Tsunami

Second chapter today look at me go

Don't have any updates, my life is pretty boring in general :///

Anyways...enjoy! :)

Marinette couldn't stop thinking about what had happened two nights ago. She couldn't stop thinking about Chat's kisses on her neck or his hands on her waist and in her hair. It all happened so fast that by the time she had realized what was happening, it was over.

"What am I going to do, Tikki?" Marinette groaned as she stuffed her laptop into her backpack. It was Sunday, and Marinette had agreed to go to Luka's house once more to work on the project. Her feelings were in such a tangled mess she barely knew what to think.

"What's happened already happened Marinette," Tikki perched on Marinette's shoulder. "There's no use in worrying about it. All you can do is accept it and move on."

Marinette stood and nodded, taking a deep breath. "You know what," she said. "You're right. I'm going to move on from what happened."

With a newly strengthened resolve, Marinette marched into the living room where Alya and Nino were chatting with Adrien.

"Hey guys," Marinette gave them a small wave. "I'm going over to Luka's to work on the project."

"Sure," Alya smiled. "Don't have too much fun."

"Alya!" Nino chided, although it was obvious he agreed with her, a smile so broad it nearly split his face.

Adrien didn't say anything but simply looked away the second he and Marinette made eye contact, his face flushing as his eyes darted all around the room, looking at anything but her. Noticing his obvious discomfort, Alya gave Marinette a wink, which only confused Marinette even more.

It was apparent that Alya thought Adrien was jealous about her going to Luka's, but Marinette wasn't so sure. To her, he seemed...embarrassed? She could've sworn she saw a flicker of shame in his eyes, but it wasn't like she could ask.

Marinette shrugged her bag onto her shoulder, curious about Adrien but not wanting to pry too hard. "Well," she said with uncertainty, "see you guys."

"I start the paper, and you do the slideshow?" Luka suggested as he and Marinette lounged around his small coffee table once more.

"Sure," Marinette said, organizing her papers as Juleka and Rose walked in. "Hey, guys."

"Hey," Juleka and Rose greeted, both sitting on the couch behind Luka and Marinette. They turned on the TV, and an all-too-familiar face and voice appeared, filling Marinette with dread.

"Don't be bemused, it's just the news. I'm Nadjia Chamack, and new supervillain has just appeared and seems to be flooding the Louvre!"

Marinette's heart sank as she watched the screen, transfixed with horror. Now, not only would she have to make up an excuse to leave Luka, she would have to see Chat for the first time since their breakup officially as Ladybug. The memory of their kiss two nights ago sent a tingle through Marinette's lips, who subconsciously brushed them with her fingers as she desperately tried to think of an excuse to go.

Oblivious to Marinette's inner dilemma, Luka scooted closer to Marinette, blushing. "Hey," he whispered, "I wanted to ask—"

Marinette shot out of her seat, not even processing what Luka had said. "I forgot that Alya wanted me home by now!" Marinette said, her words coming out at a thousand miles an hour. Hurry hurry hurry, you have to hurry before all of Paris is flooded. "Sorry! She put something in the oven and she asked me to go back and take it out! I be right back!"

Without even picking up her backpack, Marinette was off, nothing but a trail of smoke left in her wake.

***

As Ladybug zipped over the streets of Paris, she had two things that fought for dominance in her mind. The first was the akuma, the immediate threat to the citizens of Paris. The second was Chat Noir. It would be the first time they officially saw each other as their superhero selves since the breakup, the kiss from two nights ago only worsening Ladybug's focus.

Before long, Ladybug spotted the supervillain. He looked to be no more than a boy of seven, wearing a skin-tight of blue and black and fins of the same colour. "The whole world will be my swimming pool!" He declared, pressing the ring on his finger, a tsunami-like wave gushing out.

The clang of a metal pole cut through the atmostphere and a familiar voice teased, "don't you think it's a little too cold to be swimming?"

The supervillain roared in outrage as he dove for Chat Noir. "I AM TSUNAMI!" He cried. "EVERYDAY IS FOR SWIMMING!"

Hawkmoth is making this a little too easy, Ladybug thought as she dove into the fight. Her memory flickered back to Heartbreaker a couple of days earlier. It had never been so easy to find an akuma. Ladybug dropped next to Chat Noir, pretending not to notice the way he flinched.

"Here's the plan," she whispered as they ran, dodging Tsunami's attacks.

Just like Heartbreaker, within minutes, the akuma was beaten, Tsunami returned into his civillian form, confused and crying for his mother.

"Alexandre!" The boy's mother rushed up and embraced her son fiercely. "I was so worried about you! Thank you Ladybug, thank you Chat Noir!"

"It's no problem," Ladybug smiled as Chat Noir ruffled the boy's hair.

"I think a trip to the swimming pool is long overdue," Chat Noir said with a wink.

The mother smiled sheepishly, thanking them once more before turning and walking away, her beloved son safely returned in her arms. And just like that, for the first time since their breakup, Ladybug and Chat Noir found themselves together and alone.

Searching for something to say, Ladybug raised her fist, "Pound it!"

Chat Noir smiled halfheartedly and returned the gesture. "Pound it."

The two superheroes stood there, their gazes flickering to each other before looking away, the tension so thick Ladybug could've cut through it with a knife. They both had so much to say yet had no idea how to say it, neither of them ready to talk.

"Well," Ladybug said uneasily, already spinning her yo-yo, "I have somewhere to be. See ya, Chat." By the time Chat said his goodbye, Ladybug was already far out of sight.

"I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly!" Marinette apologized over and over again as she stood on the doorstep to Luka's house, her bags in her hand.

"It's alright," Luka laughed. "Did you manage to save the food?"

Marinette stared at him quizzically before remembering her excuse. Her eyes widened as she gasped, "Oh yeah! And in just the nick of time too!" She laughed nervously.

Thankfully, Luka didn't look too put off and his laughter was quickly replaced by an embarressed smile. "Listen, Marinette," he said, a blush creeping up his neck and blossoming on his cheeks. "I was wondering if you would go on a date with me sometime."

"Oh!" Marinette exclaimed, taken aback by the sudden question, her heart torn. "Of—of course!" She stammered, trying on a smile that seemed a little too forced. "When?"

"Next week?" Luka suggested, still wearing that shy smile but looking a lot more confident now that Marinette actually said yes. Marinette nodded, her eyes widened even more as he bent down and pressed another kiss onto her cheeks, her face flamed.

Chuckling at her embarrassment, Luka waved goodbye as he started to close the door. "I look forward to our date, Marinette," he said.

Marinette smiled, a real one this time. "Me too."
