Max's POV

Haruhi and I were getting our things out for class when someone called out to me. "Hey, Max", they said. Everyone in the room turned to see Hikaru standing in the doorway with flamingo pink hair. "Good morning." He walked over to me.

"Hikaru? What happened to your hair?", I asked. "Why is it dyed pink?"

"'Cause pink suits me", he said proudly. "Don't you think it's cute? From now on, I'm the pink haired twin. I didn't wanna be mistaken for that Kaoru for the rest of my life, you know?" Kaoru walked up beside him with light blue hair.

"Good morning, Max", he said.

"So, Kaoru's the blue twin?", Haruhi asked. Hikaru walked to his seat on the other side of me.

"I was finally able to sleep all by myself last night, but I ended up having a nightmare", Kaoru said. "I dreamt that my stylist had dyed my hair pink. It was so garish and ridiculous looking, I woke up screaming." Kaoru laughed and went to sit down, but his chair was pushed out from under him by his brother, so he fell on the floor instead. He looked over at his brother for a while before pulling his brother's chair out from under him. They both stood up and glared at one another before throwing everything they could get their hands on at each other while I awkwardly sat there. They even threw Usa-chan and then Honey when he went after it. I sighed. I didn't get much sleep last night after what I had done to their relationship.

...don't tell anyone I cried a little.

~Magical Time Skip~

The bell rang for lunch and the Twins stood in line for their food. "I'll have the A lunch", they said in unison. They glared at each other from the side. "No! Give the B pasta and the D salad! I'll take the F cappellini with the barbarie duck! Hold on! Make that a foie gras poêlé in pérígueux sauce!" They turned to each other with irk marks. "Stop copying! Why don't you just leave me alone?!"

"Amazing. Perfect unison even when fighting", Haruhi said as she watched them.

"I hate seeing them fight......" I mumble as I sit down next to Haruhi. I usually don't eat lunch, but Haruhi wanted me to come with her so I did.

"I was wondering what all the fuss was about", Tamaki said as he approached with the other hosts. "I can't believe the two of you are still fighting. You're a disgrace to the Host Club." The surrounding people took notice of their presence.

"Hey, look who it is."

"Oh, I love them."

"I've never seen them all together like this."

"We've had enough of this", Honey said. "You're both to blame for this fight." He approached the Twins and pulled out a cake. "Hika-chan and Kao-chan I want you to make up and be friends again and go halfsies on this cake. 'Kay? But I want to have a piece, too, so I guess we're going to have to go thirdsies. I'm not going to be able to split this strawberry on top though. What should we do? Maybe I should just take it. After all, strawberries are my favorite. Oh! I forgot to ask. Hika-chan, Kao-chan, do you like strawberries?" The atmosphere had grown thick with irritation while Honey spoke about how to split the cake and Mori eventually came over, picked up Honey, and walked away.

"You're just making it worse. Leave them alone", he said. Tamaki then took notice of Haruhi and I's presence.

"Oh, Haruhi, Max! I didn't think I'd run into you in the dining hall!", he said happily and had a slight blush on his cheeks.

"I was worried about those two, so I followed them here without even thinking", she said and looked down at her box lunch. "I always bring a box lunch, and I was just going to eat it in the classroom. I had asked Max to come along since he never eats lunch anyways."

"It's too loud in here." I say irritated.

"I DON'T CARE IF MY LUNCH IS IN AN EMBARRASSING HEART SHAPE! I WILL EAT IT!", Tamaki said dramatically after a few moments.

"What the heck Tamaki." I say with a 'seriously bruh' expression.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, but it's obvious your fantasies are incoherent", Kyoya said as he walked away with his lunch.

"Max, you wanna sit here with me?", Hikaru asked me as I turned to him.

"Um, okay", I said. I got up from my seat beside Haruhi and went to sit down next to Hikaru and sat down with him and he pointed to the lunch I had made this morning in the school cafeteria.

"So, what'd you bring for lunch?", he asked.

"I have a white rice paella and some Tom Yam Goong", I said. "Two famous dishes. One from Spain and the other from Thailand."

"You wanna switch with me? I had to get something different than Kaoru, so I ended up with stuff I don't really like", he said and switched our food.

"That's fine with me...", I said and looked down at the food. I put some of the food in my mouth and I casually ate it. Despite my neutralness Tamaki's eyes teared up happily. He ran over to them.

"Well played, Hikaru. As a reward, I would like to trade you my lunch for your box lunch", he said with a thumbs up.

"There's no way", he said.

"Come on, trade me", Tamaki said.

"Say, Max? Is that any good?", Kaoru asked as he sat beside me. "How would you like to taste mine?" He got some food on the spoon and gently held my chin while holding up the spoon. "Here. 'Aah...'" Before the food could make it to my mouth, Hikaru leaned over and ate the food from the spoon first.

"Quit butting in. Get lost, Kaoru", he said with the spoon still in his mouth. Kaoru let go of the spoon and flung a plate of food at Hikaru, who blocked it by using Tamaki as a human shield. Hikaru looked out from behind him and smirked with a glint in his eye. Suddenly, they started throwing anything they could at each other, including Honey. Mori noticed and went after Honey only to be thrown with Honey. They even threw Tamaki and Kuma-chan. Haruhi and I picked up our boxed lunches while Mori, Honey, and Tamaki were thrown again.

"I think I'm going to go eat in my classroom after all", Haruhi said as she walked away.

"I'll come with you." I said following her.

~Magical Time Skip~

Tamaki sighed as Kyoya made calculations and Honey swung his feet under the table with Mori sitting beside him and Haruhi sat on the other side of him. I was on the other side of the room, looking out the window. "Looking at the numbers, if this situation isn't resolved I'm afraid we'll have to stop offering our brotherly love package", Kyoya said. "We're down one pair of loving brothers. Oh, Max. I wanted to let you know there is no reason for you to feel responsible. Even though it was your thoughtless comment that started this whole feud between the Twins in the first place." He smiled while Haruhi sweat dropped.

"It's not my fault they don't know how to fight properly....." I mumbled thinking while gazing out the window.

"It's weird for Hika-chan and Kao-chan to be fighting like this", Honey said. "It's never happened before." Mori nodded.

"They've never fought before?", Haruhi asked.

"I've known Hika-chan and Kao-chan since we were in preschool. We weren't in the same year, so I never really got to talk to them, but I remember that the two of them always played together", Honey said. Tamaki looked off into space.

"Yeah, that's true", he said. I've only known the Twins since they were in middle school, but they definitely stood out. It seemed like they kept everyone at a distance except each other. Believe it or not, they were even more warped back then. When you stop and think about it, maybe this fight is a good thing for them. Maybe it means that the Twins are expanding their horizons a bit. We should just leave them alone and let them work it out." Haruhi turned and looked at me worriedly as I stared at the sun setting outside.

......it soon disappeared. Leaving me alone again.

All alone.

~Magical Time Skip~

The Host Club was closed today and the Twins were throwing things at each other again already. Kyoya wrote in his notebook while everyone stared at the huge pile of objects in the room with Honey sitting on top. Tamaki seemed the most annoyed. "Don't you guys think that, maybe, it's time to give up all this fighting?", Tamaki asked while shaking to control his anger. "It's driving me insane."

"What did you say? It's driving you insane?! You've gotta be kidding! How do you think I feel right now?!", Hikaru asked. "Every time I look in the mirror, I see his face. I'm sick and tired of constantly being mistaken for you, Kaoru! The truth is, I HATE YOUR GUTS!!" I looked up from my sulking while sitting in the windowsill like yesterday.

"You took the words right out of my mouth", Kaoru said as he dug in his pocket. "In fact, I hate you stop much, I bought this." He pulled a wooden cat doll from his pocket. "Belzenef, the curse doll!" Tamaki shrieked and shook in fear as he backed away. Kaoru lifted up a marker. "I'm going to complete the curse, Hikaru. I'm gonna write your name on his back!" They glared at each other. "From this day forward, you are going to experience nothing but misfortune and sorrow." Tamaki stood in shock while crying his eyes out. That's when I snapped. I ran over to the two and hit both of them in the head hard enough to bring tears to their eyes.

"Would you guys knock it off?!", I screamed as everyone looked at me in shock. I took the doll from Kaoru. "What do you think you're doing?! You don't bring something like this into a petty fight!" I say as I yelled at them frustratedly. Everyone's eyes widen from my anger. "Both of you are at fault here, but, what's really sad is, that you brought everyone around you into your big mess! Now, apologize to each other! If you don't, I'm never going to go anywhere with you and you won't go to Haruhi's house, do I make myself clear?!" The Twins had been staring at me with wide and teary eyes but smirks slowly graced their faces. I gave them a confused look.

"So, then what you're saying Max, is that if we make up we can go hang out after school and go to Harhui's place?", they said in unison as they smirked. They circled around me and put their arms around each other, their other hand on their own hip, and crossed their legs as they looked down at the doll and I. I turned it over and saw the word "Blank" written on it's back. Haruhi screamed as she realized what had just happened. I broke the doll in between my fingers as it breaks into tiny bits and pieces as the Twins embraced each other.

"I'm so sorry, Kaoru. Even though I was just following our script, I said such awful things to you. I'm not fit to be your brother", Hikaru said. They each had tears in their eyes.

"Don't say that, Hikaru", Kaoru said. "I was so worried. I could never live with myself if I ever thought I had hurt you!"

"Kaoru, I'll never let you go again!", Hikaru cried.

"Hikaru!", Kaoru cried. Everyone, except Kyoya who was writing in his notebook, stared at the Twins with wide eyes. I dropped the doll's pieces and it all fell to the floor.

"You've gotta be kidding! You mean, you guys were faking it this whole time?!", Honey screamed. Tamaki and Haruhi fell to their knees on the ground.

"We didn't have anything else to do. We were bored", they said. The Twins laughed as Tamaki looked up at them.

"Twins with too much time on their hands...", he started. The Twins made identical faces at him. "...are the devil."

"Sorry Haruhi....." I mumbled to her. She looked up at me.

"You're going to help me through this you know that right?"

"Yeah I know."

~Magical Time Skip~

"I'm so glad they made up!"

"Okay! It's time to play the 'Which one is Hikaru?' game!", the Twins said to the gathered girls. One girl raised her hand.

"I know. The twin with the pink hair is Hikaru", she said.

"We have a winner!", the Twins said happily.

"So, are you two going to keep your wild hair colors, even though you've made up? It's much easier to tell the two of you apart now", another girl said as I was walking by.

"No it isn't", I said. The Twins gave me confused looks. I turned back to them. "Today the pink one is Kaoru and Hikaru's the blue one. You swapped colors for the day, huh?" I smiled at the straight faced twins before turning on my heel and left. They held each other's hand as they watched me walk away. Kaoru stole a sideways glance at his brother before looking back at my retreating figure.

"Do you realize what's happened here, Hikaru? Until now, there were only two groups of people: 'us' and 'everyone else'. But, for the first time, someone's crossed into our world", Kaoru said.

Those twins have got to learn.
Even if they did play me like a toy,
I'll always be twice as lonely as they were before this host club.
