25. A Forgotten Childhood
Y/N's POV
I woke up the next morning, Hermione's head on my chest, my arms resting around her and memories of last night came rushing back to me. I had a girlfriend...Hermione Granger was my girlfriend. It was almost like everything was back to normal.
She stirred and opened her eyes, giving me a confused but adorable look. I smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Good morning 'Mione."
She smiled back at me. "Good morning F/N."
I scrambled up, accidentally pulling the cloak off us in the process. "Do we have lessons today?" I asked. Lessons weren't on my mind, the only thing on my mind was the girl lying next to me.
"Oh crap! We do! We've got Charms in ten minutes!" Hermione replied before frantically getting up.
"Relax 'Mione, we're fine, we'll make it." I said, trying to calm the girl down. However, she was till frantic and was all over the place.
"I've got to go! I need to get my books and everything." Hermione said and left but not before giving me a quick peck on the cheek.
I was deciding whether I wanted to go to lessons today or not, last night was weird. I felt some memories flash back to me as I saw the full moon. I could vaguely remember a werewolf...a long-haired man...and a rat?
I was hoping that if I walked around maybe I would see something that would trigger my memory. So, today, I decided to not attend my lessons and instead go for a stroll around Hogwarts' grounds.
It would be quite easy to not get caught so I set off straight away, but not before clearing all the stuff from me and Hermione's date. The Hogwarts' grounds were filled with a pleasant breeze, I sighed as I walked, glancing at my surroundings. To my left was the Forbidden Forest and glancing into there, a memory flashed back into my mind. My first year at Hogwarts, my first detention. I was with Harry and Draco and a dog, there was a dark figure drinking unicorn blood...that was Lord Voldemort.
Dismissing that memory, I continued walking. There was now a hut in front of me, this specific hut brought back a vast amount of memories from my earlier years at Hogwarts. A Dragon appeared in my mind...Hagrid's Dragon...then my mind flashed to another Dragon...a Hungarian Horntail...the Triwizard Tournament...the first task...the second task...the final task...my death.
All my old Hogwarts memories started coming back to me and after an hour wandering around the grounds, I seemed to of recollected every single memory that I had from Hogwarts. Now all I was missing was my life before Hogwarts. I glanced at my watch, would anyone notice if I snuck back to the Slytherin Common Room?
Taking my chances, I made my way back inside the castle and headed towards the Dungeons, sneaking past Snape's classroom since he was currently teaching a class. Muttering the password to the Common Room, I entered and luckily no one was there, I made my way to my dormitory and found myself lying in my bed, staring at the ceiling before my eyes closed...
Flashback to Y/N's childhood
Third Person's POV
It was Christmas day, 1987. Young Y/N was unwrapping his presents, alongside his family. His ten year old brother Issac was happily playing with his new toys whilst Y/N was unwrapping his last present.
"I know what that is!" Issac said happily, looking at his younger brother's gift.
"Now Issac, don't ruin the surprise for your brother." the boys' mother, Joyce said, a smile on her face.
Their father, Steven was watching Y/N eagerly, waiting for him to open his present from both Steven and Joyce.
Y/N ripped the wrapping apart hastily to reveal a broomstick. "A broomstick! Does that mean I can play Quidditch with you and Issac now dad?"
Steven nodded at his youngest son. "Yep. Me, you and Issac can play before lunch."
Y/N had a massive grin on his face, he admired his broomstick and Steven, seeing the joy and happiness in his son's face decided to make him even happier. "And you know what, when we go over to the Weasleys' for Christmas dinner, you can show everyone."
"Ron is going to be so jealous!" Y/N said happily.
Issac looked up and stopped messing around with his magical joke set. "Wait. Does that mean I can see the twins?"
Joyce nodded. "We'll be going to their house later."
"Wicked!" said Issac. "I can show Fred and George all my cool new joke stuff."
The two parents watched their children adoringly, it was times like these, seeing both their sons happy and excited that made them so happy to be parents. Steven gave his wife a delicate kiss before getting up.
"Now, who's ready for some Quidditch?"
Both Y/N and Issac leapt to their feet and exclaimed happily as they followed their father out into their garden. This wouldn't be Y/N's first time on a broom since he was given a mini broomstick on his fourth birthday. However, it would be his first time on a full sized broom and his first time flying properly with his brother and his father. It would be an understatement to say that the boy was excited. Taking his broom with him, Y/N went into the family garden and whilst his father and Issac went to get their broom, Y/N was figuring out how to mount his own.
It was a surreal experience for him, from watching his father and his older brother fly around on brooms to having his own. Placing his broom on the floor Y/N mimicked his father and shouted. "Up!"
The broom listened to the young boy and flew into his hand. Eyes wide in shock and excitement, Y/N continued to do what he had seen his father and Issac do countless times. Seating himself comfortably on his broom, Y/N debated whether to wait for his father to come back or to just fly. His impatient side taking over him, Y/N pushed off for the ground and suddenly, he was in the air.
It was exhilarating, although he was only a couple metres off the ground, the adrenaline he got made his heart race. It was nothing like his other broom, which was designed to be used indoors.
"Dad! Issac! Look I'm flying!" Y/N said proudly to the other two who were now coming back, their brooms in hand.
Steven wanted to show his disapproval for his son, it was irresponsible to start flying without any adult supervision but the older man couldn't help but look at his son with pride. Sure he wasn't flying properly yet, Y/N was able to summon his broom and float in the air.
"You should've waited for me and Issac," Steven told his youngest son, "but congratulations Y/N, do you want to go higher?"
Y/N nodded eagerly and Steven and Issac joined him in the air. Y/N's father would demonstrate what to do and Y/N would follow, picking up the technique easily. Within an hour Y/N was flying confidently. Steven's next goal was to teach his son Quidditch. Luckily for him, Y/N had read up on all the rules. Steven had taken both his sons to Quidditch games and since Y/N was a quick learner, he picked up on the rules.
The young boy had especially taken an interest in seeking, the prospect of chasing after something and going into fast dives excited Y/N. Issac, however, took after their father and preferred the chaser position. Steven was talented in both, he used to be a Gryffindor chaser although he first tried out for seeker. Unfortunately for him, Harry's father, James was a better seeker than him.
All three of them were outside until they were called in for lunch, it was a plain and basic lunch due to the fact that later they would be having a meal at the Weasleys' and anyone who knew Mrs Weasley knew that she never failed to produce a feast.
Later, the family of four arrived at the Burrow and Y/N, who was holding onto his broom, greeted all the adults before going over to Ron and starting to show off his new broom. Ron was jealous, but Y/N promised to let the boy have a go.
Issac was with the twins, showing them his Christmas gifts. The trio had planned a prank on everyone during the Christmas dinner. They were going to unleash Dungbombs that came in Issac's joke set at the dinner table, as well as this, they were going to replace the normal lollipops at the table with acid pops.
During the dinner, everyone was cheerily eating and talking happily. The adults were asking the older Weasley sons, Bill, Charlie and Percy about their time at Hogwarts. Y/N and Ron were talking about Quidditch along with the youngest Weasley, Ginny. This left Fred, George and Issac free to cause mischief. Halfway through the meal, all three boys unleashed a Dungbomb each, causing a horrid smell to fill the room. Whilst everyone was distracted by the smell, Issac replaced the bowl of lollipops that Mrs Weasley had filled with an identical bowl, only this time there were Acid Pops.
Once everyone had calmed down and the smell had disappeared, the three mischief makers looked innocent and pretended they had nothing to do with it even though everyone knew it was them. Mrs Weasley looked like she was going to scold her the twins but Steven distracted her, asking for dessert. Issac looked at his father and his father shot him a wink, almost like he knew what was going on.
When desert was brought out, Ron eyed the lollipops hungrily and Y/N was looking at the Christmas pudding.
"Pass me a lollipop will you Y/N?" asked Ron.
Y/N complied and passed Ron a lollipop, little did he know that four pairs of eyes were watching him intently. Fred, George, Issac and Steven. Steven was a mischief maker in his time and could easily recognise the Acid Pops. When Ron consumed the Acid Pop and shreiked loudly due to the hole in his tongue. Everyone apart from Mrs Weasley burst out laughing.
Y/N looked at his best friend and smiled, in that moment, everything was perfect.
End of Flashback
Y/N's POV
I reopened my eyes to see Draco peering over at me.
"Why weren't you in lessons today?" he demanded.
I shrugged. "I had to catch up on stuff."
I wasn't lying, I did have to catch up on stuff, my memories.
Everything that was once forgotten I remembered again.
