The Basics and Complexity [2]

In the previous chapter, he mentioned how D.I.D is a real disorder but I want to add something. It's alright to me if people doesn't believe it's real. I can't exact force it on anyone. It doesn't stop me from healing and attending therapy sessions. It's alright if people wants to ask me questions because genuinely, I love when people do. Whether it be offensive or not, feel free to ask. You don't have to worry about anyone bashing you up.

11) Is there an original person in D.I.D?

This is kinda controversial and offensive question for some but i'm not anyone. There's no original person because ALL ALTERS are part of the original person. The mind is shattered.

Perfect example is the shattered glass. When a whole glass is broken into difference pieces, every piece of glass represents different alters. When you glue them together, they become a whole person.

There might be the "core" alter for some. Treating one alter as the original or adding more value to one alter is disrespectful and not helpful for recovery. My family and friends (some still do) used to add more importance to certain alters and it only made my symptoms worse.

[Do want to add this is nothing to do with schizophrenia and not to be confused with. Schizophrenia is the fractured reality.]

12) Can alters take over your life?

It's not that alters want to steal your life but the desperation to live as themselves. The right to feel safe. The need to be seen and heard. To have a sense of control and freedom of their own.

Since alters are often hidden away from everyone for all their life, they would want to do things just like any other person. The world is created to function as one single person and one identify hence alters may stop caring about it and fight for control. This creates a negative impact on a person with this disorder mental and physical health problems.

However, yes they may be certain alters that do want you gone. Not because they hate you (some might) but because of the injustice and trauma the alters have gone through to be created.

13)  Can someone have a psychopath alter?

The person with D.I.D has a high chance of comorbidities disorders such as PSTD or C-PTSD, depression, anxiety etc.

A person with D.I.D can also have ASPD (Antisocial Personality Disorder). This is a personality disorder that's known for the terms psychopath and sociopath. These terms are often thrown around a lot (same for narcissistic). I want to say THIS IS RARE. Having D.I.D and ASPD is rare but someone can have them both. I also wanted to add ASPD is highly stigmatized and have a lot of misinformation on it.

In order for an alter to have ASPD symptoms, the person with the D.I.D should be diagnosed with it first.

Meaning:

You having symptoms = diff alters carries different symptoms.

I hope that made sense?  An example is you have an anxiety disorder so that means your alters have it too. Only difference is that you and your alters reacts and may have different anxiety symptoms.

A person can have a psychopath alter but its rare. They don't act like how they do in tv shows or movies. Sure they can be toxic but any person with or without a disorder can be toxic.

14) What is the treatment to heal D.I.D?

There's two different types of therapy treatments for people living with D.I.D or O.S.D.D.

Many people thinks bringing all the alters together to become one single identify solves all your problems and its not that hard but that's all not true.

1) the most common and popular treatment is called the integration and fusion.

Fusion is when all alters or certain alters becomes one person again. For this to happen, memories and trauma need to be shared with each other. Before that, trust and communication with alters is a significant step.

Currently we're on that stage of therapy. Building trust and improving communication with different alters of ours because honestly most of our alters don't give a shit or unaware on multiple of things.

This treatment TAKES YEARS OF THERAPY. It doesn't happen in a day or a week.

2) Second treatment for D.I.D is living as multiple people / parts / alters.

For this treatment, you also need to work on your communication and trust with the alters. You also need to lower the dissociative barriers and have access to be co-consciousness (its when more than one alter is present and can control the body and aware on your surroundings).

I didn't go deep with the treatment plans but BOTH therapy treatments need to lower the dissociative and amnesia barriers. Working on trauma is up to the person and alters. Deciding on what treatment to go for is only for the person living with the disorder and their alters. The family members, therapist, friends or anyone shouldn't decide for them. ONLY THE FUCKING PATIENT CAN because every person with D.I.D is different and difficult.

I used to force my alters to become "one person" at the start of my therapy and that only backfired and made shit worse. Forcing doesn't help. Take your time babes because healing takes time.

Remember to always find a specialist that's trained or have experience dealing with dissociation and trauma work. If you're not sure what I mean then find someone that understands and has knowledge on structural dissociation. Without it, it'll be difficult for you and everyone.

I can't think of anything else so that's it for today? If you have any questions, let me know below sugar plum.
