March 16, 1521,  Homonhon, Leyte Golf, Philippines

A small girl was sitting in the sand near the shore. Humming a random tune, she stared at the glistening sea. It was so majestic, stunning, ravishing and she loved it. Other than the fact that her people depend on it for their everyday life, she loved the sense of je ne sais quoi it gave her. She loved everything about it. The seagulls in the sky, the fish under the sea, the sand in the shore, the boat coming towards her land-

Wait. What?

She whipped her head towards the boats approaching. Those were biggest boats she ever laid her eyes on. Worse, there was an even bigger boat* behind the smaller ones.

Alarmed, she stood up and hid behind the  thick trunk of a nearby palm tree. She stared at the watercrafts with suspicion and curiosity before finally spotting a familiar body figure. It was just like hers. Just like her people.

However, she observed what they were wearing and was immediately bewildered. What ARE those? Those... Those... things... That they were wearing. How could they move with those things? It was strange. The male population in her islands always wore only one cloth.

Speaking of her people, she knew she had to warn them - although none of them were living on this specific place* - but she couldn't help but be curious of these outsiders. Everything about them was new to her. Their clothes, their equipment, even their faces!

She was too busy thinking about trivial stuff that she didn't notice them already walking in her shore.

They were speaking in a language that she didn't understand. A guy with a beard was ordering the others while a carefree looking guy with brown hair and green eyes seems to be looking for an area with shade. His eyes glanced at his surroundings and landed on a pair of black orbs.

The girl's feet were frozen in fear. He saw her. And worse, he was coming towards her. He stopped when he noticed she was shaking in fear and kneeled down to her height. Both of them were hidden behind the tree's thick trunk, both never breaking eye contact.

He was confusing. With his green eyes and his brown hair. He was trying to talk to the small girl in his native language to which she, obviously, did not understand. To her, he was speaking gibberish. So, she gave him a clueless look in hopes of him understanding what that meant.

Finally, he got the message. So he stopped speaking and pointed to himself and started to speak again. But this time, he repeated the same word. "España" he said. When he saw that you still didn't get it, he repeated, "España."

She just stared at him.

He stood up with a heavy sigh. This was going nowhere. He was about to walk away when-

"España." He suddenly halted. He saw a small hand tugging on his pants, another hand pointing at him, and big doe eyes staring at his own. This caused Spain to smile broadly.

He once again crouched down and said, "Si! España! ¿Cómo se llama?" And he then pointed at her.

She just shrugged. She couldn't provide him an answer since they never gave her a name.

He smiled at her again and glanced at his men. Magallanes*  was preparing what they needed for the night.

"Okay, niña. I don't really get it, but okay."

None of them were living in this specific place* - I read something about Homonhon being a uninhabited place when Magellan landed there

Magallanes* - It's Magellan's spanish name. Since Magellan is english and it was a bit more like Spain's point of view, I decided to use his spanish name

Hellooo peopleeee~! So that was The Pearl of the Orient Seas! How was it? :3

And yes. My grammar is bad. I know ;-;

This idea suddenly popped out of my brain and - someone told me I wasn't being patriotic enough ^^; - I decided to make this. Even though it made me read some old books about how the Philippines came to be and blah blah blah, stuff like that. If you have questions, I will try my best to provide an answer ^^;

I'm pretty sure I would make slow updates and by slow, I mean very slow updates but I'll try to update as fast as I can.
