Chapter 1

I open my eyes and sigh. I just lie in my bed and pick up my favorite book, The Other Ones. I practically know the words to it by heart. Setting it down next to me, I smile.

"Once, there was another world where Pokemon were completely different. There were things that contained Pokemon that humans used. They were called PokeBalls. Humans caught Pokemon. As you can see, the world was very different. How it changed, we're not sure. But we have many, many, theories." I recite.

"Yo, Zerrin!" The door to my room slams open to reveal my cousin, Simin, grinning. "Nice to know that you're not doing anything. Come on, get your shoes on." She grabs a random hoodie of mine that's on my swivel chair and slings it over her shoulder.

"I am doing something." I complain.

"That being?" She snags a hat off of my desk.

"Working on memorizing the second theory in the book." I reply, holding up The Other Ones. "It's important!"

"Oh, sure. Why read where you can find?" She grins mischievously, snatching a big purse from the floor.

I glance at my cousin and raise an eyebrow. "What did you do this time?"

"I rented a boat!"

"Why?"

"Because of the map! Here, gimme this."  Simin snatches the book from me and flips to a page near the back. "Look." She shows me a large map that says "To the Other World" in big print on the top.

"What? I've never seen this before, it was usually just a blank page right here." I mutter in disbelief.

Well why are you still sitting there? Pack your bags, we set off at noon!" Simin exclaims and grabs my hands. "This will be great. It'll be you, me, Chai, and Ajax. We'll prove 'em all wrong, that there is another world out there and that isn't all just a book!"

I just stand up and walk to my closet. "What about school?"

"They never teach us anything. It won't be too much of a loss."

"And food?" I take out a backpack.

"We can hunt!"

"How will we be protected from storms?"

"We'll meet Pokemon that'll hopefully help us!"

I glance up at Simin. Despite being 6 months younger than me, she's still a good head taller than me. "Out of all the crazy things you've done."

"Yes?" She takes my hands again with that stupid grin on her face.

"When do we leave?"

"Ah, yes! Thank you! You won't regret it, meet us at the dock at noon, I'll handle the rest, bye!" She exclaims and dashes out the door.

"What did I just get myself into?" I ask myself.
