The Return

The morning of the third day rolled by, and Toby awoke to find Jonathan standing up, eyes staring blankly into the air and his shoulders back. At the sound of Toby getting up, Jonathan looked toward him, and Toby was sure that Jonathan's eyes were pure white for a moment.

"They're coming now, I can sense it," Jonathan told him grimly. He pointed to the tunnel that he had warned Westley against just two days ago, and an almost ethereal tone overcame his voice. "Death marches on a dark wind. It calls for the life of one who has sinned. A noble warrior shall come to fall, while the life of another depends on the squall."

"Jonathan? You okay there?" Toby asked, a sickening feeling growing in his gut. Jonathan whirled around, and Toby's previous thought was confirmed, as he stared straight into the other man's glowing, white eyes.

The white faded, returning Jonathan's eyes to normal. He blinked at Toby, confused, then motioned to the same tunnel as before. "Why wouldn't I be? But we should start preparing our defenses. The Osiris will come for Jared. It's only a matter of time."

Toby's intuition told him that the other man didn't remember the sudden poem he had shared, and he was starting to think that it had been a prophecy. "Right . . . I'll wake everyone up. Get them ready. You just take care of yourself, maybe take a break," he suggested. Jonathan frowned, but did as directed, and went to sit down against the wall next to the still-sleeping Westley.

Toby went around the cavern, waking the rest of the members up and directing them on where to stand. Just as he nudged Skylar awake, the sound of echoing footsteps became audible from the tunnel. He looked toward it, and summoned a whip of water in his hand. It was time.

A reward awaits whoever completely deciphers the prophecy. The battle begins. Choose your moves wisely, for you will be punished for them.
