General fiction may not always be as flashy as fantasy or as intricate as historical fiction, but it's definitely a powerful genre in its own right. General fiction tells us about struggles faced by the average person; stories we can understand on a personal level.

Sometimes it gives people hope to keep going no matter how hard things may get, and therein lies its power.

I'd like to start by thanking my judges and The Peacock Show for hosting the awards. I am in total shock right now that I am the overall winner in general fiction. I'm extremely grateful that my book has been accepted with open arms and that judges and readers have enjoyed it. I thought no one would read it at all or even like Daniela and Vincent! Those two are very dear to my heart. They say write what you know and I finally decided to do that and that honesty has paid off. Thank you again!
