Nightmares
Y/n's POV
I started having nightmares when I got the news of Shiro disappearing. They were normally about him disappearing from me, while I tried to reach him. But tonight was different. I fought beside Shiro, firing arrow after arrow at the advancing Galra. The others had disappeared. I heard Shiro scream and turn to see a shot pierce his chest, causing him to fall down.
"SHIRO!!!!" I ran to his side, but the Galra swarmed us. I try to reach Shiro, but I was outnumbered. I fought and fought and fought, screaming the entire time. Two Galra manage to grab me and force me on my knees. A Galran came forward. It was Sendak. With a sneer on his face, he drops Shiro in front of me, pulling out his gun. He pressed the gun against Shiro's chest. Shiro looks at me with sad eyes.
"Shiro..." I gasp, struggling in the arms of the Galrans.
"It'll be alright, Y/n." He smiles at me. Sendak fires.
"NO!" I scream as Shiro falls onto his side. The Galrans let me go and I crawl to his side. His lifeless eyes stare up at me. "Shiro...no...no, please..." I cradle his head in my arms, crying. "Shiro..."
Keith's POV
I sat up in my bed, having heard a scream. Running out of my room, I ran toward the screaming. It was coming from Y/n's room. Bursting in, I find her struggling in her covers, screaming and crying. I ran to her side. Gripping her shoulders, I try to wake her.
"Y/n, wake up. Wake up." She gasps loudly and her eyes fly open. Her e/c eyes fill with tears and she starts crying. I hold her close as she cries.
"It's alright. It's okay. It was just a nightmare." I whisper. She continues to sob, soaking my shirt. But I didn't care. After a while, she begins to calm down.
"Keith..." Y/n looks up at me with tear-filled eyes.
"It's okay. It was just a dream. It didn't happen." I say. She takes a shaky breath and leans back into me. I blush, but hold onto her.
"What happened?" I ask.
"I...It was...Shiro..." She starts, her voice shaky. "He...Sendak...killed him...I couldn't save him..." She starts to sob again. I rub her back, unsure of what to do. I thought about getting Shiro, but I shove that thought away.
"How long has this been going on?" I ask. She looks up at me again.
"Ever since they announced him dead." She admits. I take a deep breath, and nod. I remember how I felt when I heard Shiro was gone. It must've been so much worse for Y/n. Anger filled me just thinking about it. She didn't deserve to ever feel like that.
Y/n's POV
I could tell by Keith's face that he wasn't expecting that answer. I had never told anyone about my nightmares. Ever. They weren't ever this bad, either. And I could tell he was concerned.
"It's...nothing really." I say, looking down.
"It's not nothing. You should've told me. I could help." He says, lifting my chin up. I look into his eyes. They glitter with worry, concern, and a hint of sadness. I smile slightly at him, resting my head on his chest. I don't hear his sharp intake, nor the way he tenses up, but he quickly recovered, relaxing.
"Thank you." I say, eyes slowly closing.
Keith's POV
As Y/n lies on me, I tense up, not used to touch. But I relax instantly, slightly blushing.
"Thank you." I hear her mutter. I smile as her eyes flutter shut. I gently lay her back into her covers, getting up slowly. I jump when her hand shoots out and grabs my own.
"Stay...please..." She opens her eyes and looks at me pleadingly. I nod and lie on her bed. She scoots close, and I wrap her in my arms. I could feel her shaking slightly. I gently play with her long, h/c hair, hoping it will relax her. Sure enough, she was asleep in moments, arms wrapped around me tightly. Leaning my head back, I stare up at the ceiling, thinking about what had happened. After several minutes, my eyes flutter shut and I drift off to sleep, one hand resting on Y/n's back, and another in her hair.
-time lapse-
Opening my eyes slowly, I look at my surroundings. I jolt when I remember what happened last night. I look down and see Y/n resting on my chest, still wrapped around me. Smiling, I brush a strand of hair out of her face. I could never tell anyone how I felt about her. I love the way Y/n lights up the room when she enters it, and how her eyes examine everything with a curious look. And the way her hair falls over her shoulders, flowing in the wind as she walks. And how she makes everyone happier just by flashing them a smile. Oh, her smile. Every time she smiles at me, my chest feels light, and I can't seem to breathe.
My eyes widen when she stirs, sitting up slowly. Looking around, her eyes land on me, and she quickly jerks back when she sees our position. Blushing heavily, I sit up quickly.
"How...how do you feel?" I ask, looking over at her. I see her blush as she looks up.
"Better. Thank you for helping me last night." She says, smiling softly. I blush and look away, rubbing my neck.
"It's nothing, really." I say, laughing nervously. She laughs and stands up.
"You might want to get back to your room before the others find you in here." She says, smirking. I nod and quickly get up. She playfully shoves me out the door, closing it behind me. Blushing, I walk back to my room.
Y/n's POV
I laugh quietly as I shove Keith out the door. Leaning against it, I can't help but smile. I stop suddenly, realizing what I was doing. Could it be? Did I...was I falling in love? With Keith? I look at the floor. I was. But I didn't know if he would love me too.
"Oh,well. I'll have to worry about it later." I say aloud, heading to mybathroom to get ready for the day.
