Chapter Three

Chapter Three

"Don't give me that look." I shake my head at Derek as I approached the old house which we are currently living in, but it's only temporary. Hopefully.

School had finally ended and I don't have to be fake with anyone anymore. I could be me.

My eyes lingered on the grave that Derek was digging for Laura. My heart drops slightly. He was almost finished building her a grave.

Derek was standing on the top of the steps with his hands in his leather jacket that he seems to wear literally everywhere we go.

"What look?" Derek asked, cocking his head.

I stood at the bottom staircase. "Guess who I just ran into at school?"

"Who?"

"An Argent," I spoke, smirking and Derek's face dropped. "Before you could tell me to stay away from her, I'm doing the opposite. And before you could yell at me... Keep friends close, but your enemies closer."

I let it register to Derek. "That's a bad idea."

"No, it's a solid idea!" I continued to argue my case. "Look, if she just so happened to know about the Supernatural, and if I get her to be my best friend I could—"

"No," Derek had snapped. "You're just getting yourself killed by associating yourself with her. I won't allow it."

"But Derek—"

"Faya." He had glowed his bright blue eyes at me. I let out a huff. Despite Derek's protests, I'm still going to do anyways.

"But—"

"Shut up." He had cut me off, standing up straight and looking out deeper into the woods.

"That won't work on me." I chuckled and before I could say anything else, he walked down the stairs, each step he took, the steps creaked.

He placed his hands gently on my shoulders. "Shut up and stay behind me." He walked ahead and I followed, worried.

I don't know what Derek had heard. It could be anything. I was hoping it wasn't Hunters.

We walked through our property of trees as quietly as we could.

I didn't need to use supernatural hearing to hear this conversation between two people who were a few feet away from us. Derek carefully hides behind the tree, trying to listen in on what they're saying and I just stand behind him with my hands in my pocket.

"You're the one who heard a wolf!"

"It's not funny," there were two boys and I rolled my eyes at the sight of them as they walked through our land. It was the buzz cut boy and the best friend. "There could be something seriously wrong with me."

"I know! You're a werewolf!" Both Derek and I looked at each other. There's a beta in town? "Okay, obviously, I'm kidding. But if you see me in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find it's cause Friday night's a full moon."

"I could've sworn this was it," they stand in an opened area. "I saw the body, the deer came running... I dropped my inhaler."

Derek brought out the inhaler from his pocket that he just so happened to have. I gave him a weird look and he gave me an 'I'll explain it later' kind of look.

"Maybe the killer moved the body," the buzz cut had suggested.

I looked at Derek. Derek had moved Laura's body all by himself. My hand went to touch the triskelion. An image of Derek moving both Laura's side of the body to the back of our house appeared.

I held back a gasp and my heart sunk even further. My poor sister...

"If he did, I hope he didn't take my inhaler..." The boy groaned and that's when Derek had pulled me out from the shadows of the trees. One of the boys were crouched, looking through the leaves and the other one stands. "Those things cost like 80 bucks..."

The buzz cut's boys eyes widen as soon as he noticed Derek and I standing a few feet away from them.

"What are you doing here?" Derek had demanded in his scary tone. I almost rolled my eyes. "This is private property,"

"Uh... Sorry," the buzz cut apologised and I feel both of the boys' gaze on me. "We didn't know."

"Yeah... We were just looking for something..." The other boy half explained.

Derek then throws the boy the inhaler and at ease, the boy with the brown hair and slightly crooked jawline catches it with ease.

I turned around and began to walk off with Derek on hot on my tail. "Who is he?" Derek had asked me.

"What? What makes you think I know them?" I fired back as we go back towards our house.

"I know you recognise them," Derek quickly said. "Quick, what's his name?"

"I don't know!" I waved my hands in the air. "I've been trying to figure that out all day. What's got you so snappy?"

"He's a beta." Derek had informed me. "I could smell it all over him. Forget trying to get close with the Argent, get close with him. We can use him, Faya."

I nod my head. However, I'm still going with my plan, to get close to Allison and apparently I'm getting close to the beta as well.

"So, does that mean I can go to the party this Friday?"

We entered the house. On the ground level, everything is burned to smithereens and upstairs is actually decent looking. But, that's only for our bedrooms.

"Party? What party?"

--

It was easy to get Derek to say yes to go to the party. I figured that since it was going to be one of the biggest parties of the year and that everyone's going, I could easily keep an eye on Scott.

Yes, Scott. Scott McCall. Within a few days, I've attended school, I've managed to get to the boys' name (Scott and Stiles), thanks to Allison and speaking of Allison— she's starting to trust me, I guess.

And then there's Lydia. I'm at Lydia's big fancy house where the party is held out. I had been here before the party started and wore simple clothes. I helped her pick an outfit and she likes my taste in fashion.

Now, unlike a few moments ago, the party was alive. There was drunk, dancing teenagers. I remained sober, unlike these losers. Well, I actually can't get drunk even if I wanted to try to. Something about the healing process.

I danced with random guys all while trying to keep an eye on Scott and Allison. This is perfect because Allison did decide to come and Scott asked her to be her date.

As I danced in the crowd I looked up at the full moon beaming above us. I don't feel anything. But, as I glanced over at Scott, I noticed he does begin to feel something which just the way he acted.

He gripped onto his hair after a while of dancing with Allison and he hisses in pain. He pushes passed everyone and Allison calls him, trying to get his attention as they run out from the party.

I had caught up with them easily. I watched as Scott speed away in his car and Allison left on the pathway looking stupid.

"Allison," I speak and on top of my voice was Derek's. I turned slightly to see him standing next to me. I knew he was going to come to watch over Scott at this party.

Allison had turned around at the sound of her name, looking confused. Her eyes went to mine. "Allison, this is my brother, Derek," I speak. "Let us take you home."

She nods her head, gulping.

We dropped Allison off and headed straight to the woods. "Derek, you know its dangerous if we're out in the woods." I started to begin my argument on why we shouldn't be here to look for Scott. "Maybe he just went home, you know."

"Unlikely," Derek said as we walked around the woods at night.

"Must I remind you that the hunters are out—"

"And must I remind you to shut up?" Derek hisses at me, clearly annoyed with my talking. "How am I suppose to protect you if all I can hear is you talking?"

I huffed and followed Derek around the woods. I then grabbed Derek, as I spotted something hanging in the tree.

Allison's jacket.

Derek stopped to look at what I was looking at.

Derek then pulled me aside, in the shadows and suddenly Scott McCall appears. He's half-naked, with only seats on. He's fully transformed, glowing yellow eyes, sharp fangs, and facial hair.

He's in a crouched position, breathing heavily as he looked around. As if he's looking for something. He's looking for us. "Where is she?" Scott growled out.

"She's safe," I answered and he looked around again.

"From you." Derek continued on. Derek had come up behind him and lifts up Scott, before tossing both of them to the ground. I cringed slightly as I followed them rolling on the grass.

Derek then pins Scott up against the tree and I stand off, letting Derek deal with him. "What did you do with her?" Scott snapped.

Derek then looked up, listening in on something. "Shh, quiet." His hands were pressed firmly against Scott's chess. "Too late." He had kept his voice low and he looked down at Scott. "They're already here. Run."

Derek had let go of Scott and grabbed me roughly, and before I know it, I was running. Derek had his grip on me the entire time, running directly behind me.

Suddenly, a loud yell comes from behind us. I turned my head sharply and saw that Scott had an arrow inside him, he was pinned to the tree.

Derek and I slowed to a stop.

"Take him." The main hunter speaks who held a crossbow and was standing in front of the other hunters. There were two hunters behind him.

While we formed our plan silently, I turned and ran towards Scott. I gripped on the arrow and snapped it, while Derek took out the other hunters behind the leader of the hunters.

I grabbed Scott's arm tightly. Derek didn't bother taking out the leader of the hunters and ran straight for Scott and I.

Scott, Derek, and I sprinted away from the hunters before they could put themselves together again.

We run through the dark forest and the occasional fog. Scott was a bit ahead of us, holding his arm and Derek was right behind me.

Scott lets out a gasp and collapsed to the ground, causing Derek and I to slow down our pace and eventually stopped.

Scott had used the tree to promote himself up breathing heavily. He turned around to face us and leant against the tree.

Derek was on guard, looking around constantly. "Who were they?" Scott whimpers out.

"Hunters," I replied to Scott. "The kind that has been hunting us for centuries."

"Us?" Scott yelled out. "You mean you! You did this to me!" Scott blamed Derek as he stands up.

"Is it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better... Hear more clearly, move faster than any human could ever hope for?" Derek questions and as he does this, he steps closer to Scott, cornering him with the tree. "You've been given something that most people would kill for." No reply from Scott. "The bite is a gift." Scott stares directly into my brother's eyes. "I don't want it." Derek nods. "You will. And you're going to need me if you want to learn how to control it." Derek then leans forward and placed a hand on Scott's shoulder, he flinches. "So, you and me Scott... We're brothers now."

He then pulled away and gripped onto me, pulling me away from Scott and the Hunters. "Really? Does that mean I'm his sister then?" I scrunched up my face at the idea of a new brother. "I think I'll pass. You're already a pain in the ass, I don't need another pain in my ass."

I pushed away from Derek's grip. He bumps shoulders with me purposely and I see him smile. I rolled my eyes. "Think of him as a little brother. You've always wanted a little brother."

"No." I shake my head and point in his direction. "You've always wanted a little brother. Instead, you ended up with three sisters."

"Yeah," he wraps an arm around me. "And I wouldn't change it for the world."
