Dearest Elijah,

To leave is to stay, but to love is to leave.
And I love you Elijah, I don't want to see you get hurt because of me and this prophecy. Hope needs you to tell her stories about her mother and stories about our love. Because of that, please do not follow after me or try and find me, this is my wish for you. I want you to be happy and I can' t make you happy. so forget about me, you lived without me before and you can do it again. I cannot look after Hope and raise her as if she is my own child because I can't help but blame myself for Hayley's death. I am not noble, I have to break my promise to Hayley. But remember...

From your smile that did beam,

So Scarlet started her journey and although she believed she was doing the right thing; Elijah was not the first to read the letter. Klaus was and he did not agree with Scarlet's choice to leave. For Klaus found the letter first and decided that his older brother would be broken without Scarlet. So he set off to find the lose Rose.

Scarlet had barely made it to the Edge of New Orleans before realising where she had to make one last stop before leaving the Quarter for good. She stopped at Mary's home buried deep in the Bayou where it could not be found. It was a good half a mile trek through the woods, where Scarlet began to recall what she's leaving behind. Scarlet became lost in thought as she approached Mary's cabin in the woods. When Mary approached Scarlet she stopped dead in her tracks as Mary said "We are what we leave behind, you know that so you've come to say goodbye." Scarlet nodded and Mary continued "Come in Darlin', " so Scarlet followed Mary inside. As she and Mary sat down Mary said,

"You're doing the right thing I tried to get Hayley to leave them and look what happened to her. Unfortunately it means Hope is stuck with that lot, I'm sorry it came to this."

"They might take awhile to get used to me not being there but hopefully they'll understand my choice. Could you do me a favour, Mary?"

"Anything Darlin'"

Scarlet took in a deep breath. Then began.

"Could you continue checking up on Hope, Please, I made a promise to Hayley that I would make sure Hope is safe," Mary nodded and Scarlet came to her feet "Thank you, I must be on my way so they can't follow me, Goodbye Mary I hope to see you again someday."

Mary rose and lead Scarlet to the door wishing her the best in her travels. With that Scarlet left knowing that Hope would be well looked after. And as she waved her troubles way she fell into deep thought, worrying about how Klaus will bring up Hope and if she would be happy. But as she reached her car she pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind and turned on the engine.

It was time to leave.

Klaus' POV

Where could she have possibly gone? I've searched every single inch of the Quarter and yet I have not found her. But then I recall her connection to Mary. Mary was like a mother to Scarlet. I know where she is.

Moments later I stumbled across Scarlet pulling her car out of the Bayou. I stood centrally in front of the car, so she wouldn't dare drive away. Then to my surprise Scarlet removed herself from the car.

"Don't make this any harder then it has to be, Nik, I'm going to leave and you can't stop me!" She said, surprising me of course, I've never seen someone stand up to me like that before. "You know I can't let that happen, Love, I read your little letter to Elijah," I paused holding up the letter she had written and continued "Quite the predicament you believe to have got yourself in to, but I could think of no one better to replace Hayley as Hope's mother than her childhood long time friend" I saw Scarlet's head drop but I needed her to be a mother to Hope because ever since Hayley's death my whole family has been so rapped up in their own grief that no one looked after Hope except Scarlet. I know that Hayley can never be replaced but Scarlet can step in her shoes for awhile.

Scarlet's POV

I can't believe he said that, Hayley can never be replaced and certainly not by me. "Hope needs a role model not someone who could possibly die at any moment because of a prophecy that puts a 'kill me' sign over their head. No matter what you think Klaus you don't need me, I'm human, I'm a vulnerability to this family pl-" I was cut off by a surprisingly calm Klaus.

"Yes you are human but I imagine you as a part of this family. You saved my damm life I can't just let that go and..." I stopped for a second but I continued soon after. "And I will not let you break my older brother's fragile heart, he loves you and I have become rather fond of having you around. Yes Hayley cannot be replaced but Hope does need a role model. I have never in a thousand years seen a person as strong, morally, physically and mentally, as you and you're a human as well. So yes I need you around, I can either take you kicking and screaming but I doubt that's an issue. Am I right love?"

He was right I don't know why I even thought of leaving. Good thing he brought the letter with him otherwise Elijah would have read it and started searching for me, knowing him.

He sounds a lot like Hayley and like Mary said we are what we leave behind...

And I'm not leaving, not yet...

Not without a fight!
