Yo. so one thing that will help you read through this story is the type chart. This only affects primary types of Pokemon, I'll give you an example later.

Water-Grass

Electric-Ground

Ground-Ice

Ice-Rock

Rock-Steel

Steel-Fighting

So yep. So examples:

~ Squirtle, being a pure Water type, would be a pure Grass type

~ Masquerain would be a pure Flying type since his secondary type is flying. 

~ Skorupi would be Psychic-Bug type since his secondary type is Bug.

It'll make more sense in the actual story.
