Chapter Seven: An Unexpected Fight
Sam still stayed in the car wondering what was taking Dean so long, when suddenly a loud crash came from the convenient store. Sam pulled out his gun and got out of the car immediately, only to find that Dean had crashed through the glass. He groaned and forced himself to his feet.
"What the hell!?" Sam yelled in shock. Dean stepped away as another man stepped out of the convenient store. "Dean, what did you do?"
"What did I do?!" Dean exclaimed. "Thanks for asking if I'm okay, you son of a bitch!"
"Watch it!" Sam exclaimed and turned his attention away from Dean and toward the man. He held out his gun, ready to fire. "Halt! Police! Don't make come any closer!" the man rolled his eyes and stepped forward, immediately dodging as Sam fired his gun. The bullet flew past the man, crashing into another part of the store.
"You know, bringing a gun to a cat fight when someone else doesn't have a gun is just wrong," the man said and as Sam tried to attack him, the man grabbed Sam's wrist and disarmed him of the gun. "None of your little cop friends can help you out, Macduff, or is that your real name?" Angry, Sam kicked the man in the stomach and sent him into a nearby post. He collapsed, unmoving. Dean forced himself up and grabbed Sam by the arm.
"Come on slick, he's unconscious. This is our chance to escape." The two ran over to the impala and climbed in. Dean started the car and drove off. So much for paying for gas. They just needed to go somewhere else to fill the car up. Thankfully, Dean lost a little gas.

Frank Menosa groaned as he woke and saw that he was lying on the concrete and with the car and intended victim gone. He stood and frowned, considering that his boss would not be too happy that he lost. But that didn't mean he would not give up, at least not yet. He pulled out his phone and called Bela. The phone rang three times before someone picked up on the other end.
"This is Bela Talbot," Bela said. "How can I help you?"
"Ma'am, this is Frank Menosa," Frank said. "I've got some bad news. I had Sam and Dean in my sights, but they got away. I think they're only five miles outside of Missouri, so I'd recommend that you be prepared in case something happens."
"Trust me, I'm always prepared. Besides, I think their first stop is with Ruby," Bela said. "Follow them, make sure that they don't find out our plan with that pearl."
"Yes Ma'am."
"Oh and Frank," Bela said. "Don't fail me." Bela hung up the phone as Frank groaned, looking at his cellphone. The call had gone dead, so it left him alone outside his ruined store. Grumbling to himself, he walked over to his car and climbed into it before driving out onto the main road and driving in search of Sam and Dean.

Dean finally filled his tank up just outside of Kansas City, Missouri. The rest of the five-mile drive left the boys in awkward silence, even though they were trying to find the pearl and speak with Ruby, he didn't look forward to going back to her, not when he spent years of his life trying to get away from her. It all brought him back to the first time he woke up in her household. He was only four and those fifteen years of his life were practically gone since he got stuck becoming a thief. They did not leave abuse out. Hell, even when he was only searching for his brother, it was the same way.
Four-year-old Dean Winchester awoke to find himself in an unfamiliar room after the incident on the beach. He left his younger brother in the stroller and now he was nowhere to be found. He sat up quickly as he surveyed his strange room. He pulled the blinds open and found that there were bars outside on his window so he couldn't escape through that, not unless he had something to tear the bars away. Dean searched the room, but nothing else seemed to stand out. Until the door to the room started opening. Dean turned quickly in fear, wondering who could have possibly brought him to a house that kept him trapped. A woman with brown hair and brown eyes stepped forward. Dean backed up against the wall, fear spreading throughout his body. Standing next to the woman was another man with brown hair and brown eyes stood wearing a long dark suit with a blue tie.
"It's okay, we won't hurt you," the woman said with a soft smile. "We just came to help you."
"Where are my mommy and daddy? Where's Sammy?" Dean asked.
"We only found you unconscious," the man said. "Your parents were nowhere to be found," he continued. "My name is Crowley, and this is my wife, Ruby. We might help find your little brother." Dean shook his head and jumped over the bed before pushing through against the strangers. He successfully got through, but when he tried to take off out the door, the woman, Ruby, grabbed him tightly by the arm. Dean screamed and kicked, not willing to do exactly what they wanted him to do.
"You are going to work with us whether or not you like it," Ruby said. "If we tell you to do something, then you do it!"
"Let me go!" Dean yelled. "I want to be with my mommy and daddy!"
"Your mommy and daddy are dead!" Crowley yelled, helping Ruby push him into the room he woke up in. "Your going to do what we say or else you won't find your brother."
"Dean?" another voice said, causing Dean to snap out of his thoughts and look over at Sam. "are you okay? You've been sitting at this stop sign for the last twenty minutes. There are a bunch of angry people in their cars behind us."
"Sorry.." Dean said simply and moved his car forward. "I was just stuck in the past."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Sam asked. Dean simply shook his head. For a split second Dean wanted to tell Sam everything like they were brothers, but Dean passed it off as nothing more than a feeling. Sam was still a cop, after all. However, every so often, Dean would glance down at Sam's hands and see the same college ring that his father had. He remembered all too well that both his parents graduated from college, so his father's college ring still jumped out at him. Of course, Dean had something similar to it: a necklace or a locket. It was in his room, in Ruby and Crowley's home. Dean didn't want to take chances and wear it since that would irk his adopted parents. Sam and Dean arrived at the house and Dean parked the car in the driveway. He paused after he turned off the car and stared at the house for a few minutes. His stomach was in knots and he didn't want to think about what sort of punishment would await him. They planned everything to steal the pearl, and he lost it.
"We don't have to go in immediately." Sam suggested.
"No, it's fine, let's go." Dean responded quickly.
