Chapter 22- Moving On

At the sound of the explosion, Link, Impa, and Purah jumped up in great alarm, their pointed ears perked. They all knew exactly where the noise came from, and exactly what had caused it. And worst of all, who was guaranteed to be caught in its blast. None of them needed an explanation, and no questions were asked. They all immediately ran out the door, hardly thinking straight. Link felt a horrible pit in his stomach, and couldn't even imagine what was going through Impa and Purah's heads at the moment.

When they arrived at the sight of the explosion, it was a sight that made them all feel horribly sick. The whole building was engulfed in flames, yet due to the many Skeikah villagers frantically throwing buckets full of water from the little river that ran through the village, the fires slowly died down. The three grief stricken kids felt no strength in their legs, so they fell to the ground on their knees, watching the heartbreaking scene play out.

Tears unconsciously streamed down their faces, but they were too shocked to make a noise or speak. After around an hour, the fire dissipated completely, leaving the surrounding area in a haunting silence. The entire village was wide awake, staring mournfully at the burnt remains of the once proud standing laboratory. As the twilight sky shifted into darker colors of the night, the villagers slowly walked away back to their houses. Many of them gave the three children sorrowful looks, but they decided to give them their space as they all shuffled away quietly.

Impa was the first to speak, her voice sounding terribly shaky, "I-I'm so, so s-sorry." She couldn't think of anything else to say because of her shock, and the fact her body shook from the sobs she tried to desperately keep silent.

"They, they c-can't be go-gone-" Purah stuttered, but just shook her head while she cried after her voice cracked. Link felt like his heart shattered, once again. In his opinion, one of the saddest sounds is the sound of someone's voice cracking when they're about to cry.

Impa moved closer to Purah and wrapped her arms around her sister to offer whatever comfort she could. Purah buried her head into her chest, loudly sobbing and hiccuping in her sister's embrace. Impa cried softly, still shaking all over. She did her best to restrict her crying, not for shame of crying, for she had none. Impa felt with her parents passing to be her sister's only guardian left, and Impa wanted to appear as strong as she could for Purah's sake. So she leaned her head on Purah's shoulder, and tightened her arms around her.

Link felt absolutely devastated. What seemed to be one of the proudest days of his life turned out to be one of the saddest and hurtful. It was like losing his parents all over again. As he watched his dear friends mourn, it brought back the painful memories of losing his own parents. The sight and recollection tore open the old wounds of his past that he had tried to heal and mend in the last few years.

He had grown so attached to Cato and Akilah, the only people in Hyrule who offered him their home after the loss of his own. They opened their arms to him so generously and lovingly close to two years ago. And he had only grown more attached to them, even considered them his second set of parents. The devoted Sheikah couple taught Link lessons he couldn't have learned anywhere else. Cato guided him and trained him, revealing to him techniques and skills only a Sheikah warrior could. Akilah inspired him, with her kindness and sweet tone, always seeking to learn and teach others around her. They might not have been his parents by blood, but they were by bond.

And now they were gone forever.

Link wiped some of the hot tears off his cheek, stood up, and walked up next to Impa and Purah who were still embraced while they wept. He sat down in the cool grass and did his best to engulf his two 'sisters' in a reassuring hug, just like the way they hugged him in the same consoling manner when he first came to their doorstep after the loss of Alvar and Zarya. He felt his wall break as a sob escaped him when he sensed Impa's strong arm bringing him into their group hug.

The three kids sat there in each other's arms lamenting for a time none of them knew. But as the minutes passed, their sobbing receded and they slowly quieted and calmed down a little. Impa was the first to stand up, and she offered her hand to Purah, who she helped to stand up. Purah still clung to Impa's arm and leaned against her. Link struggled to stand up, but when he did he stood on Impa's other side and grabbed her free hand.

With heavy hearts and clouded minds, they walked back to their house. The dark night sky surrounded them, and the whole village had gone silent. Crickets softly chirping and the late night wind shifting through the trees were the only sounds that kept the area alive. Some clouds were visible in the sky, and they slowly moved across the sky, seemingly looming over the three friends and dwelling over the region as if to pay their respect to the fallen heroes. The surrounding lanterns with their flickering flames were the lights that dimly illuminated the path home.

Walking into the dark home knowing that it would always have that sense of loneliness, the lack of their parents' cheerful voices, and that it contained so many memories of a time now past, only brought more tears to roll down their faces. They gradually walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. Impa went upstairs to grab some pillows and blankets and brought them back to the couch. No words were exchanged between the three of them, they just simply distributed the blankets and pillows and cuddled up next to each other, trying to fall asleep in the caring and supportive company of those they loved.

*One Week Later*

After a week passed, Impa, Purah, and Link had come to terms with the reality of their loss. As recent as the wounds were, they knew they had to persevere and carry on. The three were still mourning greatly, but were trying their best to readjust and continue living. In Hyrule, seventeen was seen as the age of responsibility, reason, and independence. When a hylian turned seventeen, he or she was seen as an adult. Since Impa herself was in her younger months of seventeen, she was able to take over the guardian roles of Purah and Link. Impa accepted and took on this new part, embracing the new challenges it offered her.

She didn't want to, she wished her parents were there. But she knew they were gone, and that the part was one she, and only herself alone, could play. She struggled with finding the line between guardian and sister, but eventually was accepted as the oldest sister, but with more of a final say. And with Purah and Link being older, more dependent and understanding, they never questioned her words, which were always fair and wise.

Impa did her best to even out the daily household chores, and soon worked out a system that everyone could agree on. As the three took on more work than usual, they even learned more about each other. For example, despite Purah potentially having a much higher IQ than her siblings, she was a terrible cook. She even found a way to ruin simple things like tea and toast, so she was never allowed to help with the meal making. Link tried laundry, but couldn't stand tediously folding clothes and cleaning cloth in general, so he gave that job to Purah. Link himself took on some general housework like sweeping and wiping tables. Impa put herself in charge of meals, and found with delight that Link took a surprisingly good take to cooking. He slowly learned from Impa, who gladly taught her eager-to-learn student. And after time, practice, and lots of trial and error, Link could take turns with Impa cooking meals by himself. And coming from a nearly thirteen year old boy, that certainly was impressive.

Seven days after the passing of Akilah and Cato, the three companions went to the center of the village, where the Goddess statue stood. The statue was in the middle of a small body of water that was connected to the lazy river that ran through Kakariko Village. It was surrounded by four tall lanterns that were set up in the water that surrounded the small island itself. They were always lit, and if they ever did go out, some archer would simply walk by and shoot the pillars with a fire arrow. Red talismans made of wood containing Sheikah writing were hung over the little body of water, and always swung softly in the wind, and made a specific noise as the wooden pieces clinked together. A neatly built walkway made of wooden planks led the path over the water to the statue of Hylia, and bunches of decorative flowers were laid around the sculpture. The area was always very serene, and the villagers always walked by it with a quiet respectfulness, as even the Sheikah children would cease their running and playing around it.

But despite the peaceful scenery, Link, Impa, and Purah were not there to admire their surroundings. Instead they came to admire the small shrines set up in memory of their parents. It was an old Shiekah custom to make little temporary memorials in front of a nearby Goddess statue for the recently deceased. They would consist of pictures, letters, and objects that were somehow related to the person, and were usually very personal. In keeping with the tradition, the three kids got together to create their own memorials for their beloved parents. They were touched, as many villagers had even added to the tribute with their own mementos. But it came as no surprise, since Cato and Akilah were very loved and respected members of the Sheikah tribe.

The reason the little shrines were placed in front of the Goddess Hylia statues were considered symbolism of two things. Some said the reason was to represent giving Hylia back her warriors and servants, and others said it was to represent the fact that those loyal warriors and servants passed on were now with Hylia in the afterlife. Nonetheless, no matter how one interpreted it, it was a nice reminder, and many would offer them up in their prayers and thoughts during their visits to the statue.

The three gazed at the memorials in a solemn silence. They could feel that familiar lump begin to form in their throats, and their eyes began to sting. But seeing such peace, and the knowledge that their loved ones were in a better place did offer some comfort and closure. They got lost in bittersweet memories and even smiled through their tear blurred vision. Their parents were gone, but at least they had each other. With each other they would carry on, and forever cherish the memories of the past, but try to focus and prepare for the opportunities of the future.

After reminiscing long enough, they turned around and started to walk back home. When they arrived, the three sat down in the living room, too lazy to start making dinner and wrap up the day, as the end of it was quickly approaching. Now they weren't exactly lazy, just depressed, which led to lack of motivation to make dinner. The three just sat in silence, waiting for someone to make a move. Impa felt responsible to get everyone moving, so she decided to start some sort of conversation to wake up Purah and Link, then get them to work with evening chores.

She still had her parents in her mind, and all the memories of them flew around her crowded head. She tried to focus on the positive ones, despite the fact that they always tended to make her a bit emotional.

Impa suddenly smiled, "Hey Purah, remember the first time mom took you to the research lab when you were like, five?"

Link looked over to Purah and saw her do something she hadn't done in days. She smiled and softly laughed, "Oh Hylia, I do. It's so embarrassing."

Link grinned, "What? What happened?"

Impa giggled, "Purah, care to explain?"

Purah sighed as she felt a sudden rush of emotions. Happy, sad, amused, sorrowful, and all at the same time. It was like a heartache, a heart aching for a time now passed.

She straightened her glasses and tried to swallow the lump rising in her throat, "Well, when I was a young five year old, mom took me to the research lab. I vaguely remember all the details, but I remember being totally amazed by everything. The glow, the atmosphere, the sound of machines running, the processes, the plans and ambitions. Everything. I was totally taken away right then and there. But let's remember I was only five. So mom left me alone for two minutes, and when she came back to check on me, I was already choking on an ancient screw that I decided to taste test."

Link burst out laughing, as that was a story he hadn't yet heard, "Wow, good thing your mom caught you before you swallowed it, one could say that would really screw up your stomach."

Impa started to chuckle, pleased to have lightened the atmosphere up a little. Purah even laughed a bit too, although it seemed outlined with a melancholy tone.

Since Purah actually felt better after talking aloud of her past memories, she tried to strike up more conversation, "Well Impa, you didn't exactly have a great beginning with the start of your training either. Tell Link about that, why don't you."

Impa smiled, "Ok, I will. Well after watching dad train and work so much, I was mesmerized by the unique powers he could control and use. I wanted nothing more than to learn how to develop and take advantage of my Sheikah abilities. I was eight when he started my training, and I was so excited and proud. But at the end of my first day, I learned that unlocking and learning powers were super exhausting and hard. So I came home after the first lesson, tired, sore, hungry, and mad. I complained to mom for around an hour, about how unfair it was that us Skeikah had to work for our abilities, instead of just being born with them. I think I made around seven borderline blasphemous statements toward Hylia that day, salty that she made us work for our gifts. Mom and dad just stared at me disapprovingly as I went off about how wrong the Goddess was, but I'm pretty sure they were holding back laughter."

"I can definitely see that playing out," Link giggled.

The conversation went quiet again due to everyone now feeling sad and teary, for the topic was still a very sensitive one. After some time of thoughtfulness, Impa spoke up again, "I don't know about you two, but dinner would sound pretty great to me right about now." She paused her speaking to see if her companions showed any approval, and when they both nodded their heads and visibly brightened up a little, she continued, "How does some tomato soup sound? We've got a lot of tomatoes due to everyone donating food to us lately, and maybe Link could make some grilled cheese sandwiches to go with it?"

Link nodded his head, clearly approving of her suggestions. Purah nodded, some comfort food did sound appetizing right about now. Link jumped up from where he was previously sitting and went to the kitchen to get started with dinner preparations. Impa was about to follow, but paused when she didn't hear Purah's footsteps behind her. She turned around and her light smile disappeared. Purah was simply staring off into nothing, looking like she was about to cry.

She had been doing that a lot lately, and it always made Impa feel awful. Seeing her usually bubbly and eccentric sister with completely shattered spirits made her feel even worse. She walked back and sat down next to Purah without saying a word, for none really needed to be said. Impa simply gave her a comforting hug, the only remedy she knew that seemed to truly work. She found that where words fail, a loving hug will most indefinitely suffice.

Link popped his head back in the room to see what was going on, but when he quickly read the situation, he decided to leave them alone and let them have their moment. A few minutes later, the two sisters walked into the kitchen. Impa started to help Link, while Purah sat down on one of the nearby chairs and watched, feeling much better.

"Hey, can I help with dinner in any way?" Purah asked in a meek, quiet voice.

Impa flashed her a teasing look, "If you'd grab the buckets of water to put out the inevitable fire beforehand, then yes of course, you may help us cook."

Purah playfully rolled her eyes, "It was only one small house fire."

"It was one small piece of toast," Link sarcastically chimed in.

Impa continued. "How does one start a fire with only toast anyway? And what was it you said before doing so, in that oh so confident tone of voice? 'If I can make tech, I can make toast', or something along those lines."

"I suppose she wasn't bready to undertake such a challenge," Link snickered.

Purah put her hands up in an act of mock surrendering, "Alright alright, I get it. I'll go set the table."

As time passed, the wound of the unexpected departure of their beloved parents slowly became more endurable. Still present, still sore, but healing nonetheless. The three 'siblings' were extra sweet to each other, trying their best to make each other feel better. And as much as Impa tried her best to stay stronger for her younger siblings, Purah and Link constantly expressed to her that it was alright for her to rely on them too.

Due to the loss of the Sheikah research laboratory of Kakariko, Purah was left without a nearby place to continue her research and expand her advanced knowledge of her passion. She began to reach out and try to find a new place to pick up where she left off in her preferred line of work. But unfortunately, there were only three other research centers. One in Hyrule Castle itself, another located in Hateno, and the third in Akkala. And all three required a lot to get into, things like years of training and studying, a Sheikah background, an exceptional level of knowledge and IQ, and someone to recommend you, or being related to another famous researcher. One must have a firm comprehension and expertness on the whole field of ancient Sheikah technology.

Purah had all of that and more, but what she didn't have was the age of seventeen or older. She was still stuck at fifteen, and desperately yearned for time to pass so she could reach that year. Due to her great impatience, she wished there was some way to make herself older. She often heard of people constantly wishing they were younger, but who would want that? What person would be crazy enough to work for a way to be made younger?

So Purah was stuck at Kakariko for a bit longer. Now she loved her village dearly, but she still looked forward to the time when she could leave and travel, pursuing her dreams of becoming a real and official Sheikah researcher. She kept herself busy with jobs around Kakariko, but still read and studied with the large variety of books her mother had left behind daily, and constantly sketched out plans for future projects.

Impa on the other hand, was offered a great position relatively soon after her parents death. A month after their passing, a Hylian postman came out to Kakariko Village with an important letter for Impa, daughter of Cato and Akilah.

It was midday when the letter was delivered, and Link was walking around the serene and peaceful town. He had finished his chores for the day, and had even lent his assistance to a few villagers here and there. Things like offering help with pumpkin and carrot farming, to stacking and moving store goods for some of the shopkeepers. Link personally loved helping Claree the most, the kind woman who ran the Sheikah clothing store. Not only was she a pleasant person to work with, she also often rewarded Link with free clothes as a thanks for his charitable help. Impa and Purah even started to notice the price of their clothes being questionably low, but happily accepted the generous discount without pointing it out or asking any questions.

Link hiked along the outskirts of the village, taking in the view around him. Taking walks and exploring was one of his favorite pastimes. Not only was it relaxing, it also gave him good exercise. The surrounding mountains and rolling, green hills, were all covered with blossoming trees and abundant plant life. The birds were all singing sweetly, and in the fields he could see small families of deer grazing the lush foliage. The sun wasn't shining that bright, and the fluffy clouds in the sky often covered the sun for periods of time, further softening the sun's bright gaze. The cool wind breeze shifted his short hair, blowing strands of it in his face. After continually trying to put his hair behind his long, pointed ears, he soon gave up and shook his head, resulting in messier hair. But he took a goofy pleasure in messing up his hair, as something about having his light brown hair in his face gave him a small amused laugh.

As Link approached the entrance of the village, the sudden noise of a horse riding across the quiet plains snapped Link out of his peaceful trance. He turned to look down the path below him and silently observed the rider, who he guessed to be Hylian. Link was very curious, so he stood by the entry of Kakariko and waited for the mysterious visitor. When the man rode up, he saw Link and brought his horse to a halt a few feet away. Link took note of how well the man controlled his horse, and admired his horsemanship for a second. With the man significantly closer and sitting still, he was able to take a good look at him.

The man was Hylian, like he presumed. He seemed to be in his early thirties, and was slim and tall looking. His outfit consisted of worn out looking trousers, and a dark blue shirt with a wool knitted sweater. But his royal guard cap suggested he was, or once was, a member of the Hylian Royal Guard. He had short, dark brown hair and a charming smile. But Link was more interested in the many scars the rider had on him. Link thought they looked super cool, and the stories behind them must have been even cooler.

The man waved, "Hey kid, nice to meet you."

Link cleared his throat and smiled, "Hello sir! Might I ask what brings you here?"

The rider grinned at the young boy and his guard like stature. "Why of course. My name is Dai, and I'm a mailman from Central Hyrule. I have a letter to deliver for one of the members of the Sheikah tribe from the high and mighty Hylian court itself. Now might I ask what a hylian boy is doing out here? You're no Sheikah yourself."

Oh I'm not Sheikah? Me, a Hylian? Figured that one out on your own, genius? Link mentally sassed, but kept his sharp thoughts to himself. Aloud he chuckled, "I live here. You see, I was adopted into a Skeikah family."

Dai turned red, "Oh I'm so sorry kid. I didn't realize that. I offer my deepest apologies. You got a name?"

Link resisted to say 'no' for kicks, but instead responded with, "Link, my name is Link. I live with my two adoptive sisters, Impa and Purah."

Dai's eyes widened, "You live with Impa? Daughter of deceased Cato and Akilah Impa?"

Link nodded slowly, "Yes sir, but why do you ask?"

"Well the letter is for her! What a convenient coincidence. Do you think you would mind taking it to her for me? I know it's a bit unorthodox, but I'm sure you'll do the job, you seem trustworthy to me."

"Oh of course! I can take it to her!" Link nodded his head eagerly.

The man brought his horse closer to Link and carefully handed the envelope to him, "Now this goes straight to her, you understand? No opening it before she does," Dai sternly commanded.

"Yes sir! It will go straight to her," Link said promptly as he admired the note. The envelope was made of a creamy white, stiff paper. The ink on the front was written in a fancy, professional looking font, and the red wax to seal the letter closed was imprinted in the shape of the Hylian crest.

Dai relaxed his tone of voice, "Thanks Link, you're doing me a solid. It's much appreciated. Now I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you always lived here?"

Link shook his head, "No sir, I did live in Central Hyrule up until I was eleven, but with my dad passing, I was adopted by our family's closest friends. That's when I came here. It's been a while since I've been back to the castle town. What's it like there nowadays?"

"Well, it's been really busy. With Hyrule becoming increasingly more dangerous, and the threat of the looming prophecy of Calamity Ganon, everyone has been on edge. Training soldiers, researchers researching, constant talk of King Rhoam, and his daughter, Zelda, who's supposedly carrying some sealing power, destined to fight Ganon. I could go on, I think you left at a good time, it's much more serene and peaceful here, I almost envy you for that. It hasn't changed much, it's just a lot more hectic and busy," Dai explained.

"Oh, I see. Well I wish you all the best of luck. I'm asking because of your royal guard cap, but are you part of the royal guard?"

Dai looked down for a second, then back at Link with a sad smile, "I was, until I was gravely injured in a battle a few years ago. I was hit too hard in the wrong spot on my leg, and now I can hardly walk without a limp, much less running or marching of any kind. But somehow, I can still manage horseback riding, so I now serve as an official mailman of sorts, delivering important messages for the Hylian court."

Link gave him a sympathetic look, "Oh wow, I'm really sorry to hear about that. I mean on the bright side, at least you can still work and support yourself and whatnot, right?"

Dai grinned at the young boy trying to find a bright side for him, "Yes, that is true. I count myself lucky to have walked away alive and still able to work, not all are that lucky. Well what about you Link, what do you want to do for a living when you're older?"

Link's face visibly brightened in his excitement, "I want to be a Hylian knight! Maybe even a royal guard too! I've been training for it since I can remember, and it's all I've ever wanted to do. My dad was one of the best soldiers, and I want to live up to his example and serve Hyrule."

"That's quite a noble profession, and an admirable goal kid, I'm sure you'd make a great knight. You've got to be at least sixteen to sign up for knighthood, so your time will come soon enough. Who was your dad, if you don't mind me asking?"

"His name was Alvar."

Dai gave him a shocked look, "No way Link! I used to know Alvar! His wife was Zarya, correct? He was one of my commanding officers at one point. He was definitely one of Hyrule's best soldiers indeed."

Link's heart swelled with pride for his parents, as well as the familiar feeling of missing them dearly. "Thank you sir."

"Don't mention it kid. Well thanks for the little talk, but I should really be off. Be careful with that letter, and take care ya hear! See you around, maybe. Stay safe Link!"

"Same to you, stay safe!"

With that, Link and Dai waved to each other before parting ways. Dai rode off, and Link ran back into the village, and didn't stop running until he reached the threshold of the front door of his house. He opened the door, announcing his presence with him obnoxiously kicking his shoes off his feet and sloppily lining them against the wall by the door. Purah looked up from the drawing she was sketching at the kitchen table, slightly annoyed at Link's loud entrance.

"Hey Purah! Do you know where Impa is? I need to see her."

"What, am I not good enough of a sister for you? Haha, teasing. I think she's upstairs straightening her stuff in our room or something. Why?"

"Well I got this letter for her. It was just delivered from Central Hyrule itself, the mailman said it was really important. I'm actually really curious to see what it's about, so I want to find her so she can open it quickly."

"Oooooh really? That's really exciting! But who does she know in Central Hyrule, and why would they write to her?"

"I don't know, but I'm going upstairs to find her."

Link and Purah raced upstairs and burst into Impa and Purah's room, where Impa was just sitting down on her bed, preparing to get comfortable with a book. When she saw her two little siblings giving her expecting looks, she raised an eyebrow, "What do you two want? What are you both doing here?"

Link offered her the envelope, "Look! Some hylian mailman brought this for you! He said it was important!"

Impa carefully took the letter and scrutinized it from cover to cover, "Oh Hylia, it's from the Hyian royal court. Why would they write to me?"

"Looks like they finally caught up to you and your criminal record."

"Shut up, Purah. I've never done anything illegal in my entire life anyway."

"Well reading a romance novel until 2 am, then kicking me awake to tell me how it ends has to be illegal in some country."

Impa shrugged with a smile as she carefully opened the envelope. Purah and Link went quiet as her brown eyes went quickly across the page. As she got further through the letter she covered her mouth with her hand.

"Nayru's wisdom," Impa gasped.

"What? What does it say?" Purah questioned impatiently.

"I can't believe it. I was offered a job. They offered me a position in Central Hyrule," Impa said softly in disbelief.

"For what position? A janitor?

Impa chuckled, "Here genius, read it yourself."

Purah took the letter from Impa's hand and straightened her glasses. Link read over her shoulder.

"What?! You were offered the position of a Royal Advisor, to take dad's place?

Link, who couldn't speed read like Purah could, jumped up in his excitement, "No way Impa! That's so cool! Oh wow! Are you gonna do it? Are you gonna accept?"

Impa returned their anticipation filled faces with a blank stare, still trying to fully process what she had just read. After a few long seconds, she began to slowly smile.

"How could I possibly refuse?"

Purah practically screamed, "Yes! I knew you would! Oh I'm so proud of you!"

Link ran up to her and gave her a hug around her stomach, since that was as high as he could reach, "I bet you're going to be the best royal advisor ever!"

Impa blushed, "Aww, you two are so sweet. But what about you guys? I mean, will you both be alright while I'm gone for several hours out of the days I'm away? I'd hate for something to happen while I'm gone and-"

"I'm going to stop you right there sis," Purah interjected, suddenly confidently leaning against Link. "Me and Linky got this. We'll be just fine, we're older, independent, and responsible individuals who are not going to get in the way of this."

Impa gave Purah a skeptical look.

"Oh come on, don't give me that look. We'll be fine. Besides, with you having quality Sheikah insight, and being the daughter of the past royal advisor, along with being a wise, well trained warrior, I can't think of a better person for the job. Go for it."

"Alright, I will. Thank you guys, I think it will work out just fine! I've got two weeks to send in a response, so I can push off writing something back for now."

Purah playfully wagged her finger, "Tsk tsk tsk. Procrastination for writing is a writer's biggest enemy. That's no attitude for a future royal advisor, is it?"

"I don't care, it doesn't have to be done tonight," Impa shot back lazily. Link laughed, he really did love listening to the two sisters go back and forth seemingly constantly.

So as the days slowly went by, the outlook of Impa, Purah, and Link significantly brightened up. Their futures and destinies crept ever closer, with the future looking up. They were truly moving on, and beginning to find their own destinies. Impa had her career seemingly secured, and Purah had her life's goals and ambitions all planned out. Link continued his training along with Impa diligently, always fervently preparing for his undetermined future. But he felt that his life's vocation wouldn't come until many years later. Honestly, what significant and life altering event could take place for one at the young age of twelve?

Funny enough, anything can happen to anyone at any age, depending on the person and their chosen destiny. Depending on a given person's personality and hard earned strength, life can thrust them in unseen events and objectives, way above their dreams and fantasies. Sometimes, age does not deter life from assigning great roles to great rising heroes.

Link, being only one month from thirteen, was just about to learn that lesson in great detail.
