[2] Natasha. My Sister
Chapter 2 Natasha, My Sister
A jet pulled up to the somewhat barren land and I clambered inside, nearly bumping into a man who was in it, "So sorry." I excused myself and then turned to an agent, "So, where exactly am I going?" I asked.
"India. You might want to settle down in the next room and get ready."
"What exactly am I supposed to be doing?" I asked gesturing to the dress he was holding out to me.
The man smirked, "Agent Romanoff told us herself, that she wanted you to wear that."
"My sister?" I asked but left before he could reply. i ran off into the bathroom and changed into the blue shimmery dress with black sequins that came up to my knees and had a high neckline. I put on my raven necklace and snowflake earrings that were actually weapons which no one but my sister and I knew. I put leggings on underneath the dress and slipped on my ankle boots and put on my leather jacket over the whole ensemble.
"So." I said as I sat down and crossed my legs, "When will we get there? And where is my sister?" I asked worriedly.
"Don't worry. She's completely safe and so are you. Now. We are approaching our destination." he said, his face absent of emotion.
I slipped my gun into a belt at my waist and moved to the front of the plane, "What am I to do?"
"Convince Mr. Banner to come with us. It's important." he mentioned.
"The hell it is." I muttered before stepping of the plane.
I slipped through the shadows and came into a rather empty house, "Tasha. Where are you?" I heard shuffling and my sister's face appeared. Anya. Oh thank god. I haven't seen you in years." she hugged me. Something that was an often occurrence for us two.
Tash. Why are we doing this?" I whispered.
"For the good of the world Anya. Otherwise I have no clue." she said and looked around. "He should come soon."
At her word, a little girl scrambled in and Natasha went back into the shadows, pulling me back with her. I looked questionably at her.
"Better to have the element of surprise." she said and shushed me.
A man with glasses and brown hair came in and Natasha came out with her arms crossed over her chest.
"You know, for a man who's supposed to be avoiding stress, you picked a hell of a place to settle." Natasha said as she walked up a little ways.
"Avoiding stress isn't the secret." Banner replied.
"Then what is it?" Natasha asked and then paused, "Yoga?"
He didn't answer, "You brought me to the edge of the city, smart. I uh..assume the whole place is surrounded?"
Natasha lies and shakes her head, "Nope. Just you and me."
He sort of laughs though I wasn't sure, "And your actress buddy, is she a spy too? Do they start that young?"
"I did." Natasha says.
"Who are you?" he asks confused.
"Natasha Romanoff."
"Are you here to kill me, Miss Romanoff? Because that's not gonna work out for everyone."
"No. No. Of course not. I'm here on behalf of SHIELD."
"SHIELD. How did they find me?" He asks worriedly.
"We never lost you, doctor. We've kept our distance, even helped keep some other interested parties off your scent."
"Why?" He asked.
"Nick Fury seems to trust you. But now I need you to come in."
"What if I said no?"
"I'll persuade you."
I rolled my eyes at this. Natasha always had the worst ways of persuading people to do things.
"And what if the...other guy says no."
"You've been more than a year without an incident. I don't think you wanna break that streak."
"I don't always get what I want." he said looking pointedly at her.
"Doctor, we're facing a potential global catastrophe." Natasha pleaded.
"Well those I actively try to avoid." He responded.
"This is the Tesseract. It has the potential energy to wipe out the planet." Natasha gets out her phone and pulls up a picture of it to show him.
He looks at it, "What does Fury want me to do? Swallow it?"
"Well, he wants you to find it. It's been taken. It emits a gamma signature that's too weak for us to trace. There's no one that knows gamma radiation like you do. If there was, that's where I'd be at the moment." Natasha said.
"So Fury isn't after the monster?" Banner asks.
"Not that he's told me."
"And he tells you everything?"
"Talk to Fury, he needs you on this."
"He needs me in a cage?"
"No one's gonna put you in a.." Natasha doesn't get to finish.
"STOP LYING TO ME!" Banner yells in a thunderous tone which makes me flinch and Natasha grabs her gun to point it at him. Everything feels different. Banner smiles and straightens, "I'm sorry, that was mean. I just wanted to see what you'd do. Why don't we do this the easy way, where you don't use that, and the other guy doesn't make a mess? Okay? Natasha.."
Natasha doesn't lower her gun at first but then does as she's told and speaks quietly into her earpiece, "Stand down. We're all good here."
"We hope." I mutter more to myself.
Banner smiles a charming smile at Natasha, "Just you and me? Huh."
I see Natasha fidget as she's embarrassed and upset.
I come slowly forward and stop next to my sister.
Bruce gives a dry unamused laugh, "Hm. And you even brought your look-alike with you. Why didn't you send her earlier to do your dirty work?"
I growled and cocked my gun, "Watch what you say. You don't know what I'm capable of."
"Another freak show. Looks like we'll get along famously." Bruce says with sarcasm laced in his words.
I lift my gun and point it at him but Natasha puts her hand on my arm and shakes her head.
I nodded and took a few quick breaths and then turned to Natasha. "I need to get out of here. I'll meet you back at the shuttle. Can you handle this?"
"I'll be fine." Natasha nodded.
"Well, if you need me to freeze anyone, just holler." I grinned at her and walked back to the plane, eager to get back 'home'.
