Roman and his brother didn't always see eye to eye.
As twins, either could inherit the throne; at least officially.
Off record however, it was clear their father favoured Remus, as they shared a sadistic sense of humor.
Remus was still a reasonable person, and would never harm someone without reason, and the best way to explain the difference between the boys was a childhood memory:
"Boys, come here"
commanded the king, and the children, who had just turned ten scrambled to obey, ignoring the silk screens obscuring a corner of the room.
"Imagine, boys, a man steals from us. What do you do?"
Roman cocked his head
"What did he take?"
The king rolled his eyes
"I don't know...Your mothers diadem?"
Roman frowned in thought, and replied
"Put him in prison?"
Remus shook his head and offered his own solution
"Have him whipped."
The king smiled at the child, looked to the guards, and called out
"You heard prince remus! 100 lashes."
The guards bowed, and headed behind the screens, and a man began to scream, blood covering the once white sheet.
many hours later, roman approached remus
"You got him hurt, remus, he was probably trying to help his family!"
Remus looked at roman sadly
"And now he can! Sure, he was in pain, but he went home when it was over, and can continue to help his family... he cant do that from prison. We couldn't let him go, father would have killed him, so I did what I had to."
So prehaps it was justified, and not violence for violences sake, but whenever something violent happened, remus got a strange look in his eye. Roman could only hope his brothers sense for justice outweighed his love of violence.
As he'd been lost in yesteryear, he had reached his brothers rooms.
He knocked, and a boy he'd met only twice awnserd it.
Dee Mastin, his brothers manservant opened the door.
In honesty, Roman hadn't payed Dee Any mind during their previous meetings, he'd seemed to fade into the background. Now however, far from a crowded stand during a tournament, or on the edge of a crowded ballroom, he could see Dee properly.
He bore a startling resemblance to Logan. They had the same dark black hair, pasty complexion, and the same unsettling look in their eye; the look that made roman constantly wonder what they were thinking. Brilliance hid behind there eyes.
They wore the same clothes (a uniform to be fair, but the same nonetheless) of a brown tunic and trousers.
The most obvious diffrence was the heavy scaring on one side of his face, and disrespectful expression that, if Roman had a mind to do it, could use as a reason to have him locked away.
"Can I help you, sire?"
Dee prompted, bowing.
"I request an audience with my brother. It is of the highest importance."
The servant returned to the shadows of the room, and a muffled conversation was heard from where he stood.
Dee returned swiftly and bowed low again
"My prince, my master wishes I pass on a message: 'f**k off.' "
The scruffily dressed boy went to close the door, but Roman reached out a hand to stop him.
"Please. My servant, Logan, is about to die for a crime he was ordered to commit by me. Please, mr Mastin, help me."
Dee had no reason to listen. As future king, remus outranked him, so he'd be disobeying orders if he did chose to help.
Roman needed to persuade him, and fast
