Chapter One
"Hey, Midnight do you have a bandage? I hurt myself falling for you!" Dusk smiled. "Oh my gosh! Lemme get a bandage!" Midnight ran off to the healer's cave seeking a bandage that Dusk didn't need. "Hey, Dusk, Midnight is like... super gullible! So your horrid punchlines don't work on her!" Luna sniggered, then cracked up.
"Herb yelled at her! Dusk, you should apologize," Primrose stared at Dusk. "Nah, Midnight deserved it for being gullible," Dusk grinned. "Dusk, you're barking back at a Beta!"Shadow, Pluto and Astro said in unison. Ash started to growl. Dusk sighed as he thought. I'm only doing this so I don't get banished. He looked at Astro and Shadow. They were grinning. Nope. I'm doing this so Astro, Shadow or Pluto don't ask to be her mate first. He looked at Midnight, who was curled up inside the Lead Warrior's den looking miserable as she looked up at the sunset . She looked up as she saw Dusk approaching.
"What do you want?" She asked as he came and sat next to her. "I want to... umm..." Dusk looked at his two fore paws.
"Apology accepted," She said calmly, "Now get out!"
Dusk trotted away, while he was trotting away, though, Ginger walked past him. He came up to the Lead Warrior's den. Midnight got up and pawed the ground next to her, motioning for Ginger to sit down. They talked, shared a couple of laughs, then the both got up the say their goodbyes. Violet walked up to Midnight next. They talked, then both got up and walked to the ElderBerry Meadow. Primrose got up and stopped them. "Can I help, you help the Elders with their fleas?"
"You have WAY more important things to do!"
"Yea! You can come!"
"Violet!"
Ginger came up and talked Primrose out of it.
Astro, Dusk, Pluto, and Shadow all gazed at Midnight.
"Whoever asks Midnight to be her mate first wins the bet!" Dusk barked as he gazed transfixed on Midnight.
"DEAL!!!" All the others shouted at once.
"Well, boys, I got this in the bag!" Pluto said as if asking a she-wolf to be their mate was a breeze.
"Bear, can you please hold still?" Violet asked Bear quietly.
"Rainbow, how have you been?"
"Well, why?"
"Wanted to make sure."
Monte came up to Rainbow. "Hello, mum!" Monte's crisp english accent filled the silence.
"MONTE!" Fern came running, "TOPAZ'S EXPECTING PUPS!!!!" Fern shouted and muzzle planted into Monte's side.
"Okay, first, what does any of this have to do with me?" Monte cocked her head to the side.
"Topaz didn't say. OH! She wants you to, Midnight!" Fern yapped.
"Wut?" Midnight was shocked.
At the nursery West was at Topaz's side. "Topaz we're going to be parents, for the first time! Topaz smiled.
"Oh! There you wolves are! Thanks a bundle, Fern!" Topaz's slight accent rung out in the nursery. Fern smiled as Topaz complimented her.
"When are they arriving?"
"They'll arrive pretty soon!"
" Arrive from where?" Rocky thought out loud.
"Who cares, Rocky! Let's play!" Terra sprung onto Rocky.
"What do you need us here for?" Midnight tilted her head to one side.
"Oh! I need you-" Topaz got cut off by Midnight.
"Monte, why do you smell like man?" Monte shuffled her paws.
"I need you to help me through this. Only the best of friends!" Called Topaz. Ash nuzzled Topaz's swelled belly.
"Astro, you really must want to really want to talk with me! You've been waiting out there in the rain! Don't think I didn't see you!" Astro felt very hesitant.
"May I spend the night here? I know it's a rabbit-brained question! I just, there was no room in the Warriors' den!" Astro blushed. If she said yes, it would be the closest he would ever get to her.
"Uh, sure?" So, he lay down next to her. Midnight's fur was so, soft, cushy, cozy, and downy. They both started to blush.
"You know, I've always had an eye for you, Astro. You're such a magnificent fighter," Midnight had mumbled this. Astro felt like he was on the planet Venus! He had never gotten such a compliment!
"Astro and Midnight have been spending lots of time together!" Shadow observed. Pluto and Dusk growled.
"You should get to the hunters' den, Dusk!" Misty had called almost half way across home territory.
"How come, Misty-Wispy??!!" Dusk retorted playfully in a growl.
"Do you really want me to answer that question ?" Misty had barked back.
"No I really don't," Dusk called as he walked towards the hunters' den. Pluto had followed into the hunters' den.
"If it's anywolf that gets covered in fresh mud, it's Astro!" Midnight nipped playfully at Astro's heel. Dusk had watched silently from the hunters' den as they played rain. He felt jealousy over take him, jealousy that could cause devastation and murder.
