Chapter 13!

(Hey y'all. Just giving a heads up, Itachi may start getting a bit ooc, I only know up until Naruto sailing to the land of Lightning. Plus I want to insert some humor since this story is going to be a bit heavier. I apologize now if it gets too far off mark.)

A few weeks had passed and Itachi had been letting you heal him every day as well as drinking his tea on time. His health seemed to be improving, allowing him to have more energy and his mood was boosted. He'd even cracked a few jokes. You liked his sense of humor. It was somewhat dry, like yours and Granny's. Your group had made its way to the land of Lightning and you were going to be making your move on the eight tails within the next day or two.

You woke up to the sound of someone moving in the kitchen. You opened your eyes and looked over at the kitchen area of the hideout you were in. Itachi was standing by the stove which had a frying pan on it. He had his arm held straight out from his side and was watching the frying pan intently. You sat up slowly to watch. Kisame never let Itachi cook, so naturally you were curious. You narrowed your eyes onto his hand. He had an egg held tightly. So he was frying an egg? You almost rolled your eyes. How bad could frying an egg possibly go? As you watched Itachi suddenly swung his hand forward, cracked the egg on the side of the pan and emptied the egg into the pan. He did it with such big movements that you had to stifle a laugh. He was being a bit dramatic. He placed a lid over the pan and began watching it intently again.

This went on for a few minutes until Itachi was ready to serve the egg. He slid the spatula into the pan, but the egg wasn't coming out...

As you watched, Itachi became more and more frustrated before finally turning the pan upside down over the plate and shaking it. The egg remained in place. Itachi looked at the pan, "What kind of crap...?" You could help it and burst out laughing. Itachi shot a glare at you, but you kept laughing, falling back on the bed from laughing so hard. "Oh my god Itachi! How do you screw up a fried egg that badly?!" You managed to push yourself up and walk over to him while working on calming your laughter down. You wiped a tear from your eye and placed a hand on his shoulder while looking at the frying pan in his hand. The egg looked perfect, but looks were deceiving. You reached out and gently poked the egg. It was rock solid. Your shoulder shook as you worked on supressing more laughter. You took the pan from his hands and stuck it in the sink, filling the sink with water to let the now nearly indestructible egg soak off. You grabbed a new pan from the cupboard and put it on the stove. "I'll make eggs for you Itachi. Can you get the tea ready for me?"

Itachi sighed and moved to do as you asked. You hummed a song as you cooked. You were still humming the song as you placed the cooked eggs on the table for Itachi and yourself. You sat down and cut your egg. "That song..." You paused in your actions at Itachi's words. You tilted your head to look at him. He had his cup of tea in his hands and was staring at you over the rim. "You used to hum that song often in the village." You smiled slightly, "I'm surprised you remember something like that about me from that long ago." You took a bite of your egg and Itachi sipped his tea. As he lowered his cup he muttered something and your face flushed red. He had muttered that he remembered almost everything about you from when you were in the village with him. You cleared your throat, "ah, well...I learnt that song when I heard a boy I admired sing it to his younger brother one time. It's been stuck in my head ever since." Now it was Itachi's turn to blush. He had been the boy singing it to his brother. "Is that so..." Itachi returned to sipping his tea, face red. You returned to eating your eggs, face red.

An awkward silence hung, with the two of you ate. That was when Kisame came wandering in, "Hey, so it looks like the eight tails is planning some sort of rap concert tomorrow so....what's going on with you two?" Both you and Itachi rounded on him, "Nothing!" You glanced at each other and looked back at the table quickly. "...oookayy..." Kisame cleared his throat and took a seat at the table. There were still some eggs left so he pulled them towards himself and quickly ate them. Itachi cleared his throat, "So what were you saying about the eight tails?" Kisame swallowed his mouthful of eggs, "Right, he's doing a rap concert tomorrow at noon, so we should strike at that time." You tilted your head, "Wouldn't that be the worst time to move, what with all the people around?" Kisame shook his head, "From what I could gather, his rap is terrible, and most people stay as far away from him as possible. Also he's having it tomorrow because the Raikage will be out of the village tomorrow. That will make things much easier."

You bit your lip. Itachi nodded, "Also, the handful of people that do attend his concert will allow easier mobility so that we can get close to him without being spotted." You sighed and nodded. You pushed away from the table, "Alright, I'm going to get a quick layout of the village, then I'll start building my chakra." You propped one of your chopsticks by your bed before leaving the hideout. The hideout was actually inside the village, several hundred feet below the main village off a cliff. You looked up at the rock face above you and sighed, focussing chakra into your hands and feet to begin your climb up.

Itachi and Kisame sat by each other and Kisame slid a glance over at Itachi, "So, what happened while I was away? I can tell from the smell that you attempted to cook, but that shouldn't have had the two of you blushing like school girls." Itachi shot a glare, but Kisame just grinned and leaned closer. Itachi sighed and looked down at his now empty tea cup, "She's had my song stuck in her head all these years..." Kisame furrowed his brows, "Song?" As small smile touched Itachi's lips, "Yeah, the lullaby that she inspired..." "The one you used to sing to your brother?" Itachi nodded. Kisame whistled, "I didn't know that she was the one who inspired that."

Itachi sighed and stood, "Don't breath a word of this to her. If you do I'll kill you." He turned and left the hideout. Kisame smiled broadly, his eyes holding a cold glint, "Itachi, you shouldn't just tell me these kinds of things..."
