Season 2 Episode 4: Avi's Suspicion

Kevin sighed in content as he rested on his lounge chair, sitting in his trunks with a pair of sunglasses on.

The rough sound of branches snapping and Avi panicking as he fell ruining the chirping birds and soft breeze.

Avi stood, picking the sticks and leaves out of his hair as he walked over to Kevin, sitting in the chair beside Kevin.

"There is a such thing as a front door, bro." Kevin said.
"The tree route was cooler." Avi shrugged.

Kevin sat up, lifting his sunglasses, "Is there a reason you mutilated a tree to get back here?"

Avi chuckled, pulling a caterpillar from his hair, "Yes, actually. It's about this Roman guy."
"Seriously, man, this is ridiculous. Why can't you just leave her alone?" Kevin frowned.
"Because, man... I've just got a feeling. Something about him just doesn't sit right with me." Avi frowned, too.

Kevin sighed, looking down and thinking for a minute before he looked back up, "Alright. I believe that you have a problem with Roman. And, as your best friend, I am obligated to help you... no matter how stupid the length."

Avi grinned, "Thanks bud!"
"Yeah, yeah. How are we going to prove that he's anything if he is something?" Kevin crossed his arms.
"We could try Ghost Ash." Avi shrugged.

Kevin nodded, "Alright. Here's what we're going to do..."

Kevin told Scott about the plan, who passed it on to Mitch. Scott made Mitch swear he wouldn't tell Kirstie, which made Mitch not want to join in entirely. Still, he was a part of the pack. And the pack was doing something for the greater good.

Avi signaled to Kevin that he had Roman in his sights and that he was going in.

Roman was leaning against the lockers, speaking to his siblings. Avi tapped his shoulder, gathering his attention, "Hey! I'm a friend of Kirstie's. I just wanted to ask you a few questions." He said.

What Kevin could hear made him want to facepalm, but he payed attention, keeping his ears sharp.

"Uh... sure, I guess. What are they?" Roman asked.
"I was hoping we could talk about this privately. She doesn't really know, ya know?" Avi smiled.

Roman found this suspicious, but shrugged and walked with Avi out to the field where the track trail was.

"Kirstie's a dear friend of mine. I don't want to see her hurt, or anyone else for that matter. What are your intentions with my friend?" Avi asked.

Roman chuckled, "Well, I plan for her to be my one and only. She's a flower I want to protect from the acidic rain of this tainted world."

Avi was a bit thrown off by this answer, and the accent didn't really help, "Well aren't you a poetic one."

Roman smiled, "I'd like to think so, yes."

Roman hadn't really noticed that they had stepped deeper into the trail, shadowed over by mildly dense woods.

"I have on more question." Avi snapped his fingers, jumping to the side as Kevin came from behind a bush, tossing the Ghost Ash. The ash formed a circle around Roman, confusing him.

Scott and Mitch came from behind a tree, Mitch looking more sorry and Scott more ashamed.

"What is this? Why'd you throw dust at me?" Roman asked. He truly had no idea what the ashes were.

"Dude! Have you guys been spying?! I thought I said no! Come on, Roman. Let's try a different place." Avi said, walking.

Roman tried taking a step forward, but a rippling barrier knocked Roman back into the circle.

Mitch's eyes widened, as did Scott's and Kevin's. Avi didn't look surprised, "Ha! I told you! I told all of you!"

Roman got up, holding his head. It throbbed a bit, but he managed to stand. He looked furious, "You stupid dogs! I'll kill the lot of you when I complete my plan."

"Tough luck getting out, bud." Avi smirked, crossing his arms.

Roman's jaw set and he opened his mouth, bellowing a tone that shook the ground a little. However, this was enough to break the circle.

Once broken, the bellow turned into a harsh, overtone screech. The force of the sounds sent the boys flying. Avi hit his head on a rock, Mitch on a tree, Kevin on the solid ground, and Scott on a broken branch.

"Wait... wait!" Avi managed to shout at Roman's retreating figure before he blacked out.

Tonight was the night of Homecoming. The night everyone stepped up and stepped out. Including Kirstie and Roman.

Kirstie found a dress of her mother's. It was a shin length, frilly, velvet black dress. She wore it with a white corsage and black high heels.

She was a little confused as to why Mitch didn't show up to take pictures with her, but she figured he either forgot or something came up.

She smiled when Roman arrived in small, but cute, car. She climbed in, "Hey."
"Hiya." Roman greeted as he started driving one Kirstie buckled in.

The ride was silent and peaceful, neither of them really needing to say anything. Kirstie found herself twiddling with her thumbs while Roman was tapping his fingers in the steering wheel as he hummed quietly.

Soon they arrived at the school. Roman parked behind the school, confusing Kirstie, "Why did we park here?" She asked.

"My siblings and I are performing tonight so I have to go through the back to meet up with them. After our performance, we can enjoy the rest of the night." Roman smiled, looking over to her after he turned off the car.

Kirstie nodded, "Alright. Break a leg."

Roman got out of the car, walking over to open Kirstie's. Kirstie, however, had the door open and was already crawling out.

They engaged in a hug before Roman jogged to the door.

Kirstie walked around front and entered with everyone else.

The boys finally woke up,groaning at both the pain of impact and the ringing in their ears.

"Definitely a siren." Kevin grunted as he sat up, popping his back.

"The hell's a 'siren'?" The other boys asked as they started to collect themselves.

Kevin found support on a close tree and pulled himself up, "We'll talk about it more once we're prepared. For now, let's tell Kirstie and find a way to stop them."

Avi helped Mitch to his feet while Scott helped himself up, "Then let's hurry. The sooner, the better."

Scott ran a hand through his hair as he began walking home, "We need ear plugs."

Kevin, Mitch, and Avi followed closely behind. "I'll call Kirstie," Kevin said, pulling out his phone. He dialed Kirstie, but all he got was voicemail. He sighed, heavily.

"What is it?" Avi asked.

"She must be at the dance." Kevin answered.

"We had a dance?" Scott raised his brows.

"I've been telling you this since the day of the full moon, Scott." Mitch said, a small blush tinting his cheeks.

Scott thought for a moment, trying to recap. It must've happened when he was too focused on Avi and the event to have noticed. He shrugged, dismissing the matter.

Once they arrived at Scott's house, Scott got a firm slap to the head from Connie, "The hell have you been? School calls me nearly seven hours ago and says you three weren't there! You better have a real good damn explanation for this!"

Connie crossed her arms, tapping her foot angrily as she waited for her answer.

"M-Ms. Hoying, w-we were helping A-Avi test a t-theory he had a-about Roman, t-the guy Kirstie's w-with, And it turns out he's a S-siren, I guess." Mitch stepped up. He was honestly scared at the moment, so much so that his eyes were watering and his bottom lip quivered.

Connie's expression softened and she sighed, "Alright. Well, if you're gonna stop a siren, you better do some research and prepare yourself."
