1-5: The Rise of the Great Fortress of the Twelve Emperors
The mage looked shocked at the group that has appeared where Gazef had been just a second before. I snorted at his surprise.
"And who are you supposed to be?" He asked after a brief silence.
"A group of people that you pissed off to an extreme amount with your talk of entirely killing our newfound property, sorry, subjects." Emp said.
I growled at his mess up.
"Really?" I growled at him.
"Like I said," he whispered, "I have trouble looking at humans as anything but insects."
I snorted.
"You better not see my kids in that way." I snapped.
"Believe me, I won't." He said.
"Done with the private chat?" The mage asked.
"No, give us an hour." I snapped sarcastically.
His eye twitched at that.
"Kill them." He told his cronies.
The archangel flames attacked us, but did no damage to anyone. The five players all laughed at the pathetic mage.
"Is that the best you've got?" I taunted.
"I think rain hits harder than those monsters did." Win snorted.
Emp, Esy and Gold just kept laughing. The mages were now more than frightened of us.
"Dominion Authority, kill these transgressors!" The mage screamed.
The giant archangel flame came at us, but I simply blocked the attack with my left hand, which didn't have a sword in it at the moment, since I didn't need to fight punks like this seriously. The mages were now very terrified, and when I one shot their angel, they only became more terrified.
"Fear not my brothers!*looks to us* You are very lucky, dogs. For now I shall summon the highest level of angel to smite you down!" The head mage said, pulling out a crystal from his robes.
"Careful, Silver. That is a sealing crystal, it may contain magic that is dangerous to us." Emp said.
"Very well then. My guard, be prepared for a powerful attack." I cautioned.
"Yes sir!" They replied.
I stood protectively in front of Esmerelda, Win did the same for Gold. My guards formed a shield wall for Emp. We were prepared for anything, we would, however, be severely disappointed by what happened next.
The 'Angel' was, in fact, summoned. Yes, a low level player might have trouble with it, but for us, just like the 'angels' before it, it's child's play. Emp facepalmed at the fact that we were doing enough to think that this man's idea of a strong creature fits our idea of strength. Win and I just dumbly got out of the protective stances we were in. My guards lowered their shields slowly, seeing that their superiors were so baffled at their own over cautiousness.
"Is this not a threat, Lord Silver?" Arron asked.
"No, it's not. It might be for a mid level player, but we surpassed the gods themselves. This is not a true threat to us." Emperator muttered.
I spat on the ground.
"An Oberon, really? That's the best you got?" I sneered.
"You are so terrified that you resort to grandstanding, aren't you?" The head mage mocked.
"No, not really..." I trailed off.
"Just insulted." Esmerelda finished for me.
"Whatever, Oberon, destroy these infidels!" He screamed.
The attack came, I took such insignificant damage that I found it funny. The others in the group, aside from the other knights, took even less damage since they had higher resistance to magic than I did. We all started laughing, the knights were beyond pissed.
"So this is what a minor paper cut feels like!" I laughed.
"I forgot what pain felt like, honestly." Winup snickered.
"So this, this was pain. I find that I don't enjoy it, so I'll be destroying your little toy now." Emperator chuckled darkly.
"What?!" The head mage cried.
"Black Hole." Emperator said after lifting a single arm and pointing a finger at the Oberon.
A hole opened in the universe for a short period, then closed, taking the Oberon with it. One of the mages freaked out so much that he shot a projectile at Emp. His head flew off of his body, after I not only stopped the projectile, but threw it back at the man. The man beside him looked at where he had been in shock.
"Silver, there was no need to put that much effort into squishing an insect." Emp said.
"There was no actual effort put into that. Besides, there is a proper ladder of challenge to climb before any of these humans can even think about challenging you. He's lucky he only skipped ten rungs, he should be glad that he got away with such a clean death." I growled.
"What do you mean? 'Humans'? What manner of monster are you if you are not human?" The head mage asked, scared shitless.
"What's wrong, never met twelve werewolves, an elder lich, a doppelganger, and a dark elf before?" I growled.
"I'm sorry, but I did not ask for your names." The head mage said.
"I'm Silver, he's the Golden Emperor, Phish, he's Winup, she's Esmerelda, and she's Gold. The ten knights are my personal guard. The Emperor left his personal retinue behind as a sign of good will to the villagers who are now citizens of the United Republics, a new nation with The Great Fortress of The Twelve Emperors as it's capital. The countries main beliefs are freedom of religion and tolerance to any and all other species who wish to live in it." I recited from memory.
"I, see." The head mage mumbled.
"The very same citizens who you just carelessly threatened with death barely thirty minutes before now. We are their guardians now, not some puny human kingdom." I said.
"Please, let me go free Sir, no Lord Phish!" The mage pleaded.
"Emperor!" I roared at the insolent whelp.
The mage shrunk back in fear at my outburst.
"What was it you told my ally from the Reestize Kingdom? Ah, yes. 'Resistance is futile, so lay down like a good dog and die'." Phish said.
The man's screams of terror were far too loud for my liking, so at some point I cut his voice box so that I didn't have to hear him. The Fortress's healing magic could repair the damage done, and I had done it with surgical precision, so it was no major loss.
"Was that really necessary?" Emperator asked me.
"No, but he was annoying." I said.
The mages who had been the screamer's underlings all fainted from fear at this point.
When the party returned to the village, Albedo immediately began fussing over Phish. Now that this was happening, I felt bad for Josh, what had been a harmless prank, now was causing him a huge headache. Esy immediately found the two girls, and started to spend some time with them. Esy learned their names, the older one is Enri, and the younger one is Nemu. The two seemed to really attach themselves to Esy, she has that effect on children after all. My interaction with them was less than stellar, but they didn't run in fear from me. I still gave them time to get to know Esy before I added myself to the picture though.
"Sir?" Enri asked, getting my attention.
"What is it child?" I asked while kneeling down, a little worried that I was scaring her.
"Would you mind, if I called you father?" Enri asked.
I was stunned by this. Could it be that she wants an escape of reality, or does she truly wish to see me as a father figure.
"Enri, as much as I would love to say yes, you should mourn for your biological parents first." I said, a tear running down my face.
"I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?" Enri asked, a little fearfully.
"No, you didn't child. It's just we both lost people precious to us. I think it's best that we mourn for them before replacing them in our lives, don't you?" I said.
She nodded in understanding, and so I continued.
"Call me father in a year or two, same for Esmerelda, the woman who you were just speaking with. We would be over the moon to have you and your sister call us your parents, but now is not the time. Now is the time for mourning the dead and those we have lost." I said, tears running down my cheeks from joy and sorrow.
Enri looked a little startled at my tears, and I wouldn't blame her. In her eyes I was one of the strongest beings in existence, and I was brought to tears by her wanting to be my surrogate daughter. I smiled warmly at the girl and brought her up to sit on my shoulders. We began walking to Esmerelda and Nemu, her laughing at some of the bad jokes I was making, and me feeling much better.
