"That did not happen" I laughed at the tale had just been spun for me.

"I swear still to this day I don't know how I ended up on that boat" he replied laughing along with me.

Our chuckling was interrupted by my phone vibrating.

"Sorry" I apologized checking my messages sighing and rolling my eyes as I read the text.

"Your ex?"

"How could you tell" I smiled putting away my phone.

"You always get that look when you heard from him or he's brought up in conversation" he shrugged.

"Look?"

"Yeah like it takes all your strength not to call him and cuss him out" he grinned as he finished his food.

"You never talk about him" he continued.

"Why would I?" I scoffed, making my companion raise his eyebrow at me.

"My ex, he ... well our history is complicated" I sighed.

"How so?"

"Our relationship was dramatic, to say the least, we were together for a long time but in the end, it wasn't working so I walked away" I explained.

"I get drama, my ex was all about the drama. When I first start dating again, she turned up and sat with us then explained to my date all the things wrong with me" he chuckled, he laughed a lot I liked that.

"Yeah well, mine would properly rip your head off if he saw us together".

"Wow, you are dramatic" he laughed only I didn't join in.

"He wasn't violent ... with you I mean?" he questioned getting serious.

"It wasn't like that we both were extremely toxic together. As I said it's complicated and although I would love nothing more than to never see Klaus face ever again, we have a daughter together so for her sake I'm, we're trying to be civil".

"Sorry I didn't mean to assume anything I know he's not your favorite topic" he awkwardly apologized.

"It's fine detective Kinney" I grinned flirtatiously getting off the subject of Klaus.

"That smile is going to get me in a lot of trouble Thyra Petrova, I know it" he laughed biting his lip.

A few hours later I was walking through the front door of my new home, I couldn't believe it had been seven months since I had moved from the quarter and moved into my new house.

It was a lovely spacious family home, decorated with warm colors and soft furnishings, the complete opposite to the homes I had lived in before.

Not only was it the perfect place for Eden to grow up, but it was a symbol of my freedom from the life I had been shackled to.

I took off my stiletto heels sighing in relief as my feet hit the sleek wooden floors, I padded into the living room smiling at the sight that greeted me.

"Mama, mama, mama" Eden squealed reaching out to me.

"There's my princess" I smiled taking her from her holder's arms and into mine.

She curled into me as I kissed her head and rubbed her back.

"You should be asleep little wildflower" I whispered sitting down in my armchair with Eden on my lap.

"Freya said Klaus let her sleep too long during her afternoon nap, when she dropped her off earlier" she informed me.

"Yeah, he texted me during my date to tell me" I sighed.

I didn't see why he had to text me when obviously Freya could have told me instead.

"How is NOLA's finest?" she smirked running her hand through her long ringlets.

"His name is Will, Kat," I told my niece, looking at her unimpressed.

"I still can't believe your dating a cop" my niece scoffed.

"He's a detective actually, and he's sweet, uncomplicated, exactly what I need right now".

"And I'm sure that him being easy on the eye, doesn't help what so ever" she teased.

"Where's Nadia, I thought she'd be here?" I wondered changing the subject.

"Off partying with her flavor of the month" Kat replied rolling her eyes.

"Well not that I wouldn't love to stay and squeeze all the juicy details out of you but I have plans with ..." she trailed off awkwardly clearing her throat.

"You can say his name Katerina it's fine" I sighed exasperatedly.

"You're having a date night with Elijah ... see it's fine. I told you last month when I went to find you that I was done with grudges and wasting energy on hating Mikaelsons, I just want to move on with my life" I explained yet again.

This was a recurring conversation, it reminded me of the original one I had had with Kat, just last month when I found her.

"Another free Tequila" my nice spoke compelling the bartender.

There she was, finally I had been looking all over this small town for hours, should have known she'd be where the alcohol was.

Klaus currently had Eden for the weekend, therefore, I decided to find Kat and bring her home.

I traveled all the way to Texas to some small town I had already forgotten the name of, to find her.

"I'll have a whiskey neat" I spoke to the bartender as I crept up behind my niece whom I had not seen in six months.

"Thyra" she gulped looking around for an escape route.

"Relax I only came to lift the compulsion" I spoke sitting down on the barstool beside her.

"Come again?"

"You heard me".

I then grabbed her arm and looked into her eyes.

"You are free to come back to New Orleans, free to see Elijah, free to do whatever the hell you want once again" I spoke as my previous compulsion lifted.

"Your welcome" I smiled as the bartender gave us our drinks.

"Welcome! You made me break Elijah's heart" she spat.

"He killed Tatia and broke my heart, so I used you to break his, you would have done the same Kat so don't try to play the victim it doesn't suit you" I snapped sipping my whiskey.

We stayed like that drinking for another half an hour neither of saying a word.

"Look I'm sorry you were collateral damage but put yourself in my shoes, I had just found out my sister was murdered by a man I considered my family, then I was stuffed in a box and kept from my child".

"Honestly I properly would have done worse, I have actually" Kat admitted with a shrug making me laugh.

"So what evil things do you have up your sleeve now, auntie Thyra, I assume you need me for something".

"No" I replied.

"No" she chuckled with distrust.

"For the first time in I don't know how long I'm truly happy Katherina. I divorced Nik, we signed papers and everything, there's also a custody agreement in place, I'm living with Eden outside the quarter. The only Mikealson I have face to face contact with is Freya, Nik and I only talk on the phone when it involves our child, even changed my name back to Petrova. I'm free Kat" I smiled with teary eyes.

"Seriously you and Klaus done? like that's all she wrote done" she spoke in disbelief.

"I'm sick of a life filled with revenge plots and family betrayals. I was done being a doormat and getting my heart broke. Now I just want a normal life, well as normal as I can get being an original vampire. All I want to do is raise my daughter and spend time with my son, and maybe have a little fun in-between".

"Who the hell are you and what have you done with Thyra?" she questioned with a bewildered look.

"I'm being serious Kat, I may not forgive Elijah for killing Tatia but I am done punishing him, hating him and Niklaus is a waste of my time, I don't want to be bitter and angry anymore. You were the last thing stopping me from moving on, come back to New Orleans or don't, in fact, do whatever you want, just know you're my family and you're always welcome".

Three day's later Katerina followed me back to New Orleans with Nadia in tow. While Nadia spends her time soaking up the nightlife of the quarter, her mother spent her time between my home and the compound making up for lost time with Elijah.

"Sorry, it's just weird getting used to this calm and collected Thyra. Your so zen now" Kat jested, pulling me from my thoughts.

I rolled my eyes at her statement.

"Mama, woof" Eden interrupted reaching for her stuffed pink wolf on the coffee table, which I picked up and handed to her, she loved that thing and she refused to sleep without it.

"Well, I'm leaving" Kat spoke kissing both mine and Eden's cheeks goodbye.

"Thanks' for watching her Kit-Kat".

"No problem, I'll call you tomorrow T".

"Oh, Kat please don't tell ...".

"Klaus or Elijah about your new bit on the side" she smirked making kissing faces.

"I'm serious if Klaus finds out ..."

"He'll snap your little police officers' neck as you did with his blonde plaything Cami?" she spoke finishing my sentence again which was extremely annoying.

I gave her a warning look wanting her to take this seriously.

"Don't worry, Thyra Klaus won't hear it from me although he will find out, I mean he's Klaus. Also, it doesn't matter if I tell Elijah he and Klaus barely speak but I won't tell Elijah either, your secret's safe with me".

"It's not a secret it's just none of their business" I grunted.

"My lips are sealed," she said blowing a kiss before leaving for her date.

I knew if I continued to see Will Kinney, Nik would find out but that wasn't what bothered me. Niklaus jealously and insecurity that Will would somehow replace him in Eden's life worried me, I knew Nik, therefore, I could predict how this would go.

Will was in danger and he didn't even know it.

It had been three weeks' since we started dating, I had bumped into him in the quarter after visiting Marcellus in Saint Anne's church, which he converted into a Gym and training center for his vampires.

Will had literally smacked into me, spilling my coffee all down my silk blouse, then he insisted on buying me a new one.

I don't know if it was his kind eyes or the fact that he showed me his police badge and said and I quote it's my duty to protect and serve, the line was so cheesy that it made me laugh so I let him buy me coffee then convince me to go on a date.

Three weeks, one coffee disaster, nine dates and I was still interested, yet we hadn't even slept together. We made out a few times he was a great kisser and there was defiantly sexual chemistry, we just hadn't had the opportunity yet.

Will made me laugh, he was good-looking, sweet, charming and knew nothing about my past that I was a vampire, it so uncomplicated and easy. I didn't know where it was going, he was human after all but I wasn't going to worry, just simply enjoy it and have fun.

Eden's yawn caught my attention, I looked down and saw her eyes fluttering so I rocked her in my arms helping send her to sleep.

It was night's like this with just the fire lighting and my daughter in my arm's that I realized how far I had come, and how much my life had changed.

I knew I would never go back not by choice.

A/N

So, this was just a chapter showing how things have changed, also Thyra is dating, I know a lot of you wanted to see her with someone else so your wish is my command, but what will Klaus do when he finds out?

Also, Katherine is back yay! Leave a comment and let me know what you thought of the chapter.

I know some of you will think she let Elijah off lightly, by bringing Katherine back but you have to understand Thyra wants to move on with her life, therefore, she's letting go of some of her old self, old grudges and a lot of hatred and anger.

Don't worry she's still Queen, she's just more laid back.
