Trope 15

"Where is that wretched girl?"

"Ma'am, this is a private hospital..."

"Do you think I care? Bring me Wang Ming Yue this instant or I'll call on your superiors to make sure of your immediate dismissal!"

"Uh oh," muttered Lee Chang-Min, ducking behind a wall and hurriedly texting his friend a warning.

Leave the hospital pronto. They found your location.

I bet The Lis look pretty peeved right now, she texted back.

Hurry!

Sighing, Wang Ming Yue looked up from her phone, and gazed at her fiancée longingly.

Too bad he was still in a coma, but at least he was alive.

Grabbing her purse, she patted his cheek and set off to find the stairs.

If luck would have it, (and she never had good luck-thanks drama!), they would take the elevator so she had to get out of there fast!

"STOP right there!", shouted a high-heeled Uighur diva.

Turning around, she said, "Long time no see, Madam Li...how have you been recently?"

"Perturbed that my son's fiancée has tried to run away. But we can quickly rectify that situation."

"Guards!", she hollered as multiple bodyguards swarmed her in the hallway.

This was the time when she regretted on not taking martial arts lessons.

How she hated being a damsel in distress!

#?. Mother-in-law must mess with female lead, usually make her a damsel in distress in the process.

She had lost count of the drama cliches at this point.

"Get away from her," grunted an intimidating man with dark shades and a no-nonsense attitude.

Great...her day just kept getting better.

"I can handle this, Li Jun," she muttered.

Ever since the whole non-admittal of love incident, she had been avoiding him, even shooing him out of Chin-Hae's room.

Ming Yue couldn't take the chance that he was lying...or

#??. Main lead pretending not to love female lead for her benefit, or what he thinks is best for her.

Why couldn't things be normal like before?

She sighed. Oh how she missed the days she would gorge on k-dramas and fantasize about escaping the real world.

Being stuck in a drama wasn't the cakewalk she supposed to be in the beginning.

Honestly, it was getting old. When would she be able to take charge of her own destiny?

"No one moves until we clear this up," stated a collected Li Jun with fire raging in his eyes.

"Son, the jianghu is..."

"I could care less about that. Let her live her life and leave her alone. She is not bound to a treaty or the machinations of two families without her consent. Wang Ming Yue has made her choice. Now let her lie in it."

"Why you! Must you defend this girl who messed with your head like this? You are the heir to the Li company and must take your proper place in the jianghu!"

Shielding her with his arm, he stood taller, adding, "That has nothing to do with her."

"For once, I agree."

Two powerful arms pulled men down, and kicked them to the side, leaving a furious boxer in its wake.

Song Chin-Hae was back.

And he was taking no prisoners.

"You're awake?", Wang Ming Yue squeaked.

"Detective Hua. Are these people trespassing?", he asked to a casually-dressed man eating a hotdog in the hallway.

"Yeah," he mumbled in between bites. Taking handcuffs out, he grinned and kindly showed them the way out.

Making sure to pass through all the hospital on his merry way.

Lee Chang-Min rushed in from the stairs, panting and said, "Give...me...a...minute."

"Never been the best runner, have you?", Li Jun retorted.

"Neither have you," his best friend quipped back.

"Who run the torch at the Olympics and was a cross country athlete in high school?"

"Who got cramps after doing too much dancing?"

"That was one time seriously..." Li Jun placed his hand to his forehead, scoffing with a visible grin on his face.

"Next time, watch who you're messing with," teased Lee Chang-Min.

"Like Chin-Hae? That dude is some heavy hitter," Li Jun remarked, his grin fading into a frown as he faced the formerly comatose patient head on.

"Took your time getting here, didn't you?"

Wang Ming Yue gravitated to the male lead's side, holding onto his arm tightly while saying, "I missed you honey."

"I missed you too," he said, looking deep into her eyes.

"What you did was very chivalrous and all, but since you just woke up..."

"You weren't in on it then," Li Jun exclaimed, frankly not shocked at this discovery.

"What are you talking about, Li Jun? Can you not see this poor man has been through enough? With his family and..."

"How long have you known?", Song Chin-Hae asked Li Jun.

"Over a month. Almost as long as you've been pretending. You know...I thought you were good for her."

"And?"

"You're despicable. Here we were worried you were never gonna wake up...concerned you were dying, grieving for those poor souls and what were you doing? Yeah, just being selfish."

"I had the rest of my family to protect," he said as he moved in front of Wang Ming Yue.

"And what about us? Do your friends and family who died not count? You put Ming Yue through so much suffering, and for what? To get yourself pulled deeper into this mess? Have you even made any progress?"

"I have."

"Good for you," he sarcastically snapped.

"You know what-you're the hypocrite here. Your family is the cause of all this! And you stand there throwing accusations...when will you figure out you're throwing stones, yet you live in a glass castle."

"I know. The problem is not that I am unaware. However, I don't hide from it. I'm direct and blunt to a fault. Lies disgust me, and I see you're just like the Songs from the past."

Song Chin-Hae cackled, tears running down his face. "Let me guess, the ones that died?"

"No. The rulers of the underworld whose misdeeds are too horrendous to even be mentioned, making my family look like saints in comparison. Don't judge me on the sins of the Lis when you can't wipe the red out of your ledger for a thousand years."

To say she was shocked he lied to her was an understatement.

"I need to take a walk...", she whispered, leaving the two men arguing.

In dramas, she always loved when the second main lead and male lead fought over the girl. It was cheesy and ridiculous, but at least the girl was 'loved' by someone.

In real life...it was just plain dumb. It was better for the girl to leave the two fools, and go off on her own.

Now, they were not even arguing over her, but the ethics of his decision.

Was it worth it?

Fooling everybody into thinking he died/ was dying really for the greater good?

Then...there was only one question left.

Why was her heart so troubled?

Meanwhile, a certain model observed the interaction from a far, and noticed the young lady disappearing out of sight.

Feeling a strange feeling in her gut, Zhang Ying Yue instinctively knew who she was.

Was hate at first sight even possible?

Author's note: Y'all wanna know how did Li Jun know where she at? Stalking. Plain and simple.

Who bets she forgives him? What am I talking about? Love trumps all! *gags* (I mean I still ship them (as a reader), but not telling her was a douche move.)
