Season 2 Episode 7: Hunting Season

Iris tapped her foot impatiently as her siblings sat around her, "This was a bad idea. Why'd we have to choose a werewolf of all things? Couldn't it have been, like, a Madremonte or something? You know that doing this with werecreatures is extremely risky and dangerous. They have the highest chance of going haywire."
"Yeah, But they're also the strongest and most powerful, and right now we need that. They're coming, and we need all the protection we can get." Roman shrugged.

Aren rolled her eyes, "We got the wolf chick. End of story. Too late to turn back. All we have to worry about is the rest of her pack trying to come and get her. But we don't have to worry very much. They're weak, so we can handle them in our own if things get too hairy for our safety."

Roman sat in a lazy boy, hand petting Kirstie's head. Her eyes were closed, but her posture was upright and attentive, "We'll send her to get rid of them. That way, our hands are clean."

Aura sighed heavily. She was having second thoughts about who they chose. She sorta felt that there were more effective, more easy options to go about, but Roman already cast the spell, so it was too late.
Iris smirked, "I guess you better send her out, then. It's dark out, so she can go through easily."
Roman nodded and removed his hand from Kirstie. He sang a low, steady note.

Kirstie's eyes opened, revealing the wild, emerald green. They looked dangerous. Ready to kill. Within seconds, she was gone.

Roman's eyes widened, "Geez she's fast."

"I'm annoyed that this doesn't concern you." Aura frowned.

Roman raised a brow, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, she's more than powerful. She's a fucking tank. What happens when she finally bites back on us? It's not like we can reverse the spell and at this rate, she'd kill us all." Aura explained.

Roman shrugged, "Cross that bridge, you know?"

Aura rolled her eyes, "Whatever. I'm gonna go take a nap." And with that, she left the room.

"Run!" A girl said, sprinting for her life through the woods. Her brother was right by her side, running as fast as his little legs could carry him.

The harsh stomp of boots and the bright radiance of lights darting around as their pursuers chased them made the entire situation one of dire circomstance.

The little boy was scared. He was crying his eyes out, but he still ran with his elder sister. He couldn't even have to time truly assess the situation at hand. All he could do was run and sob alongside his sister.

A light flashed on them from the front, startling the boy to a halt. His sister dove, grabbing him and rolling out of the way as a bullet was fired, hitting the ground with a harsh noise.

She ran with him in her arms, panting as she started moving faster. She's be damned if her brother died and she didn't try to save him.
She finally came up to a canyon. On the other side of the canyon, a few miles forward, was a small town. A town that seemed to be sleeping, by now.

She looked at her frightened brother, "Listen to me. I'm going to throw you over. You find someone to take care of you. And keep our secret, Okay?" She could feel the harsh sting of tears as he brother gave a solemn nod.

She took a deep breath and her eyes glowed. She changed the way she was holding him, and with all of her strength she threw him.

He flailed like mad as he cleared over the canyon, looking at the darkness below. He landed with a thud, sliding a little bit. Once he stopped, he looked up, staring at his sister.

She was staring back as she gave him a soft smile, "I love you!"

The lights in the forest started getting closer and closer until the figures of men and women could be made out. His eyes widened when the lights all focused on his sister.

She closed her eyes and balled her fists before she looked into her brother's eyes again.

A loud bang started what seemed to be an orchestra of more. His sister shook violently as blood started spraying and spreading.

Soon, the noises stopped and she fell forward into the canyon.

The boy stared and cried, his eyes now turning a soft blue. His rubbed his eyes and stood, glaring at the figures that stood across the canyon. He looked down what he could see of the canyon and then, respecting his sister's last wish, fled to the town.

Rick woke up with a start, sweating profusely as his eyes darted frantically around the room. This was only one of few moments where he was truly terrified. He hated that nightmare, but it had been years since he had it.

He sat up fully in his chair and ran a hand over his ran, exhaling deeply and running a hand through his thin hair. He took a few deep breaths to calm the extreme throb and pound his heart beat was creating. With his ears, it was like a drum being beaten in his brain. He could smell his own fear, and that's what he was hating the most about this situation.

Soon, he managed to at least calm his heartbeat, but it was too late. Connie had heard it from downstairs, and ran as fast as she could to check on her husband.

She frowned and furrowed her brows at the state her husband was in. She walked into the office, closing the door behind her. She walked around to the desk, spinning the chair to face her, her husband with it, "Sweetheart, What happened? Is... is it the memory, again?"

Rick looked down, ashamed. He hated showing weakness to his wife, but she always showed him that the weakness was never taken advantage of. She was always a help. He gave a solemn nod.

Connie sighed and sat in his lap, taking his hand in her own, "Sweetheart, it is okay to show you miss her. For years it seems like you've just ignored her extistence. You need to face this head on, or you'll never be able to escape it."

Rick stared at their joined hand for a while, as if choosing his words carefully. Then, he spoke, "I just have a bad feeling. Like... like they'll come, again."

Connie frowned, but understood the paranoia, "Then we'll just have to do what we have to. And if that means blood is spilled, then at least we had a reason for such barbaric actions."

Rick rubbed Connie's knuckles with his thumb and nodded, "I'd be crazy if you weren't here."

Connie chuckled, "I know, but it's a good thing for the both of us that I am here. Now what do you say we get you out of this office and into the kitchen for some food. You haven't eaten since this morning. Protein bars aren't meals, hun."

Rick shook his head and nodded, standing and holding Connie bridal style, "Then let's get this alpha some food, huh?"

Connie laughed as they exited the room.

"We should probably head out, now. Thank you for having us." Scott smiled as he and his pack stood near the front door.

Alesha nodded as she and her pack stood in the hall, saying farewells.

Matt, in a burst of boldness, spoke up, "Wait!... May I go with you?" He looked down, shyly, as he asked. He'd never really Just up and spoken out like that, before.

Scott shrugged, "Uhm... Sure. I-If you really want to."

Matt looked to Alesha, as if asking for permission. Alesha shrugged and nodded, "If you even need us. You know what to do." She said.

Matt smiled widely and nodded, jogging over to the smaller pack. He was accepted with open arms and a smile from Mitch.

"Bye, Matt. Good luck." Charlie waved.
Matt waved as Scott opened the door, escorting his pack, and new friend, out.

Avi furrowed his brows as police cars sped past his house. The police are almost never in a hurry unless there was something serious.

Avi instantly sprang up, slipping in his shoes and grabbing coat. Within moments he was yards down the street. He loved that he could move this fast.

He took a route into the woods, climbing a tree and jumping from branch to branch until he got a clear view of the scene. He was instantly hit with the scent of blood.

His eyes scanned the area. A jogger talking to an officer, a few dogs sniffing around, and a red heap on the ground.

It was a dead body.

Avi used his other eyes, being much more clearly the mangled and bloody corpse on the ground. It was unidentifiable from what he could see. Whatever did this was merciless. It was trying to shred the person. It was both bone chilling and extremely interesting. Not the killing part, but the raw power of whatever did it.

He watched the entire scene be marked, documented, and photo graphed. From what he could see, it was labeled as a wild animal attack. He knew that was bullshit.

Suddenly, the police radio spoke, "To any units in the area, we have a report of a dead body. Forth and Main near Grand View Park."

Avi was off of the tree and sprinting in seconds. He pulled out his phone, dialing Kevin's number.

"What?" Kevin answered groggily.

"Fourth and Main! Dead body! This is not a drill!" Avi said quickly as he bound through the woods.

Kevin sighed on the phone, pulling it from his ear to rub the bridge of his nose and roll his eyes, "What?"

"Just meet me there, Okay?" Avi said before hanging up.

Kevin groaned and put his phone down, staring at the ceiling, "All I asked for was one day. One!"

And with that, he rushed out of bed.

Avi had to take yet another undetected route to view the next scene. Luckily, he had arrived before the police had. He scanned around for a dead body, frowning when he felt a small light headed ness when he sniffed too hard. He didn't know why, but it smelled great. He felt his head buzzing just a bit, but it was extremely faded. Not enough to focus on.

He managed to spot a body, presumably the body in question. It was a full corpse, lying face down in the grass. It was pale, showing it had probably been here for a few hours. There looked to be signs of a struggle, or at least extremely aggressive actions.

Kevin sighed as he dropped down and sat beside Avi, "Why do you always drag me into these things? I could've been doing anything."
"Then next time, I'll let you nut before I call you." Avi rolled his eyes, earning a punch to the arm.

Kevin examined the body, quickly finding more clues as to what happened than Avi could. He noticed the skin on the neck of the victim was strangely colored. There was a small, yellow spot on the skin. It was slightly bulbous and shiny, almost as if there was a substance build up. He took a short, strong sniff. He frowned instantly, "Wolf's Bane." He whispered.

Avi raised a brow at the whispers, but then learned why when he heard officers walked from the entrance of the park nearly fourty yards away from them.

"Come on. Let's go tell Scott and then we can figure out whatever's going on." Kevin said, jumping up.
