It Wasn't Real, Was It?
In the morning, Jungkook drags himself out of bed, feeling like he has been in a fight. He stumbles to the bathroom and starts the shower to warm the water. He looks in the mirror and gasps.
"What the fuck!?"
He turns his head from side to side, tenderly touching the bruises on his neck with his fingertips. He leans close to the mirror for a better look at the bruises, then steps back, staring in shock.
The bruises are in the shape of hands. There are also two hand-shaped bruises on his shoulders.
"Just where that thing had its hands pushing me into the mattress! Oh hell, no, no, it was just a dream! It wasn't real, was it?"
In a sudden panic, he forgets about the shower and runs back into his bedroom, looking around. He checks under the bed, in the closet, and behind the curtains at the windows. There is no sign of anyone other than himself ever being in the room.
Returning to the shower, he is about to cut the water off but stops. "You're a grown-ass man, and you're afraid to take a shower!" Frustrated with himself, he pushes his fear down and takes a shower.
He heard his cell phone go off when he was done with his shower and towel-dying his hair. He picked it up, and it was a group text from Jin letting everyone know he decided to make breakfast at his place to celebrate their first morning in their new building.
Jungkook knew it was also because Tae and Jimin were already there, and Jin still wanted to keep an eye on Jimin.
Fully dressed, Jungkook looks around his room. He was still excited about placing all his personal things, but the nightmare now dampens it. He frowns slightly as he closes the apartment door and takes the elevator to Jin's.
Meanwhile, Yoongi is startled awake by the message on his phone—a group text. He curses as he rolls over, slings off the covers, and grabs his phone.
He sees breakfast is at Jin's this morning; he sets his phone down and starts his daily routine. Once he is done and dressed, he leaves his apartment for Jin's. He stops halfway to the elevator, wondering if he should go to his studio at all today.
"Maybe I will just help everyone get more of their things moved in and talk to security."
He considers going down and talking to security first, but his stomach growls loudly in protest. Okay, eat first.
He meets Jungkook on the elevator on his way to Jin's. He steps into the elevator and pats Jungkook on the shoulder, "Morning, maknae."
Jungkook flinches in pain, cringing from Yoongi's hand.
"What's wrong? I didn't touch you that hard, Mr. Muscle Bunny. Did you over-exercise last night?" Yoongi playfully teases him.
"No, but I had a horrible nightmare. It was one where you think you're awake but not till you are. My bed was pretty messed up. I may have hurt my shoulder trying to fight whatever it was that was trying to kill me."
Yoongi notices the discoloration around Jungkook's neck, so he takes out his phone and uses the flashlight to see better.
"What the hell, Bun!? What happened?" He pulled Jungkook's collar away from his throat for a better look. "My God, it looks like hand prints! Like someone choked you!"
Before Jungkook could answer, the elevator doors opened on Jin's floor.
"Can I talk to you later about it?" He asks as they stepped out. It took him a while before he could settle his heart down. He doesn't want to hyperventilate now talking about it.
"Sure, but you might want to cover your throat." He hands Jungkook the light scarf he had around his neck, as he hated catching a chill or running into cold spots. He decided to wear one from now on. "You can wear this now or suffer the interrogation of the others at breakfast."
Jungkook wraps the scarf around his neck, thankful to his hyung (older brother). "Thank you."
"But you will come with me to my studio after breakfast before we start unpacking and moving things around." Jungkook nodded as they enter Jin's apartment.
Jimin and Tae met them at the door. Jimin immediately notices Yoongi's scarf around Jungkook's neck but doesn't say anything.
"How are you, Jimin? Does your back still hurt?" Jungkook asks with concern, but also trying to redirect Jimin from staring at his throat.
"The medicine Jin hyung has been putting on it helps a lot. My back is better today. I don't have to have all those adhesive bandages this morning."
"Turn around, Jimin. Let me take a look." Yoongi turns Jimin as he pulls up his shirt so Yoongi can see the scratches.
"Wow, those still look pretty mean."
"Yeah." Agrees Jungkook, grimacing as he looks at the scratches.
Jin steps into the living room, "Hey guys, breakfast is ready. Come eat."
They gladly join the others for breakfast. As Yoongi enters the dining room behind the maknae line, he gets a chill and mumbles, "Dammit, I should have put a sweater on. This building is drafty as fuck!"
"Sorry, Yoongi. I didn't mean to get so close." You skirt around him and stay on the other side of the room. You want to hear how they are doing.
You know who hurt Jimin and tried to hurt Jungkook. You hope they talk about it so you can find out if they are really doing alright.
During breakfast, you are disappointed, as Jungkook never mentioned what happened to him last night, and Jimin seemed to be doing better. You don't see all those bandages on him this morning. All they talked about was getting their stuff that was dropped off last night and talking about maintenance issues.
"The lights in my room kept flickering last night," complains J Hope. "Did it happen to anyone else?"
They all deny any such experiences in their apartments.
Yoongi says, "I guess that is something else to add to the list for maintenance this morning. I will be talking with them and security after breakfast. Do you have anything else you want checked out?"
Namjoon swallowed a mouthful of food, "Um, Yeah, I know it sounds stupid, but the water kept coming on in the bathroom last night, and by the time I went to cut it off, it aready turned off by itself. I think there's a water pressure issue."
He looks at Yoongi, "Well, since you have taken it upon yourself to speak with maintenance, you might as well get them to check the pipes in my bathroom. I didn't get much sleep because I had to keep checking on the water. The third time I did, when I went in, as I reached to turn it off, it cut off by itself."
They look around at each other—some with surprise, some with fear.
"I will let maintenance know." Yoongi is determined to find out what is going on. Things are just too strange around here.
You are glad to hear that at least Yoongi was taking action.
Suddenly, you felt a familiar wave of cold darkness—HE was coming. As you went to leave, HE came through the wall, speeding toward you right over the table. You quickly escaped through the wall, with him right behind you. You had to lead him away from them.
The guys jumped away from the table and Jimin fell over with his chair as things scattered across the table and glasses tipped over, spilling their contents.
"Damn, where did that cold breeze come from!?" shouts J Hope as he and the others rub their arms and hands for warmth.
"That was no breeze. That was a fucking wind blast!" Taehyung says as he helps Jimin up from the floor.
