I was woken by the startling ringing of my phone. Y/n and I both shot up awake by the sudden burst of noise. I saw y/n had her hands up on a defensive karate position. I saw the call was from Mr. Stark. It might be about y/n! I quickly grabbed my phone and answered.

"Hel-" I had to clear my throat from my morning voice, "hello?"

"Hey kid." Mr. stark answered, "I'm sorry to call you this early but you and y/n need to come here. I found another ingredient in the formula. But-"

"Really!" I gasped, "Ok. Ok. We'll be there soon." I hung up. I turned to a very tired looking y/n, "y/n! Mr. stark found another ingredient! We need to get to the tower!" She yawned before flicking her wrist upwards and we suddenly fell through a portal. We landed in Mr. Stark's lab. It took me awhile to comprehend what had just happened but I eventually came back to sense. I rushed over to where Mr. Stark was, "What is it? What did you find?" I asked. Y/n had joined my side and was waiting for Mr. Stark to answer.

"I have narrowed down most of the ingredients in this but there is a problem." He answered.

"W-What problem?" I stuttered.

"You see, I have most of the ingredients that are used to make this very precise mixture. I have been trying to find out a way that I could remake it into a stable, nondestructive formula that would work with y/n. But..."

"But? But what? What is the problem? If you have the ingredients, can't you just remake it into a non threatening solution?" I balled my fisted.

"..." there was something wrong and Mr. Stark wouldn't spit it out. I was starting to get annoyed at all this silence and not getting answers. I needed to save y/n. Right now. I don't have time to sit around. I need to save her.

"Oh..." y/n said quietly. Mr. stark looked over at her with an expression of realisation, "I-I understand." Y/n sighed sadly. She must have read his mind.

"What? Y/n what is wrong?" I was getting really agitated.

"We can't remake the formula into a non threatening version." Y/n sighed sadly and she took in a shaky breath, "We can't make one because every one of the ingredients that give the power are the poisonous ones. The other ingredients are to just specify their powers. It's physically impossible to not have a non-poisonous solution."

"What?" My voice shook slightly. I saw Mr. stark lower his head, "No. it's not that easy to just give up. Can't we just neutralise the poison or replace them?" I tried to think of some other answer.

"No." Mr. stark answered flatly, "you can't just neutralize the poison... because the poison is what the power comes from." At those words my heart completely dropped to my stomach.

"No. There is another way. There has to be." I shook my head.

"Peter." y/n spoke softly. I turned to her. My eyes stinging. I could see the same redness in her eyes. She merely shook her head sadly.

"No. No. You can't just be giving up like that!" my voice got caught in my throat, "No. No. No."

"Peter. We just don't have the time. It's too late." a thick tear fell from her eye. Her lip quivered. I look to Mr. Stark for help. For any reassurance.

He just looked down at his feet ashamed that he couldn't give me the answer that I wanted.

And that was it.

That moment I knew.

They had given up.

But I hadn't.

I shook my head, "So that's it. You both are just going to give up. You are both just going to give in. Does everything we've ever done mean nothing to you?" My voice shook from hurt and anger.

Neither of them answered me.

"Well then. Have it your way. Give up. Just let yourself die." y/n flinched at my words. I felt my heart tug that I realised I had gone too far. But I didn't care at that moment. I huffed and took one last look at Mr. Stark and y/n. I paused in looking at y/n's hurt and teary eyes.

I had just realised that my vision had become blurry from the tears threatening to spill. We stared into each other's eyes and I clenched my jaw to stop myself from bursting into a fit of cries.

I reached out to her with my hand and cupped her check and wiped away the stray tears. I begged for her to read my mind silently because if I spoke what I was thinking, I wouldn't be able to finish.

Y/n I will not give up. There is one thing that I know in all this craziness. And that is that I love you. I will not stand by and just give up. If I give up, I lose everything. I would rather lose trying than lose without trying and be killing myself from the inside out. Left wondering what could have happened if I hadn't have given up on you.

Y/n expression changed and she lunged forward to tackle me I do a tight hug. She cried into my shoulder. I wrapped my arms her and held her tightly.

"I-I just don't know what we can do Peter." She whimpered. I didn't really know either.

"We will find a way." I confirmed, "I know we will. You just have to trust me." I sniffed. I looked at Mr. Stark through tears eyes.

"I-I can try... to find a solution that we can use that is not poisonous." Mr. stark said carefully. I could see the doubt in his eyes.

"How long will that take?" I asked afraid of the answer. At first, Mr. Stark didn't say anything.

"As long as you'll give me."

I nodded and turned to y/n, "Could we run some tests of what y/n's blood has in it and look for other solutions or chemicals that have the same properties?" I asked Mr. Stark. I still hadn't pulled out of the hug I had y/n in. Mr. stark nodded, "thank you."

Mr. stark walked over to his desk with a sample of y/n's blood and began researching for anything that would fit.

"We are going to do this" I whispered to y/n. She hugged he tighter.

"You know it's funny..." she spoke, "Every time I look through your mind when you talk like this, it's like any doubt gets flushed out." She laughed a little. I chuckled slightly too.

"That's because I believe I will save you. So there is no room for doubt." I said quietly to her. I rested my head on hers. We stood there for a moment until Mr. Stark spoke up.

"I have gone through all of S.H.I.E.L.D's files on different substances and I have found a possible match for one of the ingredients so far. I'm going to need both of you to go to this building here and retrieve a green stone." He spoke.

"A green stone? What is it exactly?" I asked confused.

"It is called the time stone. I am trying to break down all of y/n's different powers and match them with different things. The time stone is a very powerful stub stance but we only need the smallest extraction of it."

"Ok. Let's go." Y/n created a portal next to us.

"Actually, I need Peter to stay here. I am searching for another match and if we split up to retrieve every thing we'll get them faster." Mr. Stark interrupted.

"Oh... uh, ok." I said a little sadly. I didn't want to leave y/n's side but... I guess I'll have to. Just for a little bit to save her.

"I'll be back soon." Y/n kissed my cheek, "If you need me to create a portal just tell me where and I can still do it from wherever I am." Y/n said as she stepped through the portal and I closed.

This was it.

We were going to save y/n.

Y/n stepped into the portal and was greeted by the load honking of the cities traffic. She looked to her left and saw a tall building with a strange symbol on it's top. Y/n knocked on the door politely. A moment later a man opened it.

"Who are you?" He asked her.

"My name is y/n l/n. I am here because I must urgently discuss a serious matter with the keeper of the stone." Y/n said formally. The man's eyes narrowed at her and she flicked through his mind to see if she was in the right place.

"Very well." He stepped to the side, "This way." Y/n stepped in after him. They walked through the ancient building and came out to a court yard where y/n saw many people... creating portals. Orange fired outlined portals, "Ancient one." The man called to a bald woman. She turned to greet him.

"Yes?" She locked eyes with y/n and the two stared at each other for a moment, "Uh, yes. I have been expecting you to show." She greeted y/n as if she were a long time friend, "Shall we?" She gestured to y/n to walk with her. Y/n nodded and step forward. The man went to follow but the Ancient one held up a hand, "I'm afraid that I will be accompanying miss l/n alone." The man nodded and walked away, "So." The woman started walking and y/n followed.

"How do you know my name? And how did you know I was coming? Can you read minds?" Y/n asked.

"Not as you can my dear." The woman smiled, "I am the keeper of the stone. The stone tells me many things. I know past present and future. I do know when things will happen and how but alas. There were two different outcomes this morning. One that you were going to come and one that you were not."

Y/n raised her eyebrows surprised, "So... you know my future?" She asked cautiously.

"Yes." The woman answered simply. Y/n hesitated before opening her mouth to ask, "No." The woman cut her off, "I cannot tell you if you survive. The scales of the space time continuum would tip and the balance would be disrupted." Y/n nodded in understanding.

"Can I-" She was cut off again.

"Have the time stone?"

"Borrow it." Y/n clarified, "You can see in the future that I return it though." Y/n reasoned. The ancient one opened her mouth to say something but closed it.

"Yes. Yes... you may borrow it to extract what is needed." The woman handed y/n the necklace.

"That easily?" Y/n asked surprised.

"Yes." The woman smiled at her in a change way. It seemed almost as if there was a tinge of some other emotion in her eyes which slightly confused y/n.

"Uh, thank you." Y/n took the necklace, "I promise that I will not let anything happen to this."

"I know... and I will see you again someday." She smiled.

"Pardon?" With that, y/n was suddenly sent through a portal back into the lab. She looked around confused for a moment until she realised that the ancient one had sent her here. What did she mean by that?... she probably just meant that she would see me when I return it. Y/n concluded as she walked to the desk Tony was waiting at.

"I've got it." Y/n placed it carefully on the table.

"Really? That quick?" Tony was surprised.

"Yeah... well Anyway, what else do I need to get?" Y/n asked.

"An item called the tesseract."
