It was getting dark and Marinette was still at her sewing machine, working tirelessly as her mind refused to drift from Chat, or Luka, or Adrien. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't stop thinking about them, couldn't stop thinking about how much of a mess her love life had turned into.

Marinette jumped as a knock echoed through her room. It came from her window, and her heart sank. There was only one person who would enter her room from there, and sure enough, when she turned, Chat was perched on the balcony, grinning at her sheepishly.

Cursing her love life and the universe, Marinette got up from her chair and opened the window, allowing Chat to leap in. He was so close, her body practically hummed with the need to throw her arms around him and to melt into his embrace.

Instead, they stood there awkwardly as Chat looked around her room as if he hadn't already seen it. Marinette opened her mouth to ask what was up, but instead, she found his lips on hers as he kissed her fiercely.

Her eyes widened before she quickly melted into his arms, returning the gesture with the same level of passion and heat. They stumbled over each other before landing on her bed, both of them panting but more wanting than ever.

As Chat pressed kisses along her jaw and down her neck, Marinette couldn't help but think about how wrong this was. After all, she was trying to get over Chat. But the feeling of his body pressed against hers, of his kisses trailing down her neck, it wasn't helping.

Of course, she couldn't blame him. After all, he didn't know she was Ladybug.

I have to tell him to stop, she thought feverishly as they continued to kiss, his hands exploring her body in a way that made her shiver. But she couldn't bring herself to. It felt too good and after a week of thinking about him and pining, all Marinette wanted to do was to be in his arms.

"Princess," Chat breathed, his voice throaty and low, a purr rumbling in his chest.

Marinette found her lips captured in his again as she tugged at the bell ringing gently at the base of her throat. With a growl, Chat grabbed her wrists and pinned her arms above her neck, placing kisses down her neck, lower, and lower, and lower.

Shivering with pleasure, a moan escaped Marinette's lips and Chat looked up, smirking. She rolled her eyes. "What are you looking at?" She demanded as her body ached for more attention.

"Just at how beautiful you are," Chat purred and Marinette flushed.

It could've been minutes or even hours, it didn't matter. Marinette found herself lost in the pleasure, her world reduced to nothing but Chat's hands and lips as well as their breathy gasps. Chat's finger trailed along her stomach before gripping onto the hem of her shirt, lifting it slowly.

Marinette's mind snapped out of its haze and her hands clamped down on Chat's. "No," she gasped, even though her body ached and demanded it. "We can't."

Chat let go immediately, stepping back, although Marinette knew it couldn't have been easy, judging by the bob of his Adam's apple as he swallowed. "I—I'm sorry," he stammered, looking truly flushed.

"Don't be," Marinette said, heat blooming across her cheeks. "I—I liked it too."

"Then why?" Chat took another step back as if being any closer would make him lose his control.

"It's just wrong," Marinette sighed. Seeing the flicker of pain in Chat's eyes, she hastily added, "I mean, didn't you just go through a breakup with Ladybug?"

"I still love her," Chat confessed. "But I can't be. We have to keep our identities safe and you...you make me feel safe and happy and I...I think I love you too."

Marinette bit her lip, not quite sure what to do with the information. She approached Chat, noticing how his entire body tensed, and she pressed a kiss onto his cheek. "I'm sorry Chaton," she murmured. "But we can't. I'm sure Ladybug would want you to move on, but I don't—I don't think a relationship would work for us, a relationship where you could know everything about me, but I can't know anything about you."

Chat's eyes flickered to the ground and Marinette's heart wrenched seeing the heartbreak shining in them. "Is there," he licked his lips. "Is there someone else? Is that why you won't..." he trailed off.

"No—I mean, yes—I mean, I don't know," Marinette sighed. "I was just on a date today with a guy from my socials class. He's really nice and sweet and I think maybe I could love him."

That was the wrong thing to say, obviously, but it was made even more apparent was Chat's ears flattened against his head. Marinette's hand itched to pet them until they perked up again but she restrained herself. That was Ladybug's habit, not Marinette's.

Still, despite the grief on his face, Chat being his sweet self merely nodded stiffly. "I understand," he whispered. "I'm glad for you. Truly."

Marinette nodded, offering him a small smile. "Thank you, Chaton. It means a lot to me."

"Well," Chat Noir shifted on his feet uneasily. "I...I guess I'll go then." He opened the window and surprised Marinette with a sweet kiss on the cheek. "See you."

Marinette smiled softly, "See you."

He leapt through the window and was gone in the blink of an eye. Tikki flew up from behind the dresser where she was hiding and Marinette groaned seeing her. "Tell me you didn't just witness all that!"

Tikki grimaced and Marinette got all the answers she needed.

Determined to avoid a very awkward conversation, Marinette turned back towards the window. "It seems like breakups are happening left and right these days," she murmured. "Wonder what's going on to cause all of them. Mine, Chaton's, and Adrien's." She stood up, cursing herself for forgetting. Of course! Adrien had a breakup too and she hadn't checked up on him since he first told her.

"I'll be right back Tikki," Marinette said, rushing out the door. "I'm just going to check on Adrien real quick, make sure he's doing okay. I'm such a horrible friend for not doing it sooner."

She jogged to Adrien's room, the door already slightly ajar. Marinette's hand hovered on the doorknob, readying herself to apologize for not checking in sooner when her head snapped up to the sound of someone leaping through the window.

The unmistakable shadow of Chat Noir landed on Adrien's bedroom floor with a soft thud

What's he doing in Adrien's room? Marinette thought, her brows pinching.

"Plagg, claws in." A flash of emerald light filled the room and when it died down, Marinette's heart nearly stopped beating altogether. Standing in Chat's place was Adrien, with his hair as blond as the summer-sun, his eyes green as forest-grass.

Gasping quietly, Marinette nearly stumbled over herself as she bolted back to her room, her mind going a mile a minute. She slammed her door behind her, probably waking up Alya, but that was the last thing on her mind right then and there. Ignoring Tikki's questions of what was wrong, Marinette catapulted into her bed, her hands grasping her head tightly as she tried to wrap her mind around what she had seen.

But there was no doubt, no question about it. Adrien was Chat, and her Kitty was Adrien.
