take too long as my whole body ached for her right now.
