Jesika Binet is a princess. Born in a world where you are born with a beast destined to be yours when you reach your later adolescence, she was always groomed to become queen of the prosperous, snowy kingdom of Querencia. What she never expected though, was to have to become queen at the age of eighteen. When a mysterious fire murders Jesika's parents when Jesika is only sixteen, she sets out to learn what truly happened to her parents and avenge them. And she's not letting ANY setback keep her from that mission. The mission quickly becomes a lot more than she bargained for, bringing things to light she never thought possible, forcing her to realize things are not always like they seem.
There is a monster in Madison Vernon's head. Er, at least, that's how it feels to her. This monster is her own self, her own thoughts. She truly is her own worst enemy. She criticizes every move she makes, she rains accusations down on herself like there's no tomorrow, and she slowly chips away at all of her own self confidence and happiness.
When new friends and new experiences, even new romance, starts to appear, Madison feels the monster begin to lose its hold over her, it's deafening voice getting quieter. When tragedy strikes though, it turns her world upside down, forcing her to come face to face with her enemy in battle. That is... Herself. This is the story of a regular high school girl and her journey through battling depression and learning to love herself and the God that made her.

𝙸𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚎𝚠 :-
Hello, I am Jesika. How are you?
I am Miah. It's my middle name, but people use it as my nickname. I am excited, and little nervous.
❂
Chill out, Miah. I am not going to ask anything you can't answer😄😄 Introduce yourself please.
Well, I live in the US, in Florida. I have been writing since I was a little kid. I also love music and video games. I'm an introvert and a Christian. My family and my friends are the most important things on Earth to me.
❂
Interesting introduction, so what do the titles of your books mean?
The Consequences For Bitterness was titled that after the main character 'Jesika' has a lot of bitterness in her heart because of her parents' death. The story does a subtle job of showing the consequences of the bitterness that festers internally.
The Monster In My Head was titled that because the main character, Madison, feels like the voice in her head is a cruel monster pointing out every single mistake and hating her.
❂
Okay...that explanation is really doing justice here, as you have already told us little about your character. Would you like to give us a peek into your stories?
Yes, sure. The Consequences For Bitterness is about a girl that grows up in a world with magical beasts destined to an owner when they reach a certain age. That's what sets the story from other fantasies. Her parents, the king and queen died in a mysterious fire that was set on the castle. Jesika wants to know the mystery behind it and avenge them. This leads to her becoming queen on a long, arduous mission.
The Monster In My Head is a more relatable story. It's about a normal teenage girl who is introverted and mostly isolated. She struggles with being overly critical and overthinking, but it starts to wane as she makes friends. When tragedy strikes through, it forces her to make chances in her life to better her mental health.
❂
Why did you select Jesika and Madison as your characters' names?
Jesika and her friend's names are names l liked that already had a medieval/fantasy feel to them so they would fit the setting.
Madison and her friend's names were actually chosen when I was a kid. They came from little short stories I wrote as a kid; I just developed the characters more for this story.
❂
I didn't know my name had a medieval ring to it 😄😄 What/Who inspired you for the idea of this book?
It does, at least in my opinion XD. It's a really cool name with an even cooler spelling It's a unique name. The Consequences For Bitterness started as an idea that came to me. I had an idea that went sorta like: "OMG, what if we all were destined to a certain beast? And what if you were supposed to get a really good one, but instead you got like a house pet?!" Then I had to actually develop a plot.
The Monster In My Head was decided on after I went through a long battle with depression. Once I got through it, I wanted to make something positive that hopefully helps others. So, it was a way to tell my story without actually telling it.
❂
Yes, the spelling is quite unique.
Destined to a certain beast...hmm, now I'm curious with to whom I'm destined. And I am very proud of you to come through the depression ❤❤ You have mentioned this a few times that you started writing from an early age, how early?
I started writing when I was 7, I think. I was inspired by the Treehouse Series where they went back in time and stuff.
❂
You get inspired by a whole lot of fictional works. Are there any non-fictional sources that inspired your characters?
Lol. I've noticed all my characters are inspired by someone, either from my own personal circle or from media I look at and admire. Madison is a mix of me and my best friend/cousin. Jesika, so far, doesn't seem to be inspired by anyone specifically. But in short, yes, you can assume they all are inspired by someone, whether I admit it or not XD.
❂
How much time does it take you to write chapters for your books?
When publishing on Wattpad, the chapter is already written and edited ahead of time. So, I just take time to run it through and polish it up before publishing the chapter. But when I am actually writing the first draft, chapters take one-three hours, depending on the length and content of the chapters.
❂
What did you learn while writing your books? Has it affected your personal lifestyle?
The Consequences For Bitterness has a lot of themes of relationship and friendship and how to better understand those you love. So I think it definitely influences the way I treat those around me.
The Monster In My Head was kind of like the final goodbye to my depression and all it put me through.
❂
Describe yourself in 4 words
Introvert, Christian, odd XD, sensitive.
❂
Do you try to be more original or do you like to stick to cliché?
Somewhere in the middle. I often do the method of taking cliché and putting a twist on it.
❂
That's clever. What's the greatest difficulty you face while writing about characters in a different timeline from you?
I guess keeping of their flaws. Keeping their arcs and growth realistic and making them relatable to other people.
❂
Do you have any favorite books on Wattpad?
Yes, I am a huge reader. My favourite story on Wattpad is Bea and The Broken Record by wallxflowxer. It gave me the courage to publish The Monster In My Head, since her story also deals with faith and depression. It's a great story. I highly recommend reading it.
❂
What does your family feel about your being a writer?
I am the word nerd in my family lol. My mum loves my stories, and my cousin I mentioned earlierhugely supports me But I am really self-conscious about them reading my stories, so I don't really share much of my writing with them XD.
❂
That's lovely. That shyness is natural. If you could have lunch with one celebrity alive or dead, who it would be and why?
Right now? Martin Luther lol. For a reason I don't think I have to go into XD
❂
Yep you really don't have to XD
If you had to compare yourself to a fictional character, who it would be and why?
Madison lol. I plotted how to tell my story, so it makes sense that I relate to her so much. Outside of my own stories, I really don't know. There's many characters out there I love and relate to. Riley from Girl Meets World, for one.
❂
If you had a chance to do a world tour, which place would be first in your list and which place would be last?
Jamaica would be first. I'm half Jamaican, So I always wanted to go see where a lot of my family comes from. Last? New York. That place looks like a nightmare for introverts (no offence to New Yorkers).
❂
What would your perfect day be like?
Perfect day? It would either be a day hanging out with my cousins or a day with my brothers and my mom. I always have the best days when I am with them.
❂
What is the one thing you would give up to become a writer?
I don't know what I would give much up. Writing isn't my main focus as much as I love it. I actually want to be a therapist. My main goal is to help people, so if I couldn't write, I would find another way to help people.
❂
Such a selfless thought you have. Do you have any more ideas or chapters to publish?
XD No, probably not. I love writing and I will do it as long as life and God allows me to. But if one day I couldn't, I think I'd be okay.
❂
I hope that day never comes and you keep writing as a hobby. What three habits do you think will help you improve your writing skills?
1. Learning when to freehand a story. I am usually a very thorough plotter, but if I am struggling with writer's block, I've found I need to push myself to write without a plot to lighten the pressure.
2. Learning how to write good fillers. I am more of a straight to the point writer, but that doesn't make very long and interesting stories XD.
3. I have a problem with run on sentences. I go on and on sometimes. Lol.
❂
Best of luck for working on them, What advice do you have for your younger self?
Don't be so hard on yourself. Learn to like yourself first, instead of relying on other people to tell you you're worthy, and stay in a close relationship with God.
❂
Is there something you want to share with other aspiring writers?
The best way to get better is through reading. I can't tell how much I learn about a lot of techniques I use. A lot of it just comes through observing while reading. Also, there are youtubers who make content on writing and give advice. They are really good. I suggest you it out once and see what if it helps you.
❂
I agree that being observant reader helps a lot, thank you for that advice. ❤
You are welcome ❤
