<this takes place right after the book happens>

Soda's heart was still broken. He couldn't stop thinking about Sandy. He was done with women. 

One day, all five boys were in the Curtis' living room and Steve stood up right in front of Soda. "Soda," he began, "I've known you since as long as I can remember. You've always been my best friend and we had each others back. When that bitch Sandy broke your heart, she broke mine too. I can't stand seeing you like this. I love you, Sodapop Patrick Curtis." Then he got down on one knee. "Will you marry me?" 

Soda's face split into a smile. He pulled Steve into a hug, their lips meeting. They kissed for a few seconds before they looked lovingly into each other's eyes, Soda's lip trembled with joy. "Yes. I love you too." 

Then everybody clapped.
