<The Talk>

Ponyboy exitedly jumped into the living room with a huge grin on his face.

"I got a date! My first girlfriend! Yippee!" He exclaimed.

"Congrats, bro!" Said Soda, patting his little brother on the back.

"Thanks." Ponyboy put his book bag down. "I need to get ready. We're going to eat dinner and then go to the movies!" He heads to the bathroom to freshen up.

When he reemerges, Darry tells him to be home by 8:30.

"Why?" Asked Ponyboy.

"Sit down." 

Ponyboy obliges.

"Ordinarily, I'd say it's because it's a school night. But you're getting older, and I don't want you doin'........ Things."

"What do ya mean? It's just dinner and a movie. What else would we do?"

"Well......." Darry shifts uncomfortably. "Umm....... You see....... Umm...... Well,........ Um, you're at the age now when,....... Umm..... Your body and your mind start changing."

"Like the hair on my legs!"

"Yes. And........ Other things. Like,......... You start noticing ......... Girls, and they....... Umm...... Start noticing you."

"Oh I get it. You're giving me 'the talk'. Don't worry Dar. We won't do anything like that. We're only fourteen for gods sake!"

The corners of Darry's mouth turned up. "Good. You have fun. But not too much fun."

"Don't worry!"

"8:30."
