Chapter 17: Bad guy

Hours passed but Ella didn't return.

Taehyung's mind began to itch in worry, but it subsided as he recalled their fight.

His brain had been on the run ever since their outburst. Everything felt all over the place. He was doing so well, but now he was back to square one.

He began to think about the toxic words Ella had spat out to him. Her assumptions about Sue, about himself.

He was so close to cutting her out of his life.

But when he began to calm down and his mind began to settle, Taehyung realized the hidden truth behind her words.

Ella had said some insensitive things, but she was right.

It had been two years since Sue's death. But he still lived in the past. Why was that?

It was because he still depended on a lie to cope with her loss. He had to force himself to believe that she was the bad guy. He made everyone around him believe that she was a cruel, ruthless person.

He painted black all over her beautiful self.

Taehyung never realized the weight of his actions until now. He was nothing but a coward. A coward who never made the effort to move on from the past.

He needed to fix himself before he fixed others.

He needed to understand that Sue wasn't a bad person. He wasn't a bad person.

Nobody needed to be the bad guy.

He needed to come to terms with the fact that Sue wasn't ready to confide in him. Because if Sue had found comfort in him, she wouldn't have left. If he had just noticed her downfall a little earlier, then maybe he could have prevented her demise.

He needed to register that he too had a role in their relationship. He should have been there for her when she needed him.

This life was too much for her to handle and she committed something that had left haunting him for a long time.

He had made his own mistakes after that. He refused to make sense of her doings, calling her weak minded. He distanced himself from his parents. He quit education.

He needed to realize that he did this to himself.

Time had passed now. And the only option for him was to move on.

And maybe, it would be much easier for him to do now more than ever.

Because the one thing he did realize in the past few months was that he wanted to let go. He needed to let go to start all over.

And he couldn't if all he did was live a lie. He couldn't when he had cloaked Sue as a liar.

He needed to right his wrongs. It was never too late.

So with a bouquet of flowers in his hand, Taehyung made his way to the place he should have been to a long while ago, doing something he should have done a long time ago.
