Bonjour! Ze name’s Adeline and I shall take your highly anticipated interview on zis fine evening!

Why hello Adeline! I am Winnie, and I’m so honoured that you are willing to interview me.

First off, let’s talk about your book.
‘The Happiest Girl In The World’, I must say, the title itself has an alluring and interesting aspect to it. How did you come up with it?

Honestly, I came up with the title three years ago when I first started writing. I had decided I wanted to write a book, then I chose the first title that came to my head. I set it all up and published the first chapter, then I regretted it when I saw there was another book by that title haha. But then, it was too late, so I decided to write the rest of the book surrounding that title.

Wow, three whole years of writing; I’m certainly impressed. In those three years, were there times where you felt exhausted with the writing process or felt uninspired to write? Or did it all come natural to you?

Oh I so felt exhausted haha. There was a period of time when I just stopped writing completely. To be honest, it was a span of two years lol. I wrote about twenty-ish chapters in 2017, paused from the middle of 2018 to July 2020, then restarted. Now, somehow, it's been completed! I went back to all my old chapters from 2017 and most of them have been rewritten. It's practically a whole new storyline.

Speaking of the story line, by the way, the plot is so interesting. From the moment I looked at the description, I was so intrigued by how she gets bothered only on one specific day of the year. What was the thought process behind the plot?

I felt like Alyssa's character had to get over her sadness. (spoilers) She and Lindsey hadn't known each other that well, and since it happened five years ago, I figured her mind had probably stopped connecting the extreme trauma she went through, sort of as a coping method. As well, since nobody else knew about this kidnapping, she would force herself to put on a front, which was "the happiest girl in the world". I'd like to think Alyssa's often saddened or anxious because of this traumatic experience; she just doesn't show it. A good example of this is the first chapter.

Alyssa Brown (amazing name choice by the way, you’ve got awesome taste) is definitely an interesting character with way more to her than meets the eye. How’d you come up with her; is she completely a figment of your imagination, or did you get inspiration from people around you?

Alyssa Brown is an extension of myself as well as who I strive to be. A lot of her characteristics are mine such as a love of math, her height, her attempt to portray herself as more positive than she really is. I think, though, that by the end, her character undergoes enough development so that she becomes content with who she is and how she became this way which is something I'm striving to do.
I also absolutely adore how she comes up with come-backs almost immediately, though they aren't always very good. She's able to stand up for herself which is something I'm definitely working on.

If I may, can I talk about her name really quickly since you brought that up?

Totally, go right ahead!

Alyssa's name means joy and happiness in Hebrew (at least according to Google). And her last name, Brown, is meant to fit with Ace's last name, Greene. I just thought it was cute lolll.

You mentioned your community earlier? Would you mind elaborating on it, maybe?

Sure, I’d love to!
My Wattpad community is The Script Society, ScriptSociety. I started it with a couple of friends paddiecake999 and ZeeyWrites in the beginning of August. It's a contest/awards based community, so we try to constantly have contests or awards happening. It's basically my heart and soul right now loll. I adore the members of my community, and although we're just starting, we have a lot of things coming soon!

I saw that you’ve won many awards in various different contests for your story. How does it make you feel, does it surprise you every time or do you get used to it?

It definitely surprises me every time I win. When I started back in 2017, I won no awards. When I restarted in 2020, I all of a sudden started winning, and it was like ?? hmm???

If I could just brag a little really quickly haha, I actually won one today and got second place in one yesterday...

It's kind of a mixed bag though. Some people love my book; others hate it. Like yes, yesterday I got second place in one, but two days ago, I got second-last place. So yeah, it's a mixed bag. I think my title is even more controversial though lol. Once someone said they liked my title but could understand why people hate it. I dunno. *shrugs*
