A Day Off
Since their last battle, Po and the Five have been resting their injuries for about a week.
A highly skilled dog had badly bruised them, and managed to break some bones in the action. If it weren't for the precise timing of the Rhino Guards and Shifu, the warriors probably would've been in horrible condition.
The doctor told them there wasn't anything too severe, but ordered them to take at least a month off from training. Much to Shifu's disappointment.
The first one to get up was Po. He didn't really mind getting up first, since his hunger kept waking him up.
Well, at least he didn't break my good arm. That would've been a problem.
Po slowly got up from bed, wincing from the pain his left arm caused. Looking out the window, he saw that the sky was bright as always, and the villagers below were going about their day as usual.
It's too bad I can't go down to help Dad. He sighed, before opening his door and made his way to the kitchen.
While Po was preparing breakfast, Viper came in. Her upper torso was covered with a few bandages. It still hurt, but not as much as before.
"Good morning, Po," she greeted with a small smile. "Making breakfast again?"
Po turned his head to acknowledge her and chuckled. "Yeah, you know me. Always gotta start the day off with food."
He asked her, "How are you feeling?"
Viper sighed softly as she went to help with the bowls. "Well, my spine is still healing. I can feel one tiny bone out of place at the moment. But other than that, I feel great. How about you?"
"My left arm is still sore from that battle. But my awesome skills managed to save the day!" Po did a warrior pose, making them both giggle.
The smell of Po's famous noodle soup was so amazing, the other four masters were woken out of their slumber and brought into the kitchen. Po and Viper greeted them, and they all began to dig in.
"So, guys," Monkey piped up between bites, "What should we do today? Since we won't be out for another few weeks."
Crane grinned. "I'm thinking about painting a waterfall I had in mind. It could take me a while, but it's better than doing nothing."
"Tell me about it," Mantis groaned. "I don't know what to do, it's too boring here! I'm thinking about sneaking out of the Palace."
His comment received a raised eyebrow from Tigress.
"If you do that, Shifu will end you." She reminded him. "Shifu and the doctor ordered us to stay put to let our wounds heal."
"Yeah, but they didn't say anything about training," Po offered.
Tigress gave him a look. "Po, as much as I would like to train as well, I'm not going to risk being lectured. That is why I am not moving an inch from the Palace doors. And I suggest you all do the same." She looked at everyone sternly, earning nervous nods of understanding from them.
Silence filled the room for a few minutes, before Viper asked, "So... does anyone have an idea on what to do together?"
Po had an idea. "Hey, Crane. I know this is probably weird to ask, but can I have some of your paint? I want to enhance some of my creative powers."
The bird was surprised at his request, but simply answered, "Sure, I don't mind. I could even teach you some things if you want."
Po smiled and nodded.
Getting bored, Tigress stood up. "If you'll excuse me, I will be in my room meditating."
The master headed back to her room, sitting down on the floor and letting out a deep breath. She hated to admit it, but she was a little bit bored.
It's not like I have much of a choice. That guy was super skilled in his style of martial arts, and even took me and Po out. That means we all need to train as hard as possible to get stronger.
She looked out her window, a gentle breeze rocking her shutters slightly.
Now I wish I was outside...
With nothing else to do, Tigress closed her eyes and started to meditate.
