AN//What you need to know

So hello there! For myself, I often find it upsetting when I embark on another reading journey and soon realize that it's absolutely not what I thought it would be. Closing the book, I think of what to do in my own works so that any people who decide to skim through the first chapters or parts know for sure what they would find in them?

This is the purpose of this section:) It's what the book is all about and what you'll find in here!

On the easy-going side: science fiction-y world-building, witty banter, a sombre dark academia aesthetic with some bits of fantasy by the side later on.

Secret societies, mafia-like societies - the prior will appear c. the second volume, the latter will be starting from the first chapters - and basically ritualism of various sorts, like in Consuelo of George Sand and also in the many works of Paulo Coelho (Brida, the Alchemist, and etc.).

On the romantic side: enemies-to-lovers, (that's a must, and a widely-known favourite), lots of academic rivalry. But it's very slow burn.

There ain't no YA or coming-of-age themes; however, there's some dark academia Victorian-esque romance, except that it's set in the 2540s, in futuristic England. Maturity and subjectivity are powerful components of the story.

On the philosophical side: Existentialism, masochism, sadism - the darker themes - an exploration of the connection between torture/hedonism, Dostoevsky-esque literary fiction monologues centering on many themes including governmental justice/injustice, hypothesized political structures, social class differentiation issues, futuristic world-building innovations. Ritualism, once more.

Why's it marked mature? The topics written about will sometimes include ponderings on hate, suicide, abuse, death, pain, masochism, a bit of sadism, toxicity, the cell mayhem of human sin, demonic themes, blood. But the objective of the story is to prove that none of the mentioned topics are even in the slightest, bewitching, alluring or, God forbid, goals of life.

This story is quite dark, though, so it may not be suited for everybody. However, there are light themes, and mirthful moments -- it won't be something Jesus Ignacio Aldapuertian or De Sadean. There'll be a few breaks.

I promise there's a happy ending.
