The Arrival

The twenty participants in the project looked at each other uncomfortably. Currently, they were all sitting on a small bus, making its way from the small airport to the compound.

Many of the participants weren't used to the expanse of nature in Canada. It seemed that the majority of them were from America, at least the ones who had spoken.

Many of them let out gasps as the complex came into view. It was guarded by a fence, but they could still see the white buildings built around a lake. Small paths wound their way through the pines. It was large, to say the least.

The bus stopped near a large, covered, outdoor space. A short man in a lab coat was standing on a platform in the front of the area.

The participants made their way off of the bus. Various workers took their luggage, and checked off their names to make sure all of them had arrived. Then they were ushered to sit in chairs, placed in front of the man in the lab coat.

The man cleared his throat, and spoke with an Egyptian accent. "My name is Gamal Fakhry. I am the Assistant Director of the Osiris Project. The Director is a very busy man, so I will be handling the day-to-day business here"

One of the workers handed him a small box, which he set to the side. He then continued. "To begin with, we'll get you moved into your rooms, which you will each share with one other person. You may explore the complex until eighteen hundred hours, at which point you will all be expected to go to dinner. You will be receiving key cards to access various parts of the complex, as well as booklets on the expectations we have for you"

A dark-haired young man, with hawkish features and dark eyes, raised his hand. Fakhry sighed, and motioned for him to speak.

The young man stood up, and it became clear that he was relatively tall, and elegantly dressed. "Apologies, but I believe what we're all wondering is if who our roommates will be," he said, his British accent surprising some of the American participants.

Fakhry nodded, and flipped to a page on his clipboard. "Yes, yes, thank you Jaxon. You may sit back down now" Jaxon did, recrossing his arms. "I will be giving everyone a rooming list with your badges. Now, a single file line, please".

The participants did as asked. One by one, Fakhry handed each of them a badge with their information on it, as well as a rooming list and a booklet. When he was done, he said goodbye, then left with some of the researchers in lab coats.

A sandy-haired man in a white polo shirt, with the O logo for the project, took Fakhry's place. Unlike the previous man, he seemed cheerful, more like a camp counselor than a scientist.

"Well, everyone, if you'll follow me, I'll lead you to your rooms and give you a tour of the compound! My name is Chaz, and I'll be your Program Manager for the duration of the project," he told them. Chaz led them through the pine trees, and into one of the large, white buildings.

Like the exterior, the halls of the building were pure white. The inside was a large, circular lounge, with white couches and tables. The only color in the room was green from the potted ferns, and blue from the fountain in the middle of the room. There was also a skylight, allowing natural light into the lounge.

Other than the entrance, there were ten doors in the walls of the lounge. They were numbered one through ten, with keycard locks on them. They were clearly the dorms.

Chaz motioned to the doors cheerfully. "Your bags are already in your rooms. Unpack, meet your roommate, and come outside when you're done. If you have anything you'd like changed, just tell me, and it will be done!"

Welcome to the first part of the Osiris Project! There will be separate chains, one for each room, and one for the lounge. Unpack and roleplay with your roommates, then head to the lounge chain. Once everyone has moved to the lounge chain, I will begin writing the next chapter. Your roommates and rooms are as follows:

Two: Aria Roman and Veronica Summers
Three: Jaxon Holmes and Jared Carter
Four: Camber Rose and Kat Lin
