The Underground Hero Association(2)
With nothing else to do, Izuku slowly made his way to the slums. He remembered going there before to volunteer with his mother when he was young and playing with the kids of the residents of the slum.
He was familiar with the residents and knew that even if they were grumpy and nagged a lot, they never meant what they said and were the first to help others in their time of need. Within this place filled with dilapidated buildings, the atmosphere was filled with happiness and hope. The familiarity of this place made him slowly sink back into his memories.
Though Izuku treated the residents with respect, there aren't many people like him around. Most people, including heroes, look down upon them and their situation. Only he treated them kindly, held conversations with them, ate with them, and even laughed with them. The stark difference between him and those 'heroes' were clear for all of them to see.
To them, he was more hero-like than the real heroes and was accepted as part of their big family. One day, some of the children asked about his quirk, to which he revealed that he was quirkless.
The children were in disbelief, as they knew that his dream was to be a hero. They had seen first-hand how kind he was, kinder than any hero they had met. In a moment of impulse, they thought of giving him their quirks, blissfully unaware that that was not possible. They wanted him to fulfil his dreams and wished that he could become famous so that they can brag about it. Izuku merely laughed at their childishness, but took their intentions to heart, swearing that should he ever be strong enough, he would help all of their family situations.
While he was reliving old memories, he continued walking to his destination. A kind-looking uncle noticed him and was in shock, pinching the person beside him to see if he was dreaming.
"Ouch! What the f*ck was that for!?"
"I'm not dreaming! Izuku has returned!"
"Really!? Where!?"
The other man ignored the pinch and started looking around to find the boy. When he saw the green haired boy walking on the road, he wanted to catch up with him. But when he noticed the boy was in deep thought, he restrained himself from doing so.
Izuku, still reminiscing those bittersweet memories, did not notice the situation he was causing. Many people who passed by remembered him and wanted to go up and talk with him. Yet, seeing how distracted he was, they stopped themselves.
However, not everyone that saw him had kind intentions. Somewhere in an alley, a man was sneaking around, before noticing Izuku. His eyes flashed with greed and he immediately followed the boy while hiding within the shadows.
When Izuku arrived at the address, he was still deep in his memories which resulted in him colliding with a door. Looking up, he saw a wooden door, but when he previously collided with it, it felt like a block of metal.
Pushing the door with all his strength, he was welcomed to a huge open space, bigger than what the building looked like from the outside. Several men sitting on tables nearby looked at the door before grinning. Without saying anything else, they went back to what they were doing before.
Izuku wanted to look around for a bit before doing anything else and decided to take a seat.
In an alley beside the building, the shady man following Izuku appeared. He looked through the window at Izuku and thought,
'He is indeed the target. If I capture him, President will definitely reward me...'
As if sensing a threat, the man retreated from the window. With cold sweat dripping down his back, he looked at a needle that was not previously there. Looking at the needle brought the man immense fear, making him run far away from the building.
When Izuku had enough of looking around, he went to who he presumed to be a receptionist. He was a tall and muscular man with a scar running across his eye, giving of the feeling that he should not be messed with. On his broad shoulders was a little girl that looked to be around 7 years old. She was swinging her legs back and forth, occasionally whispering in the ear of the men.
While he was looking at the receptionist, the receptionist suddenly turned his head to look him straight in the eye. Izuku felt a chill run down his back when their eyes met, like there was no secret that he could hide. He felt exposed and looked away, disliking the feeling the man gave to him.
Taking a deep breath, he went up to the receptionist, before saying the codeword Gran Torino told him, "breadsticks".
Hearing this, the little girl whispered into the ear of the man. The man used his quirk, causing the surroundings around the man and Izuku to distort, before becoming something similar to a mirror.
The receptionist did not speak, leading Izuku to a wall. Before Izuku could ask any questions, the man removed his quirk that was on the wall, revealing an elevator. The man pried the elevator open before grabbing Izuku by the hand and pushing him in.
Upon entering, the door slammed shut behind him, leaving him trapped in the elevator that had no lights.
-------------
The man in the alley who had been eyeing Izuku stopped running after placing a distance of two kilometres between him and the building. When the fear dissipated, only excitement remained as he thought,
'If I capture that boy, the president will definitely promote me!'
Yet, before he could continue with his daydreams, he sensed something wrong. He looked around and noted that his surroundings had froze, as if time around him had stopped. The man quickly noticed this and knew the culprit. His face turned grim as he tried to break free. But before he could escape, he felt a cold slash aimed at his neck.
Before the feeling even registered, his head had started falling down, yet, he was still alive. Even when he knew who it was, his eyes widened when he saw the culprit in person.
"YOU! How could it be you!? We just killed you! How could you have survived!?"
The culprit did not reply, standing still right in front of the man, flashing in and out of existence. He noticed this anomaly and sneered,
"This is just a soul! A traitor like you will not be able to stay here for long! When our president hears of this, we will find you and we will end you, Inko Midoriya!"
Even with the man's threat, the culprit, Inko, remained calm and replied, "Even if I do not have much time, I will never allow you to hurt my Izuku! If you dare to try, I will be sure to send 'him' after you!"
Though the man noticed the murderous intent behind her calm voice, he smirked and replied," what are going to do about it?! There is no way you can get him to help, our president made sure of that!!"
When the man finished his words, his body melted into a black liquid, which integrated with the shadows. Though his body had escaped, his lifeless head still remained. Inko did not bother to chase him and chose to look at the building instead, where her son was in. Her eyes were filled with love and self-blame. Though she knew that her son was still sad about her death, she was not willing to reveal herself to him right now, when she did not even have a body.
Before she left, she pointed in the direction of the building, where a sliver of purple gas emerged and flew into the building. When the gas entered the elevator, she nodded in satisfaction before disappearing.
