Rescued

Launchpad McQuack was in his garage, working on a special project. "Whatcha building, L.P.?" Dewey came into the room with a can of pep in hand. He slurped loudly from his drink. "Well, it's kind of a secret, but," Launchpad said from underneath the draped over creation. "I guess I could tell you." He climbed out from under his project. "It's a high tech, fancy shmancy-" They heard a knock at the door. "Launchpad? You home?" a voice called.

The two of them walked to the door and Launchpad pressed to opener button. The garage door went up with a rickety creeking sound. It hurt both of their ears along with whose ever was outside. Launchpad smiled when he saw who was at the door. "Drake!" "Launchpad I need your help," Darkwing said. Dewey jumped in with, "Oh my gosh! Darkwing! Last time I saw you, we were at the movie studio. It was on fire, remember?"

"Yeah, kid. Anyway, no time to chat. Gosalyn's been kidnapped!" Darkwing said. "Who's that?" Dewey asked. "She was a little girl we saved from a crime boss that he adopted," Launchpad explained. "And someone kidnapped her!" Darkwing shouted. "Do you know who? Did they leave a note?" Dewey asked."No, I don't and yes, they did. It said to meet them at the St. Canard pier at nine tonight. Bring no weapons. But it didn't say anything about friends."

"Cool! Let's go rescue her," Dewey said. He began to run for the door when Launchpad caught him. "Hang on. Nine isn't for another several hours." "We could think of a plan till then," Darkwing said. "Oh, that reminds me, I built a-" Launchpad began, but was cut off.

Louie and Huey came running in screaming. "Don't let her get me!" Huey shouted. "You can't hide forever, spies!" Webby called, chasing the brothers with a nerf gun. "Why did were agree to play this with her again!" Louie screamed. Webby had them corner. "Time's up," she spoke creepily. Launchpad, Dewey, and Darkwing only heard the boys' screams. Webby and the boys met up with them after they were done. Huey and Louie's feathers were ruffled up from the many stinging bullets. They even had some sticking off of them.

"So, what's up here?" Louie asked, acting like he wasn't in pain. "His daughter was kidnapped," Dewey answered. "Great. Now that everyone knows what's going on, can we get back to the business of saving her?" Darkwing said. "I could beat up whoever kidnapped her with my awesome yoyo tricks," Dewey suggested. Darkwing shook his head. "Sorry, kid, but it's too dangerous for a bunch of kids. Just Launchpad and I are going." Dewey looked down disappointed. The kids left the garage, sad they wouldn't be allowed to go.

The two of them got back to forming a plan. "We need some kind of transportation." "We could use the Rat Catcher!" Launchpad suggested. "No, Gosalyn and I left it in the street on accident. I'm pretty sure someone stole it." "Maybe you should've put a tracker on it." "Thanks. I remember it for my next one," Darkwing said, irritated at Launchpad for stating the obvious.

"What about your Sun Chaser?" he asked. "Nah, it's too big and would draw attention." "Well, then, we've got nothing!" Darkwing said. Launchpad shook his head and smiled. "I think I've got something."

Launchpad dragged his friend over to his draped project. "I give to you... drum roll, please." Darkwing raised an eyebrow. "Alright, fine, no drum roll. The Thunder Quack!" After yanking off the tarp, Launchpad revealed a large, bill shaped plane. Launchpad pressed a button on a small remote and the top opened, making way to the cockpit. There were two rows of seats and a joystick for the pilot.

"Wow! This is amazing!" Darkwing admired. "Yup! Built her myself." Launchpad smacked the roof of the jet. As he did, the wing broke off. Darkwing's eyes widened in surprise and Launchpad laughed nervously. "So, maybe it still needs a bit of work."

Later at the pier...

Negaduck looked down at his watch. Just a few more minutes until nine. He smiled cruelly. He could finally start getting his revenge. He heard a humming outside. "Right on time," he said to himself. The old warehouse at the pier was where he had put his base. He watched as purple smoke seeped into the warehouse. "I am the terror that flaps in the night," as on cue. Negaduck waited patiently for the introduction to end. "I am the salt water that leaves a bad taste in your mouth!" The purple figure appeared before him. "I am Darkwing duck!"

"Took you long enough," Negaduck sneered. "It's you!" Darkwing said in surprise. "Where's my daughter!" he asked angrily. "She's right up here," Negaduck said, turning on the lights. The now visible room showed Gosalyn to be in a cage, tied to the ceiling with a chain. "Darkwing!" she exclaimed. "Gosalyn!" he shouted to her. "Darkwing, I have to tell you something! I-" she began. "Quiet, twerp!" Negaduck snapped.

Darkwing took a breath. "Who are you and what do you want?" "Who am I? I'm you but better," Negaduck replied. "You can call me Negaduck and what I want I'm not sure you're willing to pay." "What?" "Your life!"

Negaduck lunged at Darkwing with his chainsaw. He ducked underneath the hit and backed away. Darkwing instinctively reached for his gas gun only to remember he had left it. Negaduck took another swing for him but Darkwing dodged. He rolled across the floor and jumped back onto his feet. He looked around for anything he could use as a weapon. He found a nearby crowbar and grabbed it. He smacked it hard against the chainsaw to defend himself.

Meanwhile, Gosalyn was standing in the cage. Her hands clenched the bars as she watched the fight. She readjusted her shirt, realizing it would be a while before she was rescued. "Pst!" Maybe not. "Hey, Gos!" The little duckling looked up to see Launchpad. He was crawling along a high bridge near the ceiling of the warehouse.

Her eyes widened. "Launchpad!" He held a finger to his mouth. She quieted. He examined the cage. "Any idea on how to get out of here?" he asked. "Try pulling that hinge. I would do it myself, but I can't reach," she said, pointing. He did what she said and the cage door opened. They both silently cheered. "Okay, let's go," Launchpad said. "What about Darkwing?" "He'll meet up with us. Come on."

The two of them snuck out of the warehouse. "Are you sure he doesn't need any help?" Gosalyn asked quietly, hunched down in the shadows. "He's D.W., he's got this," Launchpad assured. They watched the fight from afar. Negaduck took Darkwing's crowbar and smacked him across the jaw. "Ooh, that'll leave a mark," Launchpad commended, rethinking his earlier statement.

He took Gosalyn out to the Thunder Quack. He sat her down in the cockpit. "Stay here, I'll go check on D.W.," he instructed. Launchpad left her and she got comfortable in the seat.

Darkwing was up against the wall, his hands balled in fists. "Is that the best you've got?" he said weakly. Negaduck smiled grimly. "You're through, Darkwing! Finished, over, done!" Even though in pain, Darkwing commented, "Any other words from the thesaurus you'd like to say?" Negaduck grumbled angrily. He reeled back to punch the caped crusader.

Suddenly, there was a loud gong sound and Negaduck dropped to the ground, unconscious. Launchpad stood behind him with a frying pan. "Frying pans! Who knew?" he said. "Launchpad, you saved me! Hey, where did you get a frying pan from?" Darkwing said. "This is a pots and pans storage warehouse," Launchpad answered. "Oh."

Back at the Thunder Quack, Darkwing and Launchpad met up with Gosalyn. "Launchpad! Take us home," Darkwing said. "With pleasure."

On the ride back to Darkwing's house, he sat next to Gosalyn. "Hey, Gos. I just wanted to apologize for last night," he began. She smiled sadly. "Don't worry about out. I'm the one who should be apologizing," she replied. "Look, I know I'm not a good substitute for your grandfather and I don't really know what I'm doing. I just tell you to stay back because I don't know if I could live with myself if anything happened to you," he said. She looked at the verge of tears. Darkwing squinted. He didn't think her to be one to cry. "Gos?" She quickly wiped her tears, acting like they were never there in the first place. "And I'll try to be more obedient," she said. They hugged and the rest of the ride was quiet.

Meanwhile, in St. Canard somewhere...

Negaduck plotted in wait. Darkwing duck had been so caught up in saving his daughter, he had forgotten to call the police on the kidnapper. Negaduck smiled. He had stolen the Possi-gem from the museum and now his portal to the Negaverse worked. He had already tested it once. It had worked well. Negaduck was ready. The seed was planted. He just had to wait, and hope she didn't mess everything up.

The next day in Duckberg...

"Louie, do you want to come with me to pick up the cake?" Dewey asked. Louie looked up from his phone. "What are we picking up a cake for, again?" Louie replied. "Were you even paying attention to what I just said?" Dewey said. Louie shrugged. "There were new episodes of ottoman empire," he said, shaking his phone in front of Dewey's face. He put his hands on his hips, annoyed he had to repeat everything.

"Tomorrow is L.P.'s birthday and I'm pretty sure everyone forgot, including himself, so I'm throwing a surprise party. I need to go pick up the cake. Do you want to come?" "Nerp," Louie answered. He unpaused the video he was watching on his phone but it didn't play. "Hey, what gives?" he said. The lights then shut down. The brothers looked up. Beakly came around to the boys' room. "The WiFi will be down for a little bit. I hired someone to work on the yard, but he accidentally cut the power and the router isn't wireless." The boys could tell she was frustrated with the man who had cut the power.

Dewey looked at Louie expectantly. "I bet they have WiFi at the bakery," Dewey bribed. Louie sighed. "Uh! Fine, I'll go with you to pick up the cake."

At the bakery, Dewey talked to a rat who was running the cash register. Louie went around the small business looking for the best WiFi. He grumbled to himself whenever he got bad reception. Louie wandered into what he assumed to be the kitchen of the establishment. No one was in there. At the back of the kitchen was a large cake, taller than him and his brother combined. "I'm sure they won't mind if I'm back here for just a little bit," he said to himself, sneaking in. He held his phone up in the air, searching. It was like a game of hot and cold. He followed wherever the signal got stronger and stayed away from where it got weaker. He finally found that the strongest point was by the large cake.

Louie smiled. "Yes! Hello, internet." The cake had an iron step ladder by it to reach the top. He found the higher he went, the better signal he got. He waved his phone in the air. "Come on, come on." He waved it behind him over the cake. He went too far and began to stumble. He tried to regain his balance, unsuccessfully. He fell back into the cake.

...

Dewey collected the cake from the rat running the humble establishment. He handed him the money and grabbed his receipt. "Okay, that's everything. Come on, Louie. Louie?" The blue duckling looked around for his brother. "Coming," he heard Louie call. Louie came soon out of the kitchen door. Dewey looked at him strangely. Louie had his sweatshirt tied around his waist and he had a bit of mud on his white shirt underneath. "You took your sweater off," Dewey noted. "Yeah, it was kind of hot," Louie answered. "Okay. Well, anyway, let's go home," Dewey said. He began to head out the door, his cake taking up both of his hands. Louie ran in front of him. "Let me get the door for you," he said. Louie held the door open for Dewey. Once outside, Louie grabbed the cake from him. "I can carry this," he offered. Dewey looked at him suspicious.

"What's going on? Why are you being so helpful?" Dewey asked. Louie just stared at him confused. Dewey shook it off. "You know what? Never mind," he said. They walked home together, Dewey slower than Louie. He knew something was off with his brother, but he didn't know what.
