Author's End Note
^ Couldn't think of what to put for cover art so I have inserted an image of my glorious rabbit sisters, Tetra and Aryll ^
Wow, I did it. I actually completed a novel. Finally got around to finishing this book. Me, Mary, start, write, and complete a book? A whole fanfiction?! What!?
I can't believe I'm actually finished with this project, and wow. I started writing "The Origin of a Champion in October of 2020, and now it's so close to 2022. Not a full two years, but over a year project. It's crazy for me to think that that much time has passed, and what has taken place in my life during the writing production. Crazy stuff man, crazy stuff.
I'd be lying to say I'm not a tiiiiiiny bit emotional right now.
I honestly started writing this thinking "oNly 10 ChApTeRs At MoSt"
"iT wIlL tAkE mE oNlY 3 mOnThS, iF eVeN tHaT"
Ha, I laugh at my foolish past self. Or maybe my past self laughs at current me for turning a small project into a full-scale novel. We are both laughing at each other I suppose.
I wrote "The Origin of a Champion" because despite the huge amount of lore Breath of the Wild gave us, it gives us little to nothing about Link's backstory. I loved to make up headcanons of what it might be like, and how he might have been raised. Eventually, I had a huge story, and when I discovered Wattpad, I thought writing my headcanon down in novel form might be a great place to start. I don't know if the game developers had one in mind, but with the canon events somewhat shaping the book, I'd like to think I maybe came close in some areas, but who knows? I ultimately hope you wonderful readers enjoyed, and that it might even make up for what Nintendo didn't tell you all.
But, as a writer, I owe a lot of credit to you readers.
Thank you all so, so, so much. Every vote, comment, and bit of encouragement did not go unnoticed. I get so excited every time someone thanks me, supports me, taking time out of their day, and giving it to my work. As one of the many writers that write for free on this website, I thrive off of readers' feedback and support. So thank you to each and every one of you for the motivation. I can't say it enough, thank you!
Super special thanks to-
@robin-rights for introducing me to Wattpad. Thank you for editing and getting me started!
@Crackercruncher123 for being my biggest supporter. Kylie, you've left me the most comments of anyone throughout this entire journey, and I was always super excited to read each and every one of them. You are one of the most amazing people I've met online, and a terrific friend off Wattpad as well. Internet bestie, no doubt
@Bard13 for being a great friend both on and off Wattpad. You are seriously one of the most talented people I've seen writing on this entire website, so the fact you read my work will never not amaze me lol You would point out hidden lore, and your feedback is always one I looked forward to. Thank you for your great friendship!
@Wolf00Link for being the first person other than my friend in real life to notice my work. You were my first follower and commenter, so thank you for helping me get started in the beginning!
@abbietung11 and @BotW_Champion_Link for such kind and supportive feedback. You both were super encouraging and I loved hearing from both of you after every upload.
I could go on and mention many, many more profiles, but I wanted to thank those above especially (:
I won't stop writing here, to any wondering. I have many other stories planned, although all AU's. Another book shaped around canon events of one specific game is possible but highly unlikely.
The next chapter is a bunch of fun facts about "The Origin of a Champion" that I felt like putting out there.
Stay safe, and I'll see you all when fate decides next!
- Hylian at Heart (Mary)
