NegaLouie's History
(Possiverse)
Stressed, Beakly took a breath in. It had been a long day and the police had gotten nowhere finding her family. She ran a hand through her white hair. Reclining on the couch, it was her first moment of peace in the day. Only, it wasn't really peace because she had the kids on her mind. She worried for her granddaughter.
She blinked hard, her eyes hurting. She just wanted to go to sleep and wake up from this nightmare. As she sat on the couch, her mind ran to the others in the house. Della, Donald, and Scrooge had left. She face palmed as she remembered she had forgotten to call them and tell them about Dewey.
Beakly thought of Launchpad. Where had he disappeared to? She thought she had seen him leave with that Drake Mallard guy. Duckworth lived there too, but he was rarely around, spending most of his time in the underworld. She could at least ask him about Dewey and Webby, so she could confirm whether or not they were... still living.
Then thoughts about Huey and Louie came into her mind. Beakly sat up. She hadn't heard from them for a while. She went silent and listened. It was quiet. Too quiet. When you lived with three preteen boys, two at the moment, any amount of silence was too quiet. She stepped up the stairs.
"Huey? Louie? What are you two up to?" she called. There was no answer. Raising an eyebrow, she stepped into their room. She was surprised to see no one there. She investigated the room. "Boys?" she tried again. She frowned frustrated when no one responded.
Beakly was about to call out again, but a page taped to the door caught her eye. She spun around to face it. Pulling the paper off the door, she examined the handwriting. It was tiny and neat, barely taking up any of the space on the page. Huey's handwriting.
She read the note aloud to herself. "Going to get Dewey. We'll be back! Sincerely, Huey," she read. Beakly raised an eyebrow. "Get Dewey?" she questioned. Pulling out her phone, Beakly dialed Launchpad.
...
Launchpad and Honker finished setting the table. They had everything ready for Morgana to come to dinner. NegaGosalyn was helping too,, after persuading Drake. But he still wasn't convinced she was good. She had tried to kill him after all.
"Well, we're ready, D.W.," Launchpad smiled. Just then his phone rang. He answered it. "Yello?" he greeted.
"Launchpad, the boys are gone!" Beakly shouted on the other end, startling Launchpad. He jumped and almost dropped it. When he had a good hold on it, he held it up to his ear.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Huey and Louie went to go look for Dewey," she explained.
Launchpad smiled. "You mean they found him!?" he asked hopefully.
"No, I don't know what they meant by that," she responded.
Launchpad drooped. "So where did they go?"
"Like I said, I don't know! Where are you?" she wondered.
"I'm at Drake's house. I'm helping him fi-"
"You have to come back here. I'm having trouble keeping track of everybody. Mr. McDuck leaves for two weeks and we've already lost his family," she interrupted.
"But I've got plans tonight. We're having dinner with that actress Morgana Macawbre to see if she can tell us anything about the Negaverse," he said.
"I have no clue what you're talking about. Your dinner plans will have to wait. I need you back here," she said.
Launchpad frowned. "Alright, I'm on my way." Then he hung up.
"What was that about?" Drake wondered. "Eh, I've got to go, D.W.," he said. Drake's eyes widened. "But if you go, it'll just be me and Morg. And then it'll be a date! You heard her, I've got no clue how to have a date!" he exclaimed. Launchpad was already halfway out the door. "You'll think of something. Just wing it," he said, then closed the door behind him.
Drake frowned. "We can help you with your date, Darkwing," NegaGosalyn proposed. "It's not supposed to be a date. Just to people causally eating dinner together. And I wouldn't accept any food from you. It'd probably be poisoned," he said, putting his hands on his hips.
Honker came and pushed NegaGosalyn out of the room. "We'll make sure everything goes perfect. You just work on getting information," he said.
...
Huey and NegaLouie stepped up to the bakery. The big sign read closed. Huey kicked at the door, a vain attempt to open it. He frowned then took out his guidebook. "How to pick a lock," he read. NegaLouie raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that kind of breaking and entering?" he questioned. "I have to get back my brothers. Besides, since when do you care about laws?" Huey said.
"Since I realized getting in trouble with the law is not good!" NegaLouie said. Huey went on trying to pick the lock. "I don't think our dimensions are anything like each other," he commented.
"What's it like in your world?" Huey asked, finally opening the door. He smiled at his accomplishment. His version of Louie would be so proud.
"What's it like in my world?" NegaLouie began, following Huey inside. "Well, it's different. For one thing, I don't have a Mrs. Beakly in my dimension," he said. "Why not?" Huey asked. "Well, she's just never around. She left Webby at the mansion and never came back," NegaLouie explained. "And our cousin Feathry lives with us too," he added.
"Neat! He doesn't live with us here though," Huey commented. "Well, it doesn't really matter if he lived with us or not. He's never really home. He's always off partying or nonsense like that," NegaLouie frowned. "Which leaves us with one adult to watch us. Launchpad," he said.
"Wow, rough. I don't know how I'd get by if Launchpad was watching us. He would probably fine someway to crash the mansion, if such a thing could be done. But if it was possible, he'd be the one to do it," Huey chuckled.
NegaLouie looked at him puzzled. "I think our Launchpads are completely different," he said. "Why's that?" "Our Launchpad is abusive. Mostly to Dewey. And sometimes he goes to St. Canard and tortures a little girl there. I think her name's Gosalyn," NegaLouie said.
"Our Launchpad knows a Gosalyn too, but he's not mean. They're friends. But she was kidnapped the other day. But they saved her!" Huey said, trying to bring the mood back up. Then a thought crossed his mind.
"Hey, you said the only adult that actually watches you is Launchpad. What about mom, uncle Donald, or uncle Scrooge?" he wondered. Looking back at the duckling in green, Huey thought he hit a nerve. "I'm sorry, is it a sensitive subject?" he asked cautiously.
NegaLouie shook himself then answered, "No, it's fine. I- I don't mind talking about it." He thought to himself, remembering. "Our mom is what you would call..." He searched for a word. "Not the best. After she had us, she decided she didn't want us. She didn't want the responsibility of raising three boys. She wanted to run free, do what she wanted, run off after anything that caught her eye. So, she pushed us on Donald.
"Donald wanted us as much as our mother did. Maybe even less. He didn't think he actually had to take care of us since we weren't his actual kids. For the first few years of our lives, we were living in a rundown trailer. Uncle Donald wouldn't get work or even attempt to provide, leaving us starving and stuff. So I had to step up and take care of my brothers.
"Later, Donald got into a bit of trouble with the law and went to jail, leaving us three on the streets," he said. Huey looked at him sadly. "Didn't CPS come and get you, or anyone help you?" he questioned.
NegaLouie shook his head and looked down. "The Negaverse isn't so great as to have any of those programs to actually help people. No one wants the police, since most people in my world are immoral. So all the police either hate their job or couldn't care less. All legal authorities are defunded and wicked, which just makes people hate the police more, since the actual good ones can't do their job. Either that, or the criminals just bribe them. In a word, the Negaverse stinks," he explained.
Huey couldn't help but feel bad for his brother's counterpart. In fact, the entire Negaverse. "And... What happened next?" he ventured. NegaLouie started to feel shaking and took in a deep breath to comfort himself.
"Eventually, Feathry heard we were living on the streets. Wanting to sustain his good image, he invited us to stay with him. But it was just to look like a good Samaritan. Lucky us," he said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "And now we live there. Some time later, Beakly came. She somehow knew Feathry one way or another. She was working for an evil organization called FOWL and Webby had learned a bit to much. She told Feathry she would either kill her, or leave her there. So she left her and went on with FOWL."
Huey bit his beak and put a hand on NegaLouie's shoulder. He smiled at him. "What about uncle Scrooge?" Huey wondered. "Oh, uncle Scrooge," NegaLouie began. Huey couldn't tell if he was saying that happy or sad. He waited expectantly.
"With uncle Scrooge it's a bit... complicated." Huey's mind wandered to what Scrooge was possibly like in the Negaverse. Finally, NegaLouie shook his hands. "You know what, it doesn't matter. We should work on finding your brothers," he said, walking to the back room of the bakery. Huey followed.
They looked around but couldn't find a cake. "That's weird," NegaLouie said. Huey continued searching. "Louie said it was here. Actually, he wasn't too clear about the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure that's what we're supposed to be looking for," he said. After they had turned the place upside down, they still couldn't find hit. Huey frowned and put his hands on his hips.
"I'll try to call Dewey again," he suggested. Pulling out his red phone, Huey dialed his brother's number.
"Hey Huey! Did you find the cake?" Dewey asked.
Huey shook his head, saying, "No. Are you sure this is the right place?"
"Where are you at? Are you at the corner where Don Rosa Way and 1987th street meet?" Dewey questioned.
"Yeah! But there's nothing here!" Huey explained.
"Maybe... Maybe someone moved it," Dewey proposed.
"Who would do that?" Huey wondered.
"Maybe that guy that was yelling at us. Maybe he didn't want you to find the portal," Dewey theorized.
NegaLouie listened in on the conversation. "Well, we haven't fixed everything yet. We'll have to find another way to get through to the other side."
