Origin Chapter B: The Peacekeeper And His Weapon

Right after the Dance, Blue was about to go to bed when he couldn't help but gaze at his Power Pole. He smiled and started to reminiscent about the past....when he first took hold of it.

[The Emerald Forest – One Year Later]

Blue Light, now 15 years old, stands amidst the lush greenery of the Emerald Forest. He pants slightly, his fists bruised but unshaken, as a few defeated Grimm dissolve into black mist around him.

The sound of footsteps catches his attention, and he turns to see Professor Ozpin walking calmly toward him, his ever-present mug of coffee in hand.

Ozpin: Impressive, Blue. Your raw strength and determination have grown considerably over the past year. Few students can claim to have defeated Grimm with their bare hands.

Blue: Thank you, Professor. I figured if I can take them down with just my fists, I’ll be ready for anything. It feels natural.

Ozpin: [Nods approvingly] That’s an admirable mindset, but there’s something important you must learn. If you truly wish to take on the mantle of Peacekeeper, you will need more than just your hands.

Blue: [Frowning slightly] More than my hands? What do you mean? Wait! Am I-?

Ozpin holds out a long red stick, polished and vibrant, almost glowing under the forest's filtered sunlight.

Ozpin: This...is the Power Pole.

Blue: [Raising an eyebrow] A....stick?

Ozpin: [Chuckles lightly] It may look like an ordinary stick, but it is far more than that. When wielded with skill and purpose, it becomes a deadly weapon, particularly effective against Grimm.

Blue: [Curious, leaning closer] What makes it special?

Ozpin: It doesn’t have sharp edges like a sword or axe, but it inflicts remarkable damage to Grimm. Far more, in fact, than it would against a human opponent. Your strikes will give you reach and versatility in combat.

Blue: Sounds...interesting. Can I try it?

Ozpin: Of course. Let’s see how you fare.

Blue reaches out and takes the Power Pole. It feels lighter than he expected, yet sturdy, as if it were alive with energy. Before he can examine it further, a growl echoes through the trees.

A pack of Beowolves emerges, their glowing red eyes fixed on the two figures, Ozpin calmly steps back, knowing that this was Blue's first test with the Power Pole.

Opzin: This is your chance to test the Power Pole. Show me what you’ve learned, Blue.

Blue: All right, let me style on them

The first Beowolf lunges. Blue swings the Power Pole awkwardly, misjudging the timing and narrowly missing the Grimm. He stumbles back, frustration flashing across his face.

Ozpin: Patience, Blue. It’s not about brute force. Feel the weapon, let it guide you.

Blue adjusts his stance, focusing on the next Beowolf. This time, he swings with more control, and the Power Pole connects with a satisfying thwack, sending the Grimm reeling.

Another Beowolf charges, and Blue sidesteps, using the pole’s length to keep the creature at bay before delivering a crushing blow to its head.

Blue: Okay, I think I’m adapting to this.

The remaining Beowolves encircle him, but Blue now moves with growing confidence. He spins the Power Pole with surprising agility, sweeping the legs out from one Grimm before slamming the pole into another’s chest.

With each strike, the weapon seems to hum with power, dissolving the Grimm into black mist faster than his fists ever could.

Within minutes, the pack is defeated, and the forest grows quiet once more. Blue lowers the Power Pole, breathing heavily but grinning.

Blue: [Turns To Ozpin] That...was amazing. I’ve never fought like that before!

Ozpin: [Smiles Warmly] You adapted quickly, Blue. The Power Pole suits you. But remember, mastering it will take time and dedication. Today was just the beginning.

Blue: I’ll train every day. If this is what it takes to become the Peacekeeper, I'll do it

Ozpin places a hand on Blue’s shoulder.

Ozpin: That’s the spirit. You’ve already shown remarkable progress, but there is still much to learn. Together, we’ll ensure you’re ready for the challenges ahead.

Blue looks at the Power Pole in his hands, the weight of his destiny beginning to sink in. For the first time, he truly feels like he’s on the path to becoming the Peacekeeper that Beacon needs....and soon, Vale.

[Six Months Later – Training Grounds]

Blue moves through the Beacon training grounds, the Power Pole spinning gracefully in his hands. His movements are fluid and deliberate, each strike precise as he takes down several Grimm dummies in quick succession.

His once-awkward handling of the weapon has transformed into a seamless extension of his body. The pole hums faintly with energy, resonating with Blue’s aura.

As he finishes his session, he gazes at the Power Pole with a satisfied smile. Moments later, a student messenger approaches.

Student Messenger: Blue, Professor Ozpin wants to see you in his office.

Blue stretches and slings the Power Pole over his back.

Blue: Oh, thank you. Guess it’s time for another talk

He makes his way to Ozpin’s office, the elevator ride giving him a brief moment to reflect. The past year had been grueling but rewarding.

He felt stronger, sharper, and more in tune with his weapon than ever before. As the elevator doors open, he steps into the familiar, elegant office where Ozpin awaits. Ozpin sips from his mug as he turns to face Blue.

Ozpin: Ah, Blue. Right on time. Please, have a seat.

Blue: You wanted to see me, Professor?

Ozpin: I did. Your progress with the Power Pole has been remarkable. You’ve come a long way, Blue. But today, I’d like to discuss something unconventional. Tell me, Blue....what are your thoughts on magic?

Blue: Magic? That’s...a bit random, isn’t it? I mean, it’s not real or anything.

Ozpin: What if I told you that magic was real?

Blue: Magic is....real?

Ozpin: You know me well enough, Blue, to trust that I wouldn’t lie to you about something like this.

Blue: You’re...serious. So magic is actually real?!

Ozpin: Indeed. And the Power Pole you’ve trained so diligently with is living proof of that.

Blue: Wait, my weapon is magic?!

Ozpin: Yes, it is. The Power Pole is imbued with ancient magic, designed specifically for those who wield it with purpose and conviction.

Blue: That’s....incredible. Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?

Ozpin: Because you weren’t ready. But now, you’ve demonstrated not just mastery over the weapon, but the discipline and maturity needed to wield it responsibly. That’s why it’s time we discuss something even more important.

Blue: Something more important than magic?

Ozpin: Your enlistment as the Peacekeeper of Beacon.

Blue: We’re...making this official, aren’t we?

Ozpin: We are, you’ve proven yourself, Blue. But I must ask, are you ready for this responsibility?

Blue:......Yes, Yes, I am. I’ve been training for this moment, and I’m ready to take on whatever comes next.....it's all I have.

Ozpin: [Smiles] That’s good to hear. Now, to answer your question, there’s nothing more for you to do. Your training and your trials were enough.

Blue: Wait....so that’s it?

Ozpin stands and walks around the desk to place a hand on Blue’s shoulder.

Ozpin: That’s it. I just needed to give you the Power Pole, watch you grow, and ensure you were the right person for the role. And it’s safe to say that you’ve passed every test.

Ozpin steps back, meeting Blue’s gaze with quiet pride.

Ozpin: I hereby declare you as the Peacekeeper of Beacon.

Blue was stunned for a moment before a grin spreads across his face.

Blue: I....I’m the Peacekeeper. Thank you, Professor. I won’t let you down!

Ozpin: Hahaha, I know you won’t, Blue. But remember, this is only the beginning. The path ahead will be challenging, but I have no doubt you’ll rise to meet it.

Blue: I don't want to be arrogant, but I’m ready for whatever comes next.

Ozpin: Good, you can take your leave now

As Blue leaves the office, the title of Peacekeeper now his, he feels the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders. Yet, with the Power Pole on his back and Ozpin’s faith in him, he knows that he is prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

But....it wouldn't hurt to grow a bit more.

[Beacon Courtyard]

Blue, brimming with excitement, steps out of the main building and heads toward the dorms, where Team ALMS is known to hang out between classes. Though not a student himself, Blue had always felt at home with them.

Their camaraderie and support had been a crucial part of his journey, and now he couldn’t wait to share the news.

As he approaches the room where Team ALMS were, he knocked on their door, it's opened and he was immediately let in.

The one that opened the door was Aaron, the calm and composed leader, he offers a small nod of greeting just as Lyra spots him. She grins widely, already sensing something is up.

Mason, lounging lazily with his legs stretched out, perks up slightly, while Sage waves warmly at Blue.

Lyra: Well, if it isn’t the honorary fifth member of ALMS. What’s got you all lit up, Blue? You look like you just won the Vytal Festival!

Mason: [Yawns] Or maybe he found a stash of cookies in the cafeteria.

Sage: [Giggles] Always thinking about cookies, aren't you Mason? You okay, Blue? You look excited.

Blue stops in front of them, trying to contain his excitement.

Blue: I’ve got news. Big news

Aaron: Oh? Let’s hear it, then.

Blue: As of right now, I’m officially the Peacekeeper of Beacon!

There’s a brief pause as the team processes what he just said. Then, almost in unison, they erupt with reactions.

Lyra: What?! No way! That’s amazing, Blue!

Mason: Wait, wait, wait....you mean, like, the Peacekeeper-Peacekeeper? That’s...kind of a big deal, isn’t it?

Sage: Oh, Blue, that’s wonderful! I knew you could do it!

Aaron stands up and offers his hand to Blue, his expression calm but proud.

Aaron: Congratulations. I can’t think of anyone better suited for the role, it was only a matter of time before Ozpin gave you this role.

Blue shakes Aaron’s hand, smiling ear to ear.

Blue: Thank you, everyone. I...I still can’t believe it myself. Professor Ozpin officially declared me the Peacekeeper earlier today. He said I’ve passed all the tests and that I’m ready.

Lyra: Of course, you’re ready! You’ve been training like crazy for years now. Honestly, I was wondering when Ozpin was going to make it official.

Mason: And you got that stick, too. Seriously, Blue, you’re living the dream.

Sage: [Nudges Mason] It’s called the Power Pole, Mason. Show some respect.

Blue: [Laughs] Yeah, Mason, respect the Pole! Before I wack you uptop with it!

Mason: All right, all right. Respect to the Pole, don't bonk me

Aaron: It’s not just the weapon that matters. It’s the person wielding it. And Blue, you’ve proven you’re more than capable.

Lyra: Yeah! I mean, we all knew you’d do something incredible one day, but being the Peacekeeper? That’s on another level!

Sage: I’m so proud of you, Blue. You’ve worked so hard for this.

Blue: Once again, thank you. You’ve always been there for me, even when I wasn’t an official student here. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Lyra: Well, duh. Who else would keep you from punching Grimm with your bare hands all the time? Although you do have your semblance as well...

Mason: Or stop you from trying to outrun a Deathstalker for fun.

Sage: Or remind you to take breaks and eat.

Aaron: We’re always with you until the end, Blue. Always.

Blue: I know. And I promise, as Peacekeeper, I’ll make all of you proud.

Lyra: You already have, you big dummy. Now, come on, we’ve got to celebrate. This calls for a feast at the cafeteria. My treat!

Mason:.....Does that include dessert?

Lyra: [Rolls Eyes] Yes, Mason, it includes dessert.

Sage: [Giggles] Let’s go before Lyra changes her mind.

Blue:....The food is free though

Lyra: You know what I mean! Dumb-Dumb!

As the group walk off together, laughing and teasing, Blue feels a deep sense of belonging. His journey as Peacekeeper is only beginning, but with friends like Team ALMS by his side, he knows he’s ready for whatever challenges lie ahead.

[Back In The Present]

Blue: Haha....I hated that name, Lyra. But I will always allow you to call me that.

Blue sighs and enters his sleeping clothes, before lying down in bed.

Blue: Always with me to the end....
