Chapter 7
Third Person
It was a dark room, but you could see all the people their. Their was Queen B, Deathstroke, Psimon, Lex Luther, Black Manta, William, who is the leader of the Court of owls, and everyone else in the light.
"Where's the boy," Luther asked Deathstroke.
"He got away," was his response.
"YOU LET HIM GET AWAY," Black Manta yelled hitting the table.
"Why are you making it seem like my fault. Sure I was his trainer, but when he got away he was with your talons," Deathstroke said towards William.
"I had no contact with him. He was being guarded by two other talons," He said calmly.
"Do we at least know where he is," Black Mantra asked.
"He's with the young heroes," William once again answered calmly.
"What do we do about his memory then," Queen B asked.
"Whatever do you mean," Deathstroke asked.
"OH PLEASE! That boy can hardly tell the truth from fiction anymore with how many times we've had Psimon go into his brain to fix his memory," Queen B told them.
"The only reason I have to go into his mind so much more then normal people is because of all the test you have on the boy," Psimon directed to Deathstorke.
"What do my test have to do with any of this," Deathstoke asked.
"The boy is like we have been stating, a boy. His mind is fragile. With all the test and beatings you give him it can have side affects. That affects his memory. I can wipe it and make him forget and believe certain things, but their is always a trigger that can make them stop believing or forget. Not to mention I should only have to redo it every six months, not every month," Psimon explained like he was talking to elementary school kids.
"That isn't the problem to focus on now," Luther told them.
"What that the boy could remember everything that we erased for the past 5 years of his life at any moment," Black Mantra asked.
"He wouldn't remember all of it. He would just have brief flashes. They could last up to a minute in his mind, but in reality it would of only been a second. He has those all the time. We just make him forget and once he has them again we restart the process all over again," Psimon informed them.
"We need to focus on the fact that he got away and is with the kiddie league," Klarion spoke finally speaking up.
"We don't have to worry about that," William told them.
"And why's that," Klarion asked petting his cat.
"We wouldn't have run all those test without a failsafe. We are not idiots, nor amateurs," Luther said.
"What kind of failsafe does he have," Queen B asked, now interested in learning more about the boy.
"Well he did stay at Cadmus for a considerable amount of time after he killed Zucco. We put a program in him in case he was to go off by himself and ended up making friends with a certain group of heroes. He wants them to trust him and once they do they give him information," Deathstroke told them.
"We already have a spy in their mixes remember. One we don't have to wait for trust as he is already trusted," Psimon said.
"He decided not to join the team remember. He walked out and unless he accepts, which in unlikely as he was designed to be part of the Justice League, we have no information," Queen B told him.
"It will take some time as they don't even want him to leave the mountain, but once we have a good idea of the layout I will make a visit to him personally," Deathstroke informed them.
"How do you intend to do that. It would look weird if you went their," Luther pointed out.
"It's not crawling with heroes like the watch tower. The middle of the day is the perfect time to see him. It is empty and I just have to avoid the security cameras and hack into their little zeta tubes to not announce me. After that, like I said I just waltz right in," Deathstroke said as if it was obvious.
"And the memory problem, what do we do about that," Queen B asked.
"We just have to wait to fix it. It will start to cause him more and more pain and headaches as more flashes come in," Psimon informed them.
"Why would the pain increase," Klarion asked confused.
"If we were to just start wiping his memory and it came back it wouldn't hurt at all. If we were to start when he could start remembering things, around 3, the it would hurt like hell. We started wiping his mind around five years ago. As so much time has gone by and we messed with his mind so much the first flashes of memory he gets are just going to cause him to be curios as he might not have any Idea what was happening. As more and more memories come through his head is going to ache as it is going to try to figure out what is real and what is fiction," Psimon explained. He looked up and saw a few confused faces looking at him. He sighed and face palmed.
He was in a room with smart people, but with somethings, people just aren't good at understanding. "Imagine you have been forgetting things all your life, and remembering things that you could never recall before. Your brain is already over stuffed with memories. Memories can never disappear entirely. Their's always a way to retrieve them, you can block them off and move them, but never fully erase them. This causes the brain to be over filled. Suddenly all those blocked memories are coming out and and the brain wants to sort them. Then it starts to notice that certain things don't belong. This is what will make the headaches, besides the remembering. Your brain is going to try to tell you that those memories don't belong," He stopped to look up and see them understanding before he continued.
"It's way of doing that is to cause pain when you think of those. Once you finally catch on it will hurt less, because you would have figure it out."
"If that is all I have to leave, some of us have a court to run," William said indicating that the meeting was over.
"I agree with William, except mine is a country," Queen B said as she walked out, calling the meeting to a close
How was that. I wanted to write on the Lights side as they are really never written about much considering people like to use them as a surprise element. I will get back to our heroes in the next chapter.
