Chapter 7 (Erin)

SIDE NOTE: THERE ARE A LOT OF INTERRUPTIONS DEMONSTRATING MY SILLINESS, AND THERE IS A SPOILER AT THE END THAT YOU CAN AVOID IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT DISCUSS THE SPOILER INFO-Oh, nevermind. Just continue reading.

Becky hung up the phone and a sigh of relief escaped my mouth. I hated talking on the phone, I mean, I understand it allows you to actually verbalize what you have to say, but if that is all you want, then get off your phone! Calls just increase my awkward level. I felt a large vibration come from my back pocket. My mom was taking a shower and Adelaide was playing with a friend outside.

I pulled out my second phone, and I saw a notification pop up.

     Crime:

Forest Fire at Wildwood! Go now!

I called out to my mother, "I'm going to go for a quick bike ride. I love you!" I leapt off the couch and ran outside. I grabbed my bike from the shed and rode it to my school, where I put a lock on it. I walked towards the trees, and I could see smoke just behind. I ran into the trees, and looked at my nails. "Well, I don't think I have a choice. And I'm talking to myself like a crazy person. Ugh! Uil, Owl!" I watched as the color from my nails came to life in a swirl of feathers, spinning around me, eventually settling behind me, on my wings. I shot up into the sky and began fly towards Wildwood Park. I could see all the fire fighters spraying the fire, but it was only making it worse.

Really? The first day and I have to deal with a fire? What the heck?

I thought to myself, concentrating on the park's trees and trails. "Get out, little animals. Get out, fly away, crawl under ground, now!" I opened my eyes and when I looked down, I saw numerous amounts of insects and small animals flooding out, startling the workers and onlookers. I saw some heads turn my way, but I ignored it. I turned my back to the fire, and flapped my wings as quickly as I could. That wasn't working, so I began flying in circles above the fire, hoping to take it out that way. I felt a cold raindrop fall on my nose, which caught my attention.

I saw Delfini, standing on a rooftop near by, a surprised look taken on his face. I felt the rain pour even harder. It appeared to all come from one cloud that was only above the trees. I was about to head back when my wings developed unexpected weight. I fell into the now soaking trees, the fire absent. The rain continued, but I felt a tree attempt to catch me, but it failed. I almost hit the ground when a large had made completely of water, caught me and set me down on the outside of the trails, right in front of the large crowd.

I felt my wings on the ground, and my shoulders were close together, my posture terrible, and my head beginning to look towards the ground. I could hear a loud applause as I saw Delfini land next to me, thrilled. I was soaking went once again, while everyone else held no trace of water. I saw suddenly a large camera in my face. My back shot straight, my head went back. "What are your names?"

"I-uh," It was a reporter. Delfini put his arm around me, most likely his way of trying to subtly calm me down.

"I'm Delfini, and this is my partner, Uil." I was staring at the camera in my face. The news reporter had her microphone in front of Delfini.

"Why are you here?"

"There was trouble, so we felt the need to help." I felt him pull me closer to him with a slight tug of his arm around me, but he quickly lessened the grip. I wanted to run, but I couldn't say anything out of pure horror.

"What are you?" The woman pressed, looking to me for answers.

"I-I'm Uil, and w-w-we are superheroes." I looked at my brown feet.

The woman stepped right in front of me to face the camera. "You heard it, citizens of Toledo, we have two new heroes. Their first debut was caught on an amateur photographer, as they put out the fire that was just recently active at the Wildwood park. Back to you, Robert." Alright, that's a cut." I saw her feet turn, so I figured she was looking at me. My gaze remained at the floor, and I could feel Delfini's arm was holding my shoulder in a reassuring manner. "I just wanted to personally thank you." She walked away, and I suddenly couldn't see my feet.

Great. Now I'm invisible. Not when I actually wanted to, but when she leaves-

"Hey, let's go. Stand there." I looked up at him, not moving my head and watched as water from behind me flew over my head, around my body, through my legs, and out of my own body, all getting soaked into the boy's hands.

"Thanks."I flapped my wings and flew in a miniature circle above the trees. I spoke to all the animals. "It is safe now, go back to your homes and reunite with your families." I watched as birds, Eagles, Owls even, flew back into the trees, insects, critters, all the animals went back to the trees, including some deer. I smiled an looked to Delfini, but instead met gaze with a large crowd. I pulled out my phone that was for super hero stuff, and shot him a text.

Me: Where are you? People are staring at me!

Delfini: LOL. Of course they are! u r their hero!

Delfini: I went home. I didn't want my family to get suspicious. u should do the same.

I waved weirdly towards the large group of people staring at me, and flew back to the forest. "Erin, come back!" I waited a few minutes, then walked back to my bike. I unlocked it and rode it back to my house. My mother had called my sister to the living room to eat for dinner. Ribs, amazing ribs, I gave my mom a gigantic hug. I wolfed down the meat as Dandelion, my mom, and I, all watched Marvel movies. Well, I watched it while the other two played on their phones, my sister on mine.

"How was your bike ride?" My mom asked, putting her phone away.

"It was interesting. I got lost, and I had to have the help of some other kid."

"Well I'm glad you're safe." She was about to say something, but she was interrupted by the sudden change with the television. The local news took over the television, and when I saw the headline, I felt all blood drain from my face.

BREAKING NEWS: TOLEDO HAS TWO NEW SUPERHEROES

"As many of you know, Wildwood burst into flames not too long ago. As the Firefighters were attempting to battle the roaring flames, I believe we have some footage. Yeah, so in the air you can see a young female dress in what appears to be an owl costume," It was the reporter from before. I watched the screen, afraid to blink, my eyes glued open.

"That is so cool! Just like Hawk Girl!" I looked to my little sister, whose face was consumed with a smile. My mother had her mouth open. I looked back at the screen that had a video of everything that had happened.

"As you can all see, the girl flying above seems to be performing some sort of chant, and now watch as different animals and insects run out, not too long after." Of course, I knew it wasn't a chant, but I couldn't sat anything. The person filming my act was standing at an angle where you could see my muttering. I watched as the attempt to blow the fire out with my wings fail. "So what you just saw was her attempting to blow the fire out with her wings. This does little, and she decides to fly in circles, which only gathered the fire. Watch closely." We all had our eyes glued to the television. The rain began, and the camera moved towards the direction I was staring, where Uil was staring. You could only make out a dull, gray figure standing on a rooftop with their arms outstretched. The camera zoomed back to me as I began my plummet to the ground. The fire went out, and I watched as the photographer zipped from the trees to the boy, who was forming a water hand, which disappeared into the trees. It came back, holding me, and I saw my wings were just dangling. The water hand set me down, and the camera walked closer, before cutting off.

"It doesn't end there, here is professional footage of me with the superheroes." The screen changed, and I saw me, standing next to Delfini, who had his arm around me, resting on my opposite shoulder.

I was fading in and out, my eyes staring at the camera in absolute horror. "I'm Delfini, and this is my partner, Uil." He was smiling proudly.

"What are you?" We could hear the female voice.

"I-I'm Uil, and w-w-we are superheroes." I stuttered, then looked at my feet.

"There you have it! We officially have our own comic book superheroes!

Quick Author Note:

Want to hear (or read) something funny? I keep accidentally typing "Superhoes" instead of "superHEROES" That third "e" and second "r" are quite important. Alright, back to the story!

"Now back you you're regular scheduled programing." I was stunned. My phone began blowing up. Both of them. I took my regular phone out, prepared to look at the Samsung when I was alone.

Jo: Did you see that?

Jo: Who do you think they are?

Jo: Erin!

Jo: Are you alright? Did you see the news?

I began typing in response. "Hey, Mama, would it be alright if I called Jo and spoke to him outside?" I wasn't looking at her.

"Sure." She sounded distracted. But I still went outside and hit the call button. I had a TracFone, so I was very careful with my messages and minutes. I used mainly Facebook Messenger.

"Erin! You're alive!" I could hear Soel's voice in the backround.

"Talking to your girlfriend?"

"Jerk," he stated, away from the phone. I heard a door shut and I could hear his voice louder now. "I was worried you had died!"

He was always worried about me.

Quick Note:

I just realized that in the first part, I wrote that Erin and Jo weren't actually friends, well. I lied. I'm sorry! My mind has changed since then, which means some relationships change. I will try to be as consistent as I can, but don't get upset if you notice some mistakes, just point them out in a polite manner, and I will do my best to correct it.

"I did die. I am speaking to you from beyond the grave," Silence. I continued, "I was riding my bike and I went straight into the flames. I am currently in your house putting rat poison in all your food." he paused.

"I hate you."

"I hate you, too. Which is why I am currently haunting you."

"Okay, anyways. What do you think Uil and Delfini are doing in Toledo. I mean, it isn't like we have a high crime rate."

I sat down on the steps in the backyard. "I'm not sure, have you been downtown?"

"True. But seriously, why have they come now? We have police for the small crimes. Yet we have two people with superpowers," he exclaimed, adding emphasis to the last word.

"I don't really know." I was lying straight through my teeth. It had something to do with Shadowman or whatever. One of the kids said his name, and it's been bothering me. "I know about as much as you do," LIE! "So your guess is as good as mine." WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? LYING TO YOUR BEST FRIEND ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY? WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME? "Yep. But, uh, what do you think is going on?" HOW CAN YOU SPEAK SO CALMLY AS YOU ARE TELLING AT YOURSELF IN YOUR HEAD?

"I'm not sure, but I think with superheroes, comes super-villains."

Quick Note:

I'm sorry I'm bothering you! But, I am sharing my funny typing fails with you today. So, you see those few sentences with all capital letters right above this annoying message? I kept pressing a button because, why would I do the smart thing and just press the "Caps Lock" button instead of holding on to the "shift"? I had to type those three sentences at LEAST five times, because I kept deleting it. I'm so smart sometimes!

FINAL Note from the Author (for this part, at least):

So, I am currently writing this from a corner of a big theatre while awaiting the time a group of my fellow students and I to go onstage to perform in a large, school performance thing. I have had about twelve hours to type my stories, but I didn't have access to Wi-Fi most of that time, so yeah. I was able to start and finish the first part of the FanFiction, (I published it. Updates every Friday. I'm really proud of it!) and I finished this chapter that began with only a paragraph. Wish me luck, it's opening night! We are only having two performances, once tonight and the other tomorrow. I'll be cleaning most of the day, so I'll most likely post my two chapters sometime at night. Like I said, I have no Wi-Fi at this specific theatre. I am open to suggestions on this story, and all of my other ones, just shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do. I'll also start doing spoiler alerts if that is alright with you. They won't be in every chapter, just the ones where I really want to say something so people have something to look forward to. You can ignore it if you want.

SPOILER ALERT! WATCH YOUR EYES IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU WANT TO SKIP IT, JUST SCROLL DOWN REALLY FAST. THERE ARE TWO LINES BELOW, EITHER READ BOTH OF THEM OR JUST READ THE BOTTOM ONE. THANK YOU!

George/Jo finds out both heroes identities before they find out each other's. (First Delfini, then Uil)

Alright, if you just scrolled right past that, I applaud you for the restraint. Now go read! If you have read the spoiler, it won't happen in the next chapter, but it takes a few to get there.
