What if Bianca Survived The Titan's Curse?
"Watch out!" was all she heard before an arrow was shot at her.
The arrow flew past her and hit the monster from mythology. The huntress picked the arrow out of the golden dust.
"Thanks," she said, as Thalia put the arrow in her quiver.
"You need to stop wandering around the woods." Thalia said, sitting down on a bench.
Bianca just ignored her, and looked at the sky, almost in a trance.
"Look, I know you're still sad over his death, but it was a worthy cause. You need to move on, right now." Thalia comforted.
"How can you say that?" Bianca replied, a little harsh in her words.
"What do you mean?" Thalia said, genuinely confused.
"He died over a toy! A toy, Thalia! And you call that a worthy cause? He died because I didn't listen, because Nico made him promise to protect me. He died for a figurine of my father!" Bianca exploded at her.
"Bianca, I didn't mean-"
"Everyday, I live with this heart crushing grief. I know the fact that my actions killed a kid! A boy who was barely 14 died because of me! And you're telling me to move on? I can't move on, Thalia, I can't even live with this knowledge. Life is cruel, Thalia. It should've been me!" Bianca screamed.
She put her head in her hands, crying over everything that happened.
"You're not the only person who lost something that day. Annabeth, when she heard the news she became a different person altogether. She doesn't eat, she doesn't sleep, all she thinks about is that she was too busy being captured, that she was too weak. I practically lost my sister, and you're crying over a boy you didn't even know."
Bianca wiped the tears off her face, and sniffed.
"Look, if you're expecting an apology, that's not how the world works. The Fates are cruel, Bianca. People like you and me, we don't just live happily ever after. Life sucks for us, we get chased around by monsters until we die at the ripe age of twenty. Things happen, and we can't stop them. We have to move on, or we don't survive." Thalia comforted.
"Fine. Let's go save the world." Bianca said, a new look of determination fixed on her face.
"Yeah, it might not have been such a good idea to have this conversation in the middle of a battle." Thalia joked, as Bianca drew her stygian iron dagger.
Ready to face the world, Bianca remembered the lines of the great prophecy.
"What a time to be sixteen." Bianca muttered to herself, hacking down monsters.
Yes, she had joined the hunters. The problem was, the gods didn't want a demigod invincible and immortal. She still aged, like a normal human, but mostly kept her partial immortality.
She made sure to try and use her sword minimally on the half bloods. Stygian Iron did steal souls. Nico was a whirlwind of power, slicing down every monster he came upon.
"That's more like it! Let's turn this tide!" he shouted positively.
Bianca knew her brother would do anything to save her. She couldn't imagine what it would be like if she hadn't survived. A blade clanged against her back, and she laughed at the attempt. Her invincibility was caused by her dip in the river styx.
She recalled the wisdom that she had acquired from the sirens. They had told her how to put her weak spot on a different person altogether, so she was invincible unless that person died.
"Hello, demigod." the golden eyed Titan said, trying to chop off her arm.
Bianca brought up her blade to parry the attack, keeping her invincibility a secret.
"A deadly gamble, giving you that blade was." Kronos said, giving a heavy hit with his Scythe.
A moment of surprise lit Bianca's face as the scythe smashed into her face.
"A dip in the Styx. A good last try, but not enough to defeat me." Luke said, slashing as the Scythe turned into Backbiter.
Bianca brought up her sword, barely deflecting the attack. Kronos kicked her in the gut as she sprawled into the street.
"I've fought demigods hundreds of times your strength." Kronos said, bringing down the scythe for a last swing.
"Leave my sister alone." a voice rang out, as a pure black sword stopped the attack.
The two swords clanged against each other, in a fast paced battle. You could almost taste the tension, and definitely feel the pure skill and power off of the two. Kronos used the shaft of his scythe and smashed it onto Nico's head, giving him the upper hand.
"A good brother, but lousy swordsman." Kronos said, as he grabbed Nico by the neck.
Nico tried to claw his hands off, but it was no use. Kronos threw him to the ground, and with a quick slice, sent him to his father.
"Nico!" Bianca screamed, desperation in her voice.
Thousands of thoughts flooded her mind, but one of them crystal clear.
He will pay.
Bianca stood up and sliced in fury, hitting Kronos with such speed it was almost impossible to block. All she needed was one attack to connect. She scanned for every hole in the armor, every possible way to defeat him. She knew all it would take was one slice for her to win, or at least stall the battle.
She finally got a slice from his forehead to his jaw, right where his scar was. Luke became pale, the golden in his eyes starting to leave.
"I'm sure you're familiar with the effects of Stygian Iron? Next time, don't hurt my family." Bianca said, watching Luke drop onto the ground.
"Foolish demigod! You have only delayed the inevitable. I will find a new host. I will raise your brother from the dead again and again just to kill him over and over!" Kronos screamed, his essence leaving the host, yet he didn't shatter.
Luke started to move uncontrollably, almost like he was having a seizure. His body then stopped moving. Bianca knelt down beside him, expecting not to feel a pulse. When she felt one, she grabbed her sword and was about to plunge it into his body when she hesitated.
Suddenly, she shielded her eyes. Hyperion was still fighting, even though his master was dead.
"Well, the only way to defeat the light is darkness." Bianca muttered to herself, rushing into battle.
Already, several demigods were wounded, or even dead. She sliced desperately, putting all of her power.
"You think you can slay a mighty Titan with puny Stygian Iron?" Hyperion taunted, giving a deadly slash that Bianca narrowly avoided.
She rolled and ducked, and threw one of her knives at him. He let out a ray of light, and the blade disintegrated.Suddenly, the air felt charged with power. He was slowly heating up, and getting brighter and brighter.
"He's going nuclear!" Annabeth shouted, giving a last slash with her knife.
She was flung into a small ditch, as a clear snap was heard. She wouldn't be much use with a broken ankle. Hunters were dying left and right, as Bianca stared at the golden glint in the Titan's eyes. The glint of a madman. Bianca needed to stop him. If he showed his true form, all of them would die. She summoned all of her power, and yelled into the air.
"Bones!" she shouted, as her familiar skeleton pegasus came to her.
She readied her sword, circling around him and giving futile slices. Hyperion only smirked at her, as she rode toward him in a last attempt. Thalia shot an an exploding arrow, that gave off an extremely cold feeling. It seemed to have a small effect on the titan. He growled, and with a huge swoop of his javelin, hit Thalia with great force.
She was flung into a building, and narrowly survived. She crashed against the glass, and desperately tried to hang on to the ledge. Thalia started to swing her legs, to try and get to safety. One swing, two swings, she let go. Her foot caught onto a nearby ledge, but slipped off, disrupting her calculations.
It felt like it was in slow motion. The sickening crack of Thalia's bones, the horrible fall, the glass clinging down with her. Bianca rushed toward her, ignoring the battle.
No
No
This can't be happening.
But Bianca knew the truth. She fell from about 45 feet up. 48 was the median for lethal falls. Half of the people wouldn't survive that. Combine that with the broken glass, impact bruises, and the probable burns she had from fighting Hyperion, and the chances she would live were miniscule.
"Thalia." she choked out, fishing for bandages. "It's going to be alright."
She tried to squeeze some nectar onto her wounds, but Thalia only winced at the touch. Several burn marks covered her body, and her ribs were definitely broken. She was going to die, right there.
"Stop." she sputtered, coughing and wincing at the pain. "Bia- Bianca. I'm- I'm not g-going to l-live."
"Stop talking, Thalia! We're going to get you help!" Bianca tried to convince herself, tears falling down her face.
She knew in her heart there was no saving this one. It was a miracle she was even conscious enough to speak to her.
"Te-Tell L-Luke, I forgive h-him. I f-forgive. Fa-Family for-forever." Thalia spoke, content with her last words.
She closed her eyes, as Bianca shook her body. Despair racked Bianca's mind, as she checked her pulse. Zero beats per minute.
Bianca stood up, trembling. But not with fear. With anger. Her eyes were like black holes, sucking in everything, the temperature around her dropped. The darkness was now tangible, as everybody stared at her.
"Hyperion!" Bianca shouted, as Bones flew toward her. "I swear on the River Styx I'll avenge Thalia. I'll make you fade!"
"Yes, come to your death, halfblood." he replied, happy to get another kill.
Enough was enough. She slashed with her sword, and shadows flew past with the blade, giving a deep cut across Hyperion's chest. His face wavered, his confidence gone.
A wild swoop with his gigantic javelin almost killed her, but she acrobatically jumped over it. Her weapon had been forged in the River Styx, cooled in The Lethe, and made by the original Cyclopes. A discard weapon, one Hades didn't want for his symbol of power.
Bianca sliced the javelin clean in half, as the blade started to give off an unsettling gleam with power. Cold, yet warm. It was indescribable. It was power, and BIanca never wanted it to leave. She wanted to destroy Hyperion again and again for killing Thalia.
The shadows wrapped around Hyperion, making his moves sluggish. Meanwhile, the other campers were marveling in awe at the display of god-like power Bianca had. She was immortal from being a hunter, and invincible. Bianca was about to give the final kill, to make the shadows fling him into a ditch and ravage him, but she stopped.
She stared at her sword, at herself in the muddy puddle of water. What was she becoming? The shadows took Bianca's moment of indecision as an alternative route, as Bianca unconsciously helped them. The Earth split, a direct passage to the Underworld.
Hyperion shouted and screamed, ichor coming from various cuts, spilling out like water in a cup. The tendrils dragged him into the fissure and Bianca watched as he splashed into the river Lethe. The fissure closed, trapping him in the Underworld with no memory.
A cheer went through the weary demigods, as the last monster was defeated. Bianca felt a cold presence and turned around.
Hades stood there, the head of a monster by his feet. Bianca didn't wait for permission. She fell into his embrace, tears streaming down her face, various cuts and scorch marks on her armor, her blood showing an unusual golden tint.
"Nico...he's dead." Bianca sobbed at her father, as he strangely returned her embrace.
"Seriously? You go to your dad for reinforcements and everyone thinks you died." Nico joked, walking out of the darkness.
"But how? I saw you die!" Bianca said in disbelief.
"Shadow Travel. Just found out I could do it!" Nico said joyfully, traveling next to her.
Bianca ruffled his hair, and Nico shined his eager smile, while Hades watched his children with contempt. Little did they know, there lives were about to change. For better or for worse, nobody knew.
EPILOGUE
"You know what I am planning, Hades." the mysterious figure said to the lord of the underworld.
"I know, and it's madness! You think that this will reunite them, but you hid him from them! They will murder us if they find out the truth." Hades responded to the cloaked figure.
"We needed to send him young, or the Romans would have been suspicious." the woman said, taking off her goat skinned cloak.
"This is a fool's gamble, Juno. My son, you know he has found out about them. Sooner or later, he'll slip up Perseus location, and Greeks will take him back. Then the Romans will declare war!"
"The Greeks do not know that they have Jason. I think it is time Lord Jupiter claims him." Juno said, leaving in a blinding light.
"You know that is unnecessary." Hades grumbled at thin air.
