5| Escaped And On The Run...Well Fly

Btw this is a picture of Brianna above^^

I woke up to the roar of an engine and the crunching sound of gravel. Trying to sit up I hit my head on the top of a metal bar. Looking around me I noticed Mason, who was next to me, and I were in a crate type box.

Of course he was still knocked out, and had drool running from his mouth. If we weren't trapped in cages, and being driven somewhere, in what I think is a car, I would have laughed.

Honestly I don't know if it even was a car. We used to have an old beat up car in our territory when I was 5, but it eventually rusted and decomposed. We didn't have paved roads either. Just graveled ones. It was fun to ride your bike on even though it was pretty rough.

The less noticeable our Paradise was, the safer we were. That is why we have so many trees surrounding our homes. We can't have any airplanes passing over head and seeing us.

But right now is not the time to be thinking about my home when I'm clearly not there. Now we were in an even worse situation than before. We had been seen, and captured, by more than one human. And even possibly more than two.

Turning my body was hard since the cage was so small, and my wings took up most of the space since they were bigger than I was.

I frantically shook Mason until he finally opened his eyes. He looked around him and squinted several times before he realized what was going on.

"What the hell happened to us?" He blurted out.

"I have no idea! They shot us with something, and then we fell unconscious!"

"Tranquilizers?" I asked looking towards him.

"You mean those sleepy bullet things?"

"Yeah Mason. Tranquilizers." I rolled my eyes and looked around for means of escape.

I almost literally gave myself a facepalm when I saw that the latch was a simple hook. I quickly unhooked the latch, and slid out of the cage as silently as possible. Did they think we were as primitive as dogs?

We had a dog once. He was so cute but he ran away. Pandora this is not that time for this! Right! Sorry self.

It wasn't silent enough though when the cage door swung closed with Mason still inside. I hadn't realized the vehicle, which now getting a better look at it, was definitely a car. Two beefy looking men were standing on either side of me. They looked angry, but they were smiling.

"Shit," I mumbled looking towards Mason.

The two men stood staring at me, almost daring me to move. I didn't move a muscle. Not an inch. I looked toward Mason without moving my head. My eyes screamed 'what do I do?'

Thankfully Mason answered me. "Fugite!"

Fly.

Within a second I had jolted myself into the air and thrown open my speckled wings. I pushed down hard, rising into the air as fast as my wings could carry me.

"Mason I will come back for you! I promise!" Yelling towards him, I flew off as fast as I could. I had to get help. I had to save him.

I looked frantically for the marked trees, and coincidentally we weren't far from our territory. The tranquilizers hadn't been able to keep us out for long.

Adrenaline rushing through me, I flew through the hunting territory, and into ours quicker than ever. I was flying so fast I nearly crashed into my front door.

Throwing it open, it rammed into the wall leaving a visible dent. My dad looked up at me from his book, quizzically.

"Mason... got captured... we have to go!" I yelled, between breaths.

He had jumped up from his chair and run out the door before I could even say anything else. Throwing out his wings he flew towards the council to inform them on the matter. I could only hope they would be quick.

I grabbed the walkie, yelling into it for Brianna. As I ran through the house frantically, pacing from the door to the kitchen, I saw Hunter enjoying himself on the couch.

"You know this is your fault!" I screamed at him eager to place the blame.

He looked at me confused. Ugh I hate him!

"You brought the stupid humans here, into our home, and now they've taken Mason!" His face looked slightly shocked like he hadn't heard anything I had been yapping about to my dad, or to my mom, or even on the phone.

"Wait they came into your territory?" He asked watching me closely.

I only nodded furiously. He nodded in response. He took something from his pocket, and was looking at it.

"Hey wait a minute! That's the phone!"

"Shhh! Shut up!"

"Don't tell me to shut u–"

"Shit!"

"What?!" I yelled angrily.

"They have him," he said forgetting to elaborate anymore.

"No shit! And who is they?!" I asked, yelling again.

"No one," he muttered.

"Come on I know where they are."

He grabbed my hand, and ran out the door with me. I hope he wasn't leading me into a trap but right now it's the only lead we have. It was the only way I would be able to find Mason.

"PAN!" Brianna screamed from above me.

I looked up, shielding my eyes from the sun, I saw Brianna. Landing in the ground she started bombarding me with questions.

"We don't have time for this! We need to go find-"

"Woah you guys aren't going anywhere! You need to stay here where it's safe.

The three of us turned around and saw Benjamin, one of the newest council members and incredibly annoying. I glared at Benjamin.  He was always yelling at the young children trying to fly or play. Of course they weren't supposed to be flying, but he really was a party pooper.

I looked towards Brianna, nodded towards Hunter and winked. She winked back and looked again at Benjamin who was eyeing Hunter suspiciously. He didn't suspect a thing.

I snaked my arm around hunter, as Brianna did the same. He looked at me with a rather disgusted facial expression. I unfolded my wings a little, ready to fly.

"Hold on tight," I said before we both lifted in the air, each with an arm wrapped around Hunter.

It was a little harder and slower than usual, having to carry another person with us.

"NO! PUT ME DOWN!" He shouted as we took off.

"Sorry but this is the quickest way," I yelled against the wind.

"Get back here!" Benjamin yelled, unfolding his wings to chase after us.

"Wait! Go that way!" Hunter yelled, dangling from our arms.

I looked to where his finger was pointing and followed aimlessly. Benjamin hadn't followed us like I believed he would, but he was still standing there looking angry.

By the time we had made it back to where I had last seen Mason we were wiped out, and Mason was nowhere to be seen. Taking hunter along hadn't proved to have been a good idea. In a rush I dropped him a little to early, and he fell on his butt, and pulled Brianna down with him.

"He's..he's not here," I said looking around me.

"Well it's kind of obvious tha-"

"He's not here, and it's my fault!" I sat on the ground, and buried my head in my hands.

"It's always my fault. I brought the humans here. Why am I so incredibly stupid?!"

Brianna sat next to me and put her head on my shoulder trying to comfort me. But as of now it wasn't really working.

"Hey umm.. I think we should go that way," Hunter said speaking up.

"And why should we listen to you?!" I yelled, wiping the tears from my eyes.

"Well it's the only option we have so-"

"UGH both of you just go!" Brianna pushed both of us into the path that Hunter had mentioned.

We were walking for about 10 minutes before we came upon an old cabin, and I mean old. It literally looked as if it wouldn't stand through a gust of wind.

I ran towards the door of the cabin before a rough hand pulled me back. It was Hunters.

"What are you-"

"Be quiet! We can't just barge in there. We have to think this through." Hunter spoke in a hushed whisper.

I thought what he was saying made sense, but we really don't have enough time before they end up dissecting him.

"I thought you were supposed to be as dumb as dinosaurs," Brianna said laughing.

"Brianna be quiet..." I trailed off as I realized what, who, stood in front us.

Two men were staring at all of us, but they weren't the men from earlier. One was tall and had several scars on his face while the other was shorter and lean.

"Aye boss, I think we've found more, and looks like Hunter decided to drop in."

My head immediately swiveled towards Hunter. He looked like he was hiding something. He was shrunken back. Had he betrayed us?

Hunter made a move to run, but he was cornered when another man came up behind us.

"Hey Pandora just promise me when this is all over.. I'll still be stuck with you all."

What? What did that mean? Why would he even want to be stuck with us over someone he knows? Unless it's because he knows them.

"So your names Pandora huh? What a pretty name for a pretty girl. I'm sure your wings would make us a great amount money."

"M-my wings?" I stuttered fretfully. That was the first time I'd ever heard a sentence so scary.

The one man grabbed onto my wings, and pulled me back with a sharp tug. I tried not to whimper, but it escaped my lips before I could realize what I was doing.

The other men came up behind Hunter and Brianna, and held them tightly.

Hunters gaze shifted to mine, as we made eye contact for a few seconds. I don't know what he thought he saw, but when he looked at me he seemed to fill with pain or was it anger.

"No! You aren't going to touch her!"

Hunter had punched man behind him in the face, but not without a taste of his own medicine. The man punched Hunter in the head so hard it knocked him out.

"Three against two. Just great," I murmured before turning around.

"Make that three against three." I turned my head quickly as I met Mason's gaze.

"Mason!" I squealed.

"You didn't think I would let them keep me hostage forever, did you? Besides no one can resist these babies." He held up his "muscular" arms.

"My dad helped you didn't he?"

"Yeah," He murmured looking away. I could still see him smiling though.

Speaking of him. There he was. Coming to our rescue. Covered in dirt and blood. My dad. We were in for a rough fight, but I knew we could do it.
