Chapter four: face the music

They reached the conclusion that Roman should be the one to leave, and though remus insisted that time was of the essence, the brothers hugged one another, and when they let go, their seemed to be a mutual understanding that they would likely never meet again.
Logan's wispered thanks lingered in the air long after the pair had fled, the silence heavy and all encompassing.
Dee broke it with a sob, and he fell to his knees out of sheer exhaustion (physical? Emotional? Both? Both. Both is good) He knew he shouldn't be sad, and that Logan would be safe once he left the kingdom.
But he'd miss him, and dam it he was scared.
Remus knelt beside him, rubbing soothing circles into his back.
Dee, despite the danger he was facing, wanted to lean into the touch and never let go.
But he couldn't, because remus was the crown prince, and he was servant.
Maybe one day, when the king was dead, they could show affection while alone, but they'd could never truly be together. The best they could ever hope for would be stolen glances as Dee refilled remus's wine, or soft kisses after whoever remus married (for advantage of course) fell asleep. As much as Dee loved Remus, it was simply impossible for them to be together. Remus had made his feelings known a year before. I'd been perfect.
The rest of the staff were long retired, he'd called Dee into his room near midnight and poured his heart out to the other boy, saying he was in love, and begging him to love him back. The prince, begging a servant boy to be allowed to show the affection many women would die, or kill, for. Dee had replied 'my lord, I am truly honoured, but I fear your advances are the symptom of an ailment or curse, I shall fetch the Royal advisor to see what must be done' he'd gone to do just that, when Remus called out a broken 'Please. I love you, your wit, your smile, your heart, you! At least, at least tell me your name?' Dee had hesitated in the door way 'Dee, your majesty, but I do not return your feelings' he'd lied. Remus had made Dee his manservant a month later, claiming that it was as pentance for his actions while enchanted.
He had lied to. He'd never been under a spell, he just wanted to see the person he'd fallen for everyday. (Obviously Dee could have said no. When he didn't, remus had never been happier.) but they couldn't even stay leaning on one another for long. The guards arrived, along with Terrance, one of his fathers knights. Terrance was a good man, but he worked for an evil king.
"Dee Mastin, your under arrest. By order of the king."
Remus couldn't order them to stand down, he couldn't go against the king.
He could defend his servant in court-but would the king listen?
Could he fight off the guards he was a skilled swordsman but he'd be defending someone else, against many people
