Chapter Two
When I finish talking to Mrs Riley, I leave for my first lesson. I no longer have 10 minute DT but 30. Sighing, I check my timetable. I have Science, Maths, History, Geography and English! Why didn't I bring my pillow?

"See ya, Stormie," Emma calls out.
How can she have so much energy when we learnt about equations in Science, impossible algebra in Maths, learnt about WW1 in History and learnt about ODDL in Geography.
"See ya, Em."
We separate from each other as we go to our last lesson of the day. As I'm approaching my English classroom, I notice new-girl-Stella at the entrance.
"Oops!" I gush as I 'accidentally' shove Stella's bag," I'm soooooo sorry, Stella. I didn't see you there."
"No worries. Just make sure you go to Specsavers," she remarks quietly as if she's scared of what cold happen.
"That's rich coming out from the girl with geeky glasses. Now, excuse me! I have better things to do!"
I sashay into the classroom and take the empty seat next to Sophie, my BFF since nursery.
"Don't worry about the new girl, Storm. I saw her hanging out in the library because she hasn't made any friends! What a loser!" Sophie assures me.
"I know right," I agree.
We both turn around to find Stella, just like in all the other classes, sitting by herself at the back. However, our attention is drawn to a lady with hippy clothes and a headband.
"Where did the school get that teacher from?" I tease.
"I don't even want to know," Sophie giggles.
As our new English teacher marches past us, a smell of cinnamon and flowers waft through our nostrils.
"Good afternoon, class!" our new English teacher exclaims, the bangles on her wrist jiggling.
"Good afternoon!" the class mutters gloomily.
"Come on! You all sound like a group of zombies. Good Afternoon!" our new English teacher imitates our greeting, resulting in the class laughing.
"See! Be cheerful! I want you all to have fun while learning," our new English teacher approves," And so now that we all seem to be getting off on a good start, I'll introduce myself. My name is Miss Cooke and I'm new to the school and will be your English teacher for the year."
It turns out that this lesson we don't write paragraphs, analysing poems etc. Instead, we play games to introduce ourselves and have a taste of what we're learning in the subject this year. It seems like time goes by when you're having fun and it's near the end of the lesson when I check the clock.
"I know you all want to get home so urgently, however I have to tell you some exciting news. Each of you will be paired up and its your job to get to know that person better. What they like. What they dislike. Hobbies. Favourite Memories growing up. I then will be asking you to present all the information you found out to the class. Make sure to be creative as well and see this as making a new friend. So now to the partners..."
I sit there waiting hopefully get someone who isn't boring, but hopefully someone who would have similar passions to me. Looking around the English, there are some decent people who I could be partnered up with that wouldn't be to bad to get to know better. However I pray not to get...
"Finally Storm and Stella!"
OH NO!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the bell rings, everyone talks to their partners, planning when to meet up before packing up their belongings to leave. Sophie wishes me good luck and exits the classroom with her partner, chatting cheerfully. Lucky them! I sigh before approaching Stella, awkwardly. It's like she doesn't notice me at all because she packs her bags as if there's a brick wall in front of her and not her partner she's completing the project with.
"Probably you need to get stronger lenses," I comment.
At hearing this, Stella's head jerks upwards.
"Look at the bright side: there's nothing wrong with your hearing," I prompt," So...we need to figure out how we're going to do this whole project thing."
"Honestly, Storm, can't we discuss about it another time?" Stella sighs.
"Look, I get it! You don't want to be my partner. I don't want to be yours. But we need to do the project."
"I'm just busy right now."
"OK," I say before saving my number into her phone, "I'll call you tonight and we'll arrange something."
Stella nods, absent-minded, before rushing out of the classroom.
